I'd be watching myself if I was his other two big stars - Lecavalier and St. Louis.

Campbell is the killer salary in that. If they can find a way to not buy him out, and dump him to some sun belt team with lots of cap room for pennies on the dollar, they can really get ahead in signing the better, younger players on that team. Of course, then they'd have a pretty big hole on defence, so they'd probably have to lure a free agent by throwing big bucks at him...

I don't doubt that he is holding back, but he is still an effective forward in the right system. I'm not sure the Wings have the right system for him, but I'm positive he could get 50-55 points on a second-line role with a team where he didn't have to worry about backchecking. I mean, he was never the best backchecker even when he was getting 90 points but now he's just too slow. Something significant also happened to his speed when he started getting those back spasms with Florida because it was at that point where he went from the top five power forwards in hockey to what you see before you in 2009. I don't think he'd be human if he didn't let what happened with Moore enter his mind every second on the ice. But he's also had some significant physical ailments that are slowing him down.

I'm as much an optimist as anyone, but I don't think putting in Franzen and Lilja automatically puts this team in the 62-win area. The team needs to add something (or remove something, McCrimmon) to help keep/expand a third period lead.

Yeah, I'd hate to have a two-inch wide Reebok Edge logo right above the name plate on the back of every player's jersey. Honestly, I know what you mean but logo creep is already in the NHL. I think we're maybe four or five years away from seeing a random auto maker logo, or satellite radio logo prominently on the front of some team's jersey. I just hope it isn't ours.

I'd agree that there are probably no Datsyuks or Zetterbergs or Howes or Lidstroms or Yzermans in the farm right now. HAKAN ANDERSSON IS LAZY AND HE SUCKS!!!!!1 But in reality, the player you're likely going to get out of the farm system is of the Darren Helm variety. Excellent work ethic, great energy line guy with potential for 20 goals. Of any of the players I've watched, Ferraro seems to be the only one with potential to be a soild 30-goal man when he gets his NHL feet under him. But watch some sixth rounder from the last two drafts prove me wrong.
