    Tomas Holmstrom and more

And when would that have been? I must have missed than sometime in the last 20-plus years. The Wings are like a family, loyal to a fault and determined to help players out who have helped them in the past. You're like a drug addict, looking for the nearest quick hit.

    IIHF vs. NHL.

LOL @ Gary!!!! This seems to be yet another time where he's so completely wrong about the big picture, and finally someone in a position of pwer is calling him out on it. Bettman's basically saying: "We can lose $60 million a year in Phoenix, but we don't want 14 million people watching all the best NHL players from around the world for two weeks." The fact that the Olympics are the middle of the regular hockey season throws a spanner in the works, but the point is still well made by Farrrl.

    Maple Laughs

A brittle one dimensional sniper, no less. The Leafs have surrendered a league-high 28 goals in six games. I don't think anyone is really paying that high of a price to score against them.

    Wings Penalty Killing.....EPIC FAIL

They had a crappy pk last year, in the playoffs, and still managed to make it to game 7 of The Final. Tonight, the PK didn't kill the team. The five-on-five was simply outworked and outhustled. The importance of the failings of the penalty kill are in direct proportion to the failings of the offence. You aren't going to beat many teams by scoring one goal on the road in the first 49 minutes. We don't notice the crappy pk as much when we score four or five. I'm tired so the above might not make sense. BUT IT'S REAL TO ME, DAMN IT!!!

Wings sign Brad May to 1 Year Deal, $500k

Great! Now the fighting guys here will have nothing to ***** about. Anyway, he's a nice guy. Good for him and good for his family.

History Revised - The Gretzky Trade

Right around '96-97 or so, Wayne stopped being the best and was merely just great. Still, a good eight years of having two of the top three players in the league at one time is a very interesting. Also, we had Probert and Kocur at the time, so we wouldn't have needed McSorley and his wicked stick collection.

LGW is Pro-Enforcer: The Results are In.

So you know for a fact Kimbo Slice can't skate? I'm impressed! Anyway, who the hell said anything about skating? I'm talking about fighting, not the ballet crap that those mincing weaklings like Godard can do. ESAD is anti-fight. Game, set and match for me and my brilliance.

Kimbo Slice could beat the crap out of him.

LGW is Pro-Enforcer: The Results are In.

On skates or not, Slice would destroy any of your favorite NHL fighters and have enough stamina left over to dance with their girlfriends for the rest of the night. You just don't like fighting.

    No Panic - HUGE NEWS

We could have also had Marty Biron for free three months ago. Just sayin'. What wouldn't a team like Phoenix and Colorado give for a Stanley Cup winner like Lebda? Depth defencemen with big Stanley Cup experience (Quincey never played a role on any Cup teams) don't come around every day.

    [GDT] 10/2 - Blues 4, Red Wings 3 (Stockholm)

4-2 Wings win. Zetterberg with the hat tr...Oops, sorry. I probably jinxed it already. I'd be disappointed with less than a two goal win, particularly given the strong Swedish contingent on the team. COME OOOOON, YOU WIIIINGS...

Boston's playing awful. Chara's loooking slow and was lucky not to pick up a couple of penalties.

    Jonas Gustavsson

You and I both know that's just not possible. Leafland now: OMG OMG!!!! HE'S GONNA WIN FIVE CUPS AND FOUR HARTS AND SEVEN VEZINAS IN A ROW AND HES A LEAF4LIFE, BABY!!! I'M GETTING HIS FACE TATTOOED ON MY ASS!!! OMG OMG!!! KICK SAVE AND ABEAUTY!!!!111 Leafland in three years: TRADE THE BUM!!! WHY DID BURKE GIVE HIM THE NTC WHEN HE SIGNED THAT 12 YEAR CONTRACT IN 2010??? WE'RE DOOOOOOOOOOMED!!!! Even if he is Henrik Lundqvist, he's still got a mediocre offence in front of him until Kessel gets healthy in a month and a half. I see the next Felix Potvin, where it's about four years of being really good and three years of "WTF happened?", followed by a stint in Boston when he just doesn't care anymore.

I hope Chaka Khan cleared some room off her schedule. She'd be an awesome anthem singer.

Wings #3 on TSN Power Rank

BTW, the comments section of any TSN article is a glorious collection of the absolute stupidest things ever delineated on the internet. You won't find any one place on the internet in Canada with more different people saying variations of: "I don't like them, therefore, they suck!" - This team is older and slower. They've lost so many players by trying to low ball them in the hopes that they'll sign for the sake of signing. The organizational depth is being depleted and now that Bowman has bowed out, this team is going to struggle. Time for a rebuild. - They lost too much talent. Hossa,Jiri and Chelios. They should be ranked 5 or higher. - I am no fan of the wings; I find Lidstrom to be the most overrated d-man to ever play the game. I mean, how is it even possible to award the Norris to a guy who's also a Lady Bing candidate every year? The guys they lost weren't replaced in the summer, so expect an early playoff exit for the wings. A good thing, IMO. - I laugh at those who proclaim the Red Wings as a model franchise...they got lucky with a few draft choices...end of story. If you want model sports franchises, look at the Canadians (most cups ever), or the Steelers (most Superbowls ever), or the Yankees, etc. Detroit can't even fill their own arena anymore...and now they've opted out of their lease for force the hand of the tax payers...the Windsor Wings has a nice ring to it!

Wings #3 on TSN Power Rank

Shame on you. Captain Sidney is going to stalk you in your shower for your sins! Seriously, they won the cup, lost a few crappy, hacky defencemen (and Scuderi, who isn't that crappy) and lost basically just a few other guys they healthy-scratched in the reg. season or playoffs, and gained a healthy Gonchar. If they had Yzerman or Messier as captain, I'd call them favorites. But we'll see how Sid leads this team in their victory lap this year. They coudl finish anywhere from first to tenth.

How about if we all just agreed to say we wanted to make Kunitz and Cooke bleed?

    Theo Fleury Released by Calgary

Edmonton's forwards have been playing like s*** this pre-season. Cusimano might be on to something. I wonder if Quinn would bring him in. The two had a connection on the 2002 Olympic team, and Quinn likes bringing in old guys (Phil Housley, Ron Francis, Brian Leetch, etc) if the role is right.
