The Wings only won that Jan. 1 game because of the wind-aided Datsyuk goal. At least, a bald little ****** on television told me that once...
-
No thanks. He skated like he was carrying a piano on his back for most of his comeback. Save the cap room for the deadline, pls.
-
Lolz from Downgoesbrown's twitter today: http://twitter.com/DownGoesBrown Apparently Martin Havlat's non-disclosure agreement got lost in the mail.
-
I wonder if Kenny's saving some of the limited cap space to take a run at a rental at the deadline. I'm sure there will be some UFAs getting ready to cash in next March...
-
Great. It'll make up for the sweet f*** all he did in the playoffs.
-
I remember his rookie junior year in Regina some lunkhead in the stands yelled at him, "How big is it?" I simultaneously laughed and felt terrible at the same time.
-
Have Lidstrom and Gordie on my desk. Oz would be a welcome addition.
-
Bye, Joe. A bastion of class, that one and a fitting Colorado answer for Yzerman.
-
Sounds like he'd be an awesome assistant coach for some AHL team/ Canadian Hockey League in a few years. After four years in the pros and no big league games, I wouldn't even project him as a fourth liner.
-
Kind of shocking that this is, of course, now a perfectly reasonable amount for a #3 defenceman these days. <-------- (wishes he got bonuses that were twice his base pay)
-
Sign Verbeauty, Kenny. That's a fair deal for Hossa, right?
-
Jeremy Williams & Kris Newberry sign with Wings / GR?

He didn't backcheck in Swift Current when he played there, so why do it with the Marlies? Newbury used to fight a lot but if Burke doesn't see a point in keeping him on a two-way contract, he must not be very good or frequent at it. -
Penguins want Wild's Mikko Koivu and Cal Clutterbuck for Evgeni Ma

This must be the kind of hockey trade that Gary Bettman wanted in the new CBA. If it's real, I hope the league nixes it for being retarded. -
Just sign Pat Verbeek, FFS.
-
Any basis for this thought? He had 29 points nine years ago. Should the Wings also try to sign Sandy McCarthy? Nine majors in a season does not equal enforcer. The Habs got physically ran over bad in the playoffs just two and a half months ago, and Laraque didn't do a damn thing but BS with Cabbie on the Street.

If you're wanting to build a hockey team and want someone to play any role required, yes. Those Senators guys are prissy boys who want top six or nothing. Someone like Cleary or Iginla would do anything asked. I'm surprised Heatley got an invite.
-
If the Kings are having a tough time getting big names to sign there, the Pens should be forced to trade them Malkin for $25 million and four first round picks. Isn't that the league's standard protocol for a young but struggling LA team?
-
Agreed. Don't forget Georgie Porgie's pissy conniption fits whenever he gets benched in the playoffs or regular season for uninspired play and unwillingness to compete. That would last about a day under Babcock, where he'd be forced to skate.
-
Apart from Osgood, I'm not sure who else had a chance to get in. Good for Cleary. Hopefully he can get a fourth-line energy spot.
-
Didn't realize the Blues were playing an outdoor game this year...
-
So now what does Conklin get? Is Edmonton interested? EDIT - whoops. Conks to Blues. . . Good deal for Anderson as he was really going to spin his wheels in Fla behind Vokoun.
-
Hope no one just ordered their "Hossa 81" Wings jersey.
-
Heatley-Horcoff-Hemsky and then... Kotalik (if they sign him)-Gagner-O'Sullivan Moreau-Pisani-Nilsson Reddox-Stortini-Jacques/Pouliot/MacIntyre/Eberle That's a lot of eggs in that first line basket, especially in what is essentially a trapping division (Minny/Vancouver, Calgary when they get a lead).

If true, that's a lot to give up for a team that didn't have a lot of depth to begin with.
