    4/20 Playoff GDT

They can start with the idiot fans who booed the US national anthem. I don't care what happened in St. Louis the other night, you don't boo another country's national anthem.

Columbus Columnist: Osgood is Wings' Weak Link

Of course the NHL lists the Penguins guy first.

I'm saving my good vibes for the Ducks tonight. COME ON, YOU DUCKS!

    Lucic Suspended One Game

Looked like his fist did most of the damage but it looks to be a warning shot for anyone else in that series. How Looch gets a game and Kostopolous doesn't get anything for his clear intent-to-injure elbow is strange. Hope they find another way to get back at that Lapierre prick who attacks players for scoring empty-net goals.

    4/16 GDTs

So many division rivals are playing each other tonight and yet there seems to be more feeling out than Catholic school prom night. Hopefully the neutral games get better as the first round wears on.

    4/16 GDTs

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Clagary = teh suck I was thinking tonight that Chicago would be a nice, classic WCF opponent, not that I'm looking too far ahead. If this team gets by Columbus and (maybe) Vancouver, a good ol' rivalry would flare up this year and in future years against another Central Division opponent. Might be a good way to care about the regular season again.

    No Beards?

Homer had his goat on, and I thought I saw Zetterberg with a bit more than just fuzz. Hope I was just seeing things with Zatta.

    Dear Chris Osgood,

I heart Ozzie tonight. If this keeps up, someone should prepare a sign: "Osgood: I apologize"

    No Beards?

Back in the day, Scotty Bowman might have made them shave every day.

Report: Wild to fire GM Risebrough

Since I want them to fail horribly, I would advise them to hire Mike Milbury.
  13. Lulz. Thought about Rick Nash's face maniacally sneering instead of Pyle's here...

    List of Playoff Slogans

And who can forget Columbus' magical playoff slogans over the past few years? 2008: 2007: 2006: 2005: (NHL lockout, no playoffs) 2004: 2003: 2002: 2001: 2000:

    Bettman: Penguins are model franchise

Maybe Gary needs to see the Penguins trade Crosby and Malkin to the KHL for a bag of pucks to see what kind of model franchise it is.

    Thoughts about the draft

I saw Cowan play Midget AAA at 15 and he was getting 30 minutes a game, head and shouldners above everybody skill wise and in decision-making. I'd be thrilled to get him in the lineup with Lidstrom for a couple of years so he could get some of that talent by osmosis. There's some really good talent in the top half of the first round this draft and maybe, just maybe, this trading up idea has been Plan A since Holland signed Zetterberg to a long-term deal, and then turned his sights on inking Hossa and Franzen.

MacTavish steps down as Oilers coach

Huddy doesn't have enough experience. They'd do well to get a good, young junior coach, since they're supposed to have a team with the speed that can play a younger, faster system. But they'll probably throw Glenn Anderson behind the bench or something.

Why the Red Wings Don't Fight

I wonder if Aaron Downey would have made this team better? I suppose I'll never know anybody's opinion on the matter...

    Draft Lottery Thread

Meh. The same people who were pumping Steve Mason's tires all year were pumping Carey Price's last year. Next year it'll be Bernier or something. I love that Burke is running his mouth off about every player on the Laughs being tradable right now. No one wanted Kubina and Mayers at the deadline this year, do you think they're going to throw away a chance at Hedman or Tavares for it this year?

How much doubt compared to 98?

How much doubt compared to 98?

Funny that in 98, the Wings also had some guy named "Osgood" between the pipes and a wicked fast offense. After Phoenix went up 2-1 in the first round, I really didn't think the Wings had a chance. So I wasn't very confident at all until the end of the Dallas series. Washington was going to be a piece of cake.

Not hockey but a sad day for Detroit and Baseball

Damn. I saw Fidrych speak at a banquet about four years ago. Funny guy, still with that same hair, a pretty thick New England accent... He looked in good shape (considering he hadn't pitched in about 30 years) and I told him he could have pitched for the Tigers that year.
