Flames at Blackhawks doesn't start until 7 p.m. and the Wings game is the early start. If they switch it to the Deuce so they can whack it to Phaneuf, they switch it to the Deuce. If you have Shaw you shouldn't have a problem. Back last year when they had that weird "TSN Alternate" it was so hit and miss what or when they would show games it was a complete mess. I'll take the Deuce over what they had last year.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I love that they're boring and never win. I hope they bring up Kevin Constantine and have a hundred more 1-0 games.

Somewhere near my desk I have an Edmonton Journal Sun pre-season Oilers supplement that declared them to be the class of the Northwest Division. Whoops. Dallas had a ton of injuries and Ottawa was going through their third (now fourth) coach in two years. The Oil just plain sucked for no good reason. Edit: Terry Jones column subhead: There's too much talent on the Oilers to not get excited about the club's immediate prospects "It's going to be a ton of fun in Edmonton" ... "...steady growth of Ales Hemsky finally has him on the verge of superstar status" ... "But there's too much young talent here for much of it not to develop, there's too large of a young nucleus here not to be able to fill in around it with free agent players who will want to be here if the Oilers prove to be a top team this year. Get giddy. The next few years are going to be a lot of fun in Edmonton."

lolzercopter! "We have to give them an Art Ross trophy each so that they won't be disappointed."

So long as NBC holds the rights, I doubt we'll see it in Canada anytime soon. I'm going to go off the board and say the Capitals. The possibility of Ovechkin outdoors would sell national advertising.

What does everyone think of Ballard's hit on Malkin?

Soory, forgot about the Crosby Rules. If Boogaard does what Crosby did, he gets a game but because Sid is The Face Of The NHL, he gets only seven. He still put his team down a man at a crucial time, and it ended up costing his team the game Do you think the Wings would be better off if Lidstrom fought, say, Shea Weber after a clean check on Zetterberg? -
(awaits hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmsharks' explanation for this loss)

Wouldn't he have had to have one first?

The day I see advertisements on an NHL jersey like they are in Europe's top hockey leagues is the day I seriously reconsider the purchase of a new jersey every few years. Subway can pay me if they want to advertise their product.

You have to wonder to what degree of usefullness he'll be at this point. And to what end. Even if they do creep into the playoffs in the place they're in now (seventh), Washington will blitz them. If they drop to eighth, I don't like their chances any better against Boston.

Maybe next time he's trying to go in on the Panthers, Malkiin will dump it in at the blueline, so the second best player on the Penguins doesn't have to spend 17 minutes in the box because Malkin can't keep his head up? By the way, for those people on here with a gigantic man-crush on Crosby, I wonder what you think of these two grafs from the NHL.com story: He basically cost his team the game and fell hook, line and sinker into the Panthers' physical plan. If that's what you want your captain doing (taking a selfish retaliation penalty) instead of trying your damnedest to get a win when you're trying to clinch a playoff spot, I'm glad Crosby doesn't play for the Wings. -
Post of the year! I haven't laughed this hard in months!

This. I don't understand how Ramada thinks they're somehow the forgotten underdog in the playoffs that teams are lining up to play. I guess they're getting a little vertigo because they're just not used to being on top.

Sometimes I wonder if this Aaron Downey person would make this team better. Hmmmmm.... if only there were a thread for this ....

"I honestly believe that in the mid-80s, if it wasn’t for the Edmonton Oilers, the Blackhawks would have won a Stanley Cup." Troy Murray, Oct. 2007 http://www.mysuburbanlife.com/huntley/archive/x676134306

And the youth movement continues... Does this mean we can sign Sillinger to be next year's Drake?

Who Should be on the 3rd Defensive Pairing in the Playoffs?

Ericsson and a surprise comeback from Larry Murphy. Failing that, I'd take Lebda slightly over Chelios and Meech. -
I've seen Olsen once. He was OK, but . . . I think there's better out there projected for the high second round. I'd like to see them get a D with better size to replace Stuart/Lilja in 3-4 years.

I'm having a tough time deciding if I'd want the "Reclining Chelli" or a "Manic Face Chelli." A couple of months ago at a grocery store, I saw a cardboard cut out up here for Webber Naturals pharmaceuticals that had Chris Chelios smiling with a bottle of their pills and a contest to "Chill out with Chelios" that could win tickets to a Wings game, an auto'd Wings jersey and a dinner with Chelios at his restaurant. Since I'm not an old man, I decided against buying some of their product and entering the contest. When you're grocery shopping in northern Alberta in 2009, pretty much the last thing you expect to see is Chris Chelios' smiling face on a promotional cardboard cutout.

Just get a damn win already. This losing stuff is starting to piss me off.

Personally, I'm more concerned about the race for seventh place in the conference. There's a good chance it'll be Nashville and while the Wings have had a lot of success against them, you don't want to take that for granted with mediocre play going into that series. The time to for everyone to start caring is upon us shortly. And if the Wings play Nashville, I'm going to find another stream because if I have to listen to Terry Crisp one more ******* time I'm going to punch a stray cat.

Red Wings' Chris Chelios nominated for Masterton award for perseve

They should probably give it to Mike Green. He has 30 goals, you know. Oh wait, wrong trophy. -
But I still wouldn't give him the Norris nod if I had a vote.

Let me hijack this thread. I think Osgood is having the best year of his career, and you all are too blind to see it.

First of all, if you're really confident about your team this year, you shouldn't give a flying F about what Wings fans think of them. Just as I don't give a flying F about what you think of the Wings. Constantly whining to get respect doesn't get it. This game says more about the Lames than it does about the Sharks. If they can't bea t abanged-up Sharks team in Calgary, they're just asking to be some Central Division team's first round upset at this point. Thinking about it, if that happens, the Sharks will possibly face two Central Division teams in a row in the first two rounds, since they'd probably play the lowest seed in the second round (Nashville? St. Louis). If the playoffs started today: SJ-STL Det-NAS Cgy-Colum Chi-Van The second round as I see it would be: SJ-Colum DET-Van Should the Sharks and Detroit meet in the WCF, the Sharks will end up playing three teams in a row from the Central, which is a brutal travel schedule for them should any of the series' go to six or seven games.
