I wish Hoss would have beaten the crap out of Ryan's uncle Gary Suter. That guy was a total cheap-shot artist.

I really love the fact that we have no Neanderthal fighters on this team. That ought to send a certain segment of this team's fanbase back to watching professional wrestling and and shooting rats at the dump for fun.
-
It would be just as big an issue here with Crosby. Or Osgood.
-
Interesting link. I very very much doubt Bob Gainey would send Kovalev away for a pair of games if he wasn't 100 per cent sure the player was hurting the team otherwise.

Claude Lemieux is San Jose's Kirk Maltby. There, I said it.

Whats the site where I can find the stat for takeaways

Don't know how accurate this is since they adjust for "stingy" cities in giveaways/takeaways http://stats.hockeyanalysis.com/200809/playertakeaway.php -
How on earth does Kaberle fit into this team's pay structure unless Lidstrom and Rafalski both retire? Because, let's face it, he doesn't crack that top two the way he's played the last two years. He's a very good defenceman, but I wouldn't throw Hudler into a trade to get him.

I don't trust Owen Nolan's legs at this stage in his career, and I really don't trust him for $2.75 mil.

You can't claim to be a Red Wings fan in 2009 if you don't put Aaron Downey on here. Shame!

The more I watch the Habs lately, the more I think they could use a Kovalev enema. He's been terrible in the games I watched. I wonder if even Glen Sather would even take that reclamation project.

Frank *****'s name made me giggle a little. Same with Paul Ysebaert (probably came up at the wrong time with the Wings to establish his own identity). Just something about the name "Wayne Van Dorp" also made me think he was never going to be anything but a minor league journeyman.

I think in the playoffs they'll just have a few cameras in Mario's basement for three hours every Saturday at noon just because they have no idea how to program their NHL schedule without Sindy. Emrick: Looks like he's picking up the remote, Eddie. What do you think he's watching? Olczyk: Looks like a 1998 repreat of Friends, Doc. Wow. What a great choice. Do you remember when I coached him, Doc? McGuire: Guys, I really like the way he had the big body presence and used the active finger to press 4 and then 9, instead of 0 and 4 and 9 like a lot of guys his age. Guys, he's just so advanced. (muffled sounds). Looks like Mario's wife is asking him what he wants for lunch. Guys, I wouldn't be surprised if he takes a sandwich, guys.

Wow. I think somebody with the Wings organization gave somebody in the ivory tower at Bristol the old "Columbus BJ", if you know what I'm saying.

Here's a Wikipedia WTF? Ummm, nooo......

And that's the only audience they'll ever have if they don't broaden the base a bit. I find myself watchign Hockey On the Fly final edition more than Sportscentre because I know I'm going to get more than Leafs, Leafs, Leafs, Habs, Toskala, Burke, Antropov, Lefas, Leafs, Habs, Wilson, Price, Gainey, Burke, Koivu, Leafs, Leafs, Leafs, Habs, Price, Crosby, Leafs, Sharks, Cherry, Leafs, 2010, Leafs, "Bryan McCabe back at the ACC", Leafs, Burke, Wilson, Burke, Oilers, Leafs. I'm beginning to wonder if Toronto has any local television affiliates.

Pepe LePew, Patty Roy and Pete Forsberg. I hated Forsberg and that stupid open-mouth look he always had on his face. DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUHHHHHHHH. Anyway, with a close fourth going to that total dick, Marc Crawford.

The Edmonton Journal claims source says Jagr is close to signing with Edmonton: http://communities.canada.com/edmontonjour...ton-oilers.aspx Pierre LeBrun: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?...e=lebrun_pierre Oilers denial: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=266555&...=headlines_main He would appear to have to go through waivers to actually play. In layman's terms, what would be the reason for that?

That's just Scotty being Scotty. If he was any different, I doubt he'd have more cups as a coach than anyone else.

No wonder Halak's GAA is skyrocketing.

Oilers fans have been moaning for a couple of years now that they've needed someone to "play with Hemsky" (as if he's some sort of mercurial anti-gravity force who would score tons of points if his linemates were able to keep up with him). Since they're both RWs, I don't see how this helps them in that regard, but if he signs for the rumoured 2 years/14 million it's not really that bad of a gamble to switch one to LW.

Wow. 33 shots halfway through the game and Kopecky falls on him? He's going to be a sore Pekka at the end of this one.

Fighting in the 2000s is less about policework or spirited anger and more about game strategy. Three-quarters of the fights I've seen in non-Red Wing games have been grab and hold snooze-fests between a pair of 240-pounders. Georges Laraque, I'm looking at you.

There's a lot of people in Western Canada who will travel and follow the Habs for at least one or two games, especially since IIRC they only come out here once every three years. I know Crosby hadn't played in Calgary until last year. Well, he played in the midget tournament with Shattuck St. Mary's when he was 15, but you know what I mean. I've noted the Habs have a lot of fans in Western Canada, second only to the local teams (Edmonton/Calgary) in those cities, but a good majority otherwise. Toronto is still in third place but I've got to think Detroit is getting closer.
