From Titanium's link: "Pavel, you wear the 'A' on your jersey as a team leader. What does that mean to you?" "A lot. So much that I put an 'A' on all my clothes. I wear an 'A' everywhere."

Hopefully it involves our D being more active and our forwards more willing to put in some shot-blocking practice. Seems like there's too many guys down low waiting to poke at rebounds and way too many back-door plays to an open man.

Green has a lot of time over the next decade to improve his D zone game. J. Bouw is turning the puck over a lot and is 18 points out of the points lead for defencemen on a team that's not making the playoffs. It comes down to Chara, Lidstrom and Boyle, with maybe Andrei Markov thrown in. I'd even put Keith over Bouwmeester.

I think if the Pens were to fire their coach Mike Terrion (copyright Ed Olczyk) and replaced him with an NHL coach, they might end up back in the thick of things before the end of the season. Having the top two scorers in the league and missing the playoffs is inexcusable and it can't have happened before.

"Nick" Lidstrom? You can call him MR. Lidstrom, Darren.

"I feel real good out there. I feel sharp and confident. I feel the tide is turning and pretty soon I'm going to get on a huge roll and things are going to go real good here."

Sean Avery. I'm guessing we wouldn't have to worry about his rebound control...

Huzzah!

why can't the NHL have a salary cap like baseball?
mjlegend replied to FLWINGSFAN4013's topic in General
Count me in for this lower-cap-hit-for-drafted-players idea, too. Even if this would actually help a team like Pittsburgh who sucked for so long and got high draft picks. -
They should drop the floor to maybe 60 per cent of the ceiling instead of what it is now (roughly 80 per cent?). Then you'd see some fire sales and get teams out of a bit of a financial hole.

Ken Holland is lazy and worthless!

Marc Lamothe was the starting goaltender the one time I saw the Wings live - a 1-1 tie in Edmonton. Ahhh, Jamie Rivers....
-
Just win. Put style points on the backburner and show up in all three zones. Break this stupid slump.
-
Ranford I actually remember because he was in the playoffs thanks to some injuries/ ineffectiveness (2000?). Wregget I always miss when I think about our backup goaltenders... He was no Norm Maracle, though. Looking through an old box of stuff a few years ago, I read an old Hockey Digest article about the Wings in the late 80s mentioning a goaltender named Sam St. Laurent. I forgot any goaltender from about 1983-90 not named Mio, Stefan or Cheveldae.

I think Brian Burke could have if He wanted to.

I don't trust either head of the Kouleas/Barrie monster to tell the truth at any given time. They'd obviously be trading a decent roster forward (Kostopoulos?) and a decent roster defenceman (Gorges?) as well to make up the cap difference, plus a prospect (Maxwell?) and/or a few draft picks. This way, they don't have to give up a player they really like in a trade, like Lang or Markov if there are no other suitors for Vinny. If Lang's season is done, it might end up being the best thing to happen to Montreal's chances for Vinny, and I think Vinny >> Lang. And if they do get him, I wonder how hard Bob Gainey will push some players on Florida for a rental on Bouwmeester in this Montreal centennial season.
-
Best of luck to Bob Lang and all, but I wonder if this gives Mtl the wiggle room under the cap to get Vinny L. on the team.

Jesus on a pogo stick, those Habs jerseys are horrid.

Should the Red Wings Fire Assistant Coach Brad McCrimmon?
mjlegend replied to Winged_Wheeler's topic in General
I'll put this on you then: Based on the several non-winning years on his resume, would you have hired him to be essentially the D co-ordinator on a defending Stanley Cup team?
