while you're right that roberts isn't an all out goon, I still want to kick him straight in the balls for the cheap headshot on franzen last year after he came back from post concussion syndrome

lol kinda but....i wonder if leino is as big of an *******? lol

So, the 4th line earlier in the season was just drab. They couldn't score, and they had a HORRIBLE plus minus. Now that we're mixing that line up with a slice of helm and a dash of leino here and there, I see the 4th line coming into their own. I think leino and helm have done a couple things to help that. First, they're making maltby, draper, and kopecky play harder to earn their spot on the line. 2nd, they're bringing speed and energy that the line lacked earlier on. And 3rd, it seems as though all the guys on the 4th line are playing better with the rotations going on. So now we get to maltby. I've watched him closely the past few games he was in and I'm starting to see a big change in just him alone. Last night when we got into some penalty trouble mid to late 2nd period...I have to say, he looked like the maltby of old at certain points there. I can recall specifically one point on a PK where he was able to singlehandedly keep the puck in the sharks end for about 45 seconds while having 2 sharks on him the whole time. Draper also seems to be picking things up a bit. Not a whole lot but to me, I rarely noticed him on the ice early in the season. Lately though, i've seen him playing a little more physical and joining in better on the rushes. Not to mention, he's actually shooting the puck alot more. The only guy on the 4th who has yet to TRULY impress me with their better play (though, I don't think he's doing horrible lately...he just hasn't showed the spark of the others yet) is Kopecky. I realize the injuries he suffered will take time to come full circle and be back in the same shape you were before, So as long as he keeps slowly building his play up, I'm happy to have him there because of his size and grit when he plays that way. Anyway, has anyone else noticed any of this? Especially in Maltby IMO.

Ohh man, I know. Everytime dats stepped on the ice, I got all excited. Last night was IMO one of his best career regular season games. Not so much points wise but his overall play was stellar.

Sorry if a mod took my previous post of this down for some reason...but I went to check on the thread and It was gone, so I am thinking there was an error? If not why would it be deleted? Just wondering, and sorry for posting twice if I did somethin wrong to get the post removed. So, out of curiosity, i went to letsgosharks.com just to read some articles on last nights game from the opponents perspective and I'm appauled at what I just read. It seems as though all the sharks fans think the refs gave us the game, or that Because cleary hit thornton in a "Hit reminiscent of Claude Lemeiux's on Draper", that caused thornton to play crappy and the team to follow. Here is a sample of tihs article with the link to the full thing following: ---Detroit beat the Sharks by flat out dominating them in just about every facet of the game. The Red Wings set the tone early when Dan Cleary tried knocking out the Sharks top centerman, Joe Thornton, with a cheap shot that was reminiscent of Claude Lemieux’s hit on Chris Draper in the playoffs several years ago. Cleary nailed Thornton in the numbers, forcing the centerman’s head into the glass. Thornton was a non-factor in the game from that point forward. Rather than rally around their fallen leader, the Sharks seemed to go into a shell. They would spend the remainder of the game chasing the Red Wings, rather than dictating play. The Red Wings were aided by the on-ice officials inability to call anything more than a minor penalty for boarding. --- Source: http://www.letsgosharks.com/story/2009/09-0225-01.htm I'm not suggesting anyone go on there starting stuff, and I am not posting there either. I just found this to be a joke. A joke from some sore losers who can't admit that they were just purely outplayed and not make excuses for why they were. Let me know what you all think.

puckloo, the initial hit was a clean hit. Doug Murray just got incidental contact with hoss after the hit...nothing more. It was just a bad break for hossa that murray was where he was. Murray was just skating and hossa kind of fell into him after the initial contact. Nothing dirty went on there.

T.Low, that is why I love wings broadcasts. Mickey tries to be as unbiased as possible. If detroit gets away with something, he'll admit it. If the refs make a bad call on the opposing team, he'll stick up for that team. He calls the game, not the team.

Exactly, the wings brought their A game last night and I honestly think that Cleary's "dirty" (and lets not kid ourselves, it was a pretty bad hit) hit set a good tone for the game for us because the sharks throughout the game seemed to be retaliating for that one hit which helped us alot. After last night's game, I feel confident in saying that if the wings play even close to as good as they did last night....they will in fact go very deep in the playoffs. Now back to cleary's hit. In his defense, he seemed to just be finishing his check and just before he hit joe, joe turned and looked back so I'm inclined to believe that cleary thought thornton was going to turn toward him. I doubt cleary purposely laid that kind of hit on him. In fact, if you watch closely you'll see him try to pull off at the last second, and he even twisted his body and hit him with his back in an attempt to soften the blow when he realized joe wasn't going to turn around. As for Conklin, I say if the guy keeps up the rest of the season like that, we have to start him in the playoffs. That is unless ozzie comes back in tomorrow and shows everyone he is refocused and back to form of last season.

i went to the jan8th game vs dallas and I can tell you now if i looked through the crowd for the whole game i couldn't have picked 100 empty seats. This was vs dalas though and those games are always pretty fun to watch...just sayin. I went to 2 games this year and both were pretty full.

Actually, quite often i see sammy at the head of the scrap. He may night actually fight but I ALWAYS see that dude talkin down the other teams guys. Hell i was 3 feet away when sammy and robidas almost went at it on jan 8th. I heard what was said...only thing between me and them was the glass. Sammy said to him, u f*** with hiim you f*** with me (talking about a dirty hit on huds) and robidas backed down saying "i wont fight with your visor on" sammy just kept calling him out until the linesmen broke it up. Point is..sammy was there standing up for his mates and I always seem to see him doing this even if he never does fight.

AMEN DUDE....i couldn't agree more!

Honestly, I agree with what someone else said. They've lost their confidence in oz. In front of conks, they know what they can and can't get away with on the defensive side because they know IF they happen to make a mistake, they feel conks will be able to bail them out...therefore their mind is set on doing one thing and being confident in it as opposed to having to worry about what the guy will do to get around them AND what happens if he does...how would he go about stopping a probable shot? I think it boils down to overall confidence. They lose confidence in ozzy? They lose confidence in the team overall. They have confidence in conks? They seem to show it in their play don't they?

Ok, so I have a friend who lives in edmonton and is a huge oilers/wings fan. He has very good inside connections to both clubs and has NEVER given me false info or weak rumors. He told me like 5 days before anyone knew anything about hossa signing with us that we were trying to ink him. Last year at the trade deadline, he told me we were going to pick up a D man for our second line about 2 weeks before deadline, and a few days prior to the signing he told me it was stuart. Having said that, he has told me he's hearing rumors that we're looking to unload one of our Middle paid players (he said prob between 2.5 and 3.5 mil) and possibly picks , looking for some new strength in net. If i thought for ONE SECOND that he didn't have some inside info on this and that he was BSing me, i'd never post this but he's been right on sooo many things related to NHL teams in general over the last 3-4 years that I have to believe him. He gave me a list of 5 possible goaltenders that holland and Co are quite possibly considering. One of them i GUARANTEE you will laugh at me for even adding to this list but again, I have no reason not to trust my good old Canadien friend so here's the run down: - Khari Lhetonen - Toskala - Nicklas backstrom Ok, with me still? These next 2 seem a far stretch EVEN TO ME who trusts the guy but they were on his list. - Dwayne Roloson (which i would believe he knows most about because he lives in edmonton and has direct ties to the team somehow) and there's one more....ready for it? < << <<< <<<< <<<<< <<<<<< <<<<<<< <<<<<<<< <<<<<<<<< <<<<<<<<<< <<<<<<<<<< <<<<<<<<< <<<<<<<< <<<<<<< <<<<<< <<<<< <<<< <<< << < - Martin Brodeur - He's nearly ready to come back from injury and with clemmenson doing as well as he is right now, my friend suggests that NJ would be CRAZY to put marty back in especially given that they could safely unload him for some offensive firepower because clemmenson is doing great and weekes has been a decent backup. He said his source told him that it is likely that since marty is getting old, they may off him to another team who could use him until retirement in exchange for a little more power up front. Ok so, I KNOW some of you are going to call me nuts (ok prob about 99.9 percent of you), and I don't blame you one bit. I just figured since I trust the guy and he knows his stuff and has connections that i'd at LEAST put it out there for you all to read and at least ponder, or laugh at me if you feel necessary. But please keep the flaming and rude comments to yourselves because i already know this sounds nuts and I am only doing it to see what you all would think about any of those guys coming to play for the wings? Ok so, If you don't believe, or agree about any of this feel free to let me know but please keep it respectful eh? ; P

Mindfly, take your disrespect somewhere else please! I dunno what any of those goalies are paid but the wings have alot of depth in other positions so I think some kind of trade off is possible to make cap.
