Ok dude, it seems i'm not the only one seeing something wrong. I never said it wasn't good enough. I was implying that they look like crap while winning and winning isn't even everything. I'd rather seem them play the way they can, and lose then to play like crap for 45 minutes and then in the last 15 min playing desperately and scrambling to get back in. I'd rather see them play good for 60 minutes, than play desperate for 15. Don't like my thoughts? Or my opinions? Or anyone elses thoughts or opinions in this thread? Don't read it, and ignore it. Theres no reason for you to be an immature little kid about this. So, i say to you Mr high and mighty. Step off your pedastol and either join in the conversation, or turn around and walk away, because there are a number of people who posted in here besides me who obviously agree with me to some degree. So why come in here and start drama with those of us who wish to talk about this? C'mon dude you can be better than that...I just know it! Also, i've been watching HOCKEY since i was 3...22 years to be exact. I played hockey for 14 years, until an ankle injury and surgery stopped me from ever skating again. The wings are my fav team, i live near detroit..but by NO MEANS, are the wings the only team i watch and follow...and compared to some of even the lesser teams...we look horrible, winning or not. So put that in your peace pipe, smoke it and help keep the peace around here. I'm not even trying to be a dick here...i'm just saying, you cannot call ME clueless when apparently theres quite a few other people who are in agreeing to an extent, and Up until you showed up in here, nobody has said ONE thing about not agreeing...so to call me clueless, is to call all of them clueless as well. From what I've seen of the people posting in this thread (which btw is the number 1 thread right now) they are all pretty damn knowledgeable hockey "fans" as you so arrogantly put it. I have a few theories as to whats going on and what needs to happen...just my opinion but i'll share. 1. - With Drake out of the lineup, it seems as we only really have 2 guys who are finishing hits with any kind of regularity. That IMO would be Lilja and Stuart. Kronner seems to have softened up a bit on the hits so far but...i Don't expect him to hit like he did in the playoffs during regular season. Someone needs to step up and let other teams know we will not be pushed around because as it is now, it seems like we're being lazy, or afraid to take the body, especially in front of our own net which is causing alot of trouble for the goalies because the other teams are getting to loose pucks and rebounds way too often. Alot of flack is being put down on ozzie and conks but i see a good portion of the goals against because we're not putting the bodies between the puck and the other team, and not keeping them from the front of the net. 2. - It also seems we're taking alot of dumb penalties on the defensive end of the ice because the NHL is really seeming to crack down on the "clutch and grab" style that the wings were allowed to get away with during the playoffs last year. The same crap that had Therrien crying to the press is what we're sitting in the box for a majority of the time this season. I can't say i totally disagree with the way they're being called most of the time because lets face it, its the regular season and in the playoffs they lay off those calls more to allow for better action packed games. Also, poor officiating around the league (not just against the wings) is causing problems. The calls vary sooo much from period to period let alone game to game, so we're not sure what we can and can't get away with. For example...i can't remember when it happened but hossa got a hook for having his stick come around from behind a guy and BARELY tap his stick. Now, thats not what I call a hook but the league is getting very strict on things like this. The problem is its VERY inconsistent. In the 1st and 2nd periods, it seems they can't get away with things like that...but in the 3rd, stuff like that is being let go left and right. 3. - I think Babcock switching lines up SO much is hurting more than helping. No lines are really having a chance to build chemistry before they're thrown into another mix. Sometimes this is good as it shakes things up but, not knowing shift to shift who will be on your line almost every game, could probably confuse them even. The lines are maybe unbalanced too. I think having zetterberg on a line with hossa and homer might actually work better than having the dats, hoss and homer line. Put Dats between franzen and cleary or huds, or even sammy or flip to see which works. It seems that having hossa with dats (even tho lately he's been scoring a ton) is causing pavs to do a couple uncharacteristic things. One, he's making too many tricky passes to hoss, and 2, we know he can score....when he shoots, but instead of taking those shots he's trying to be cute and get the puck to hoss which ALSO leaves homer up front not able to get his trademark tip in goals. Nobody is taking those outside shots very often to utilize homer very well. We're not really having TOO much trouble on the offensive end. Its just that it seems the offense is only working right when we're behind, late in games.....which also means that like someone else said..the defense is relying on the offense to keep us in the games, and detroit used to be more of a defensive minded team. It needs to switch...defense first...keep the other teams goal count low, THEN our chances will come easier once the other team gets frustrated and messes up and starts taking penalties. 4. - I don't know if i really believe this one but i'm just throwing it out there. Hossa in the locker room may be causing some kind of ego problems or something. I've seen Hossa make quite a few cocky moves that were unnecessary (especially that one move in the shootout where he just took the puck and skated all cocky and slow and took a weak shot. Did you see what babcock's answer was to that? The very next shootout, he put hudler in hossa's place, and Huds scored the winner for us. 5. - One thing I think about the goalies...for the most part, the defense isn't helping them out on most goals against. I will say that quite a few goals let in were weak on the goalie's part but the D isn't helping. When that happens, Goalie confidence goes down which hurts their game even more. I think we need to work on Tightening up the D, as well as maybe bringing up larsson or howard to start a few games and see how they do (im not sure if larsson is ready for NHL yet, as I haven't followed him much.) and then making oz, conks, and howard/larsson fight it out for who is getting top spot, making it do or die time for their position on the team. Again, these are just some of my observations and OPINIONS, so feel free to disagree and tell me where you think I might be wrong or whatever. It's not going to hurt my feelings if you disagree lol...thats why they're my opinions.

Hey everyone...so my mom and dad bought me some AMAZING seats for the Jan 8th game vs dallas. They're section 123 row 6. I looked at the diagram of the joe, and it says my section is RIGHT next to the wings bench. My question is, since i'm row 6 would i literally be next to the bench? I mean, how many rows back do the benches come? Thanks in advance.

Yea they were an xmas present from the parents...greatest gift ever IMO lol. I told them, hey...its the wings. You could have booked me seats to watch from the roof and i'd have been floored lol. But they definitely sound like great seats...and i specifically picked the dallas game cuz I just love how the wings and stars play against eachother. It's always a physical, butt cheek clenching game. Well, thanks for the answers guys...and gals if there are any that posted. I'm gonna enjoy this, it's been since they won the cup back in 97 since i've been to a game.

the wings just seem to be standing around tonight. I've seen so many loose pucks where nobody is chasing it...they're hanging back waiting for the kings to get it and come at them. In our zone, nobody is helping out the puck side...they're all standing back watching what happens. This is NO EXCUSE but maybe that sharks game whipped them hahaha. omg lilja just got high sticked in the face and the ref ....i read his lips said...u ok? lils nods and skates off...no call and on offense, the wings are trying to be too fancy...instead of taking the good shots they have...they're trying to set someone else up ....raffi just had an open net, and tried to pass to hossa and the pass was blocked

I have a feeling hossa has some kind of playable injury because for like the 2nd half of the 3rd period vs the sharks he wasn't out there...and omg, my game predictions with NHL09 have been right so far...cuz the kings just took the 4-3 lead

good news....during wings games i turn my xbox 360 on and put NHL09 in. I set the lines and goalies to exactly what the teams have tonight. I let the game play while i watch the wings game, and period for period...it has been right so far. I mean it didn't have the same goals or same people scoring, but the score after 1 was 2-2 and the scoring order was the same. after the 2nd 3-3. and in the 3rd, the kings took a 4-3 lead just 3 minutes in. 2 minutes later, pavs made a beautiful setup to hossa who roofed it to tie it up. For the rest of the period, the wings seemed to frustrate the kings as they took 4 penalties which the wings couldn't score on. 4 minutes left in the game, Kings take another penalty. Pavs again, sets up hossa for a great pass. Hossa rips it from the right faceoff dot, and homer puts his stick on it, and knocks it down through the 5 hole and in. 5-4 wings Shortly after, dustin brown gets a breakaway on a weird bounce off the boards....he goes in and makes an AMAZING deke, but conks stays with him and ABSOLUTELY ROBS HIM. 134 left, the kings pull quick.....the kings take a shot on conks and go for a linechange....conklin takes notice and fires it up the ice to a waiting henrik zetterberg who nets the open netter for the 6-4 win. Lets hope its as accurate on the 3rd as it was on the first 2

that was a WEAK tripping call...homers stick barely grazed the skate. Looked like more of a dive than anything. Also, whats up with the wings giving up a goal right after getting one...twice in thsi game?
