Guys, this is new for the wings. Having to battle from the outside looking in for that playoff spot. This team has proven to us time and time again that when it counts, they know how to get the job done. Ozzy particularly, knows what it takes to win when you're in a tight spot. (see past two post seasons). As I said yesterday, I feel very optimistic about the remainder of the season, and I think today could be the day the boys and especially ozzie step things up to that next level and start putting up a fight for that playoff spot. There's only so much time left and they know this.

Well I was confused about this to. The confusion comes from the part where it says "A continuous motion towards the opponents goal" When bert brings the puck around on the spin-o-rama he moves it AWAY from the net for a second before moving it around and back toward the net to shoot. Thats where the confusion was. It's all about how it's worded is all.

Exactly, if the offending player here walked up to someone on the street and did that he'd be met with assault charges. Possibly more if the guy ended up injured like Tam. The fact that he's playing in a game shouldn't matter here. He did wrong and it's still against the law. No matter where you are. That's not to say that minor jabs and elbows and little things that happen in the heat of the game should all be punished by law. Only when someone's sole intent to injure another player like this instance, should the law be involved.

Thank ya kind sir. Good to see someone else who's not all doom and gloom about the season. I realize it's hard to be optimistic this year but they are my wings. I'm die hard til the end, and I'll always believe in them.

Honestly, The wings are playing better hockey lately. Not perfect but better. Give the guys fresh back from injury time to gel and make chemistry. Give us some time to get guys like kronwall and franzen back. Give us a 2 week olympic break with a team fired up and healthy...wanting to make that playoff spot. Give me 20 or so games to go on a hot streak and surprise everyone all of a sudden a-la pens last year. Give me that cup come early july. I'm surprisingly optimistic about the remainder of the season.

Correction, there is nothing within a 20 mile radius of the palace lol. I live within that distance out in waterford. Unless you consider downtown pontiac which is only a few miles away, a place to hang out and find something to do after a game.....people will just be forced to turn around and go home after. When I go to the joe, it's fun because it's in the city and you can make a night of it with all the fun stuff there is to do there. To me the city atmosphere is half the experience of going to a wings game.

True, True BUT....At the joe you have many parking options if you don't mind taking the people mover for 50 cents. I usually park at greektown, play a few slots before the game and take the people mover. At most i will have spent 5 bucks and had the possibility of winning it back.

What I don't get about the people who always say "Criminal charges? Are you kidding me?" Is this: Why do people feel that just because this stuff happens during a sporting event that it should not be punished by law? Sure, hitting is allowed in hockey. Good clean hits that hurt people are never looked twice at (Ohlund's hit on hank for example). Players know what they should and shouldn't do, just like in the real world. Hitting somebody like that is purposely intending to cause them harm and that's not exactly what the hitting in hockey is all about. Just because he's doing it during a game doesn't mean he's not breaking a law. I suppose you are the same people who said Mike Tyson shouldn't have gotten in any trouble for biting off Evander Holyfield's ear? It's not part of the sport to purposely try to hurt someone. It's also against the law to purposely try to injure someone. So, what does it matter if it was done on the streets or during a sporting event? I guess having a team logo on your sweater grants you special rights to injure people as a citizen now? Anyone sticking up for this kind of stuff, are obviously delusional on how society actually works. Either that or they are so involved in the sport that they can't differentiate between that and real life itself.

Sorry dude, I am not attempting to rag on you in the least but I totally disagree with your statement. Even little peewee kids know not to do s*** like this. When I was 11 years old, I got on a breakaway and a defender hooked me from behind, causing me to fall backwards and hit the ice. On the way back I flung my stick back making it look like an accident and WHACKED that defenders helmet clear off. My coach reemed me a new ******* and sat me for the rest of the game. Little kids know not to do this s*** too. His coaches are not to blame. He is ultimately the one throwin them bows and he knows damn well what he's doin. He IS AN ADULT afterall. He needs severe punishment, especially after narrowly ending another players life/career. Again, this is not a jab at you. I just disagree with what you said is all.

Would anyone be opposed to trying out helmer on a SO once? I know he's had some bad breakaways but i think his speed coming at the net could overwhelm a goalie. That, and He couldn't be worse than cleary on the SO

I think big bert deserves some love for his move as well. I was always under the impression that once you turned your back to the goalie the shot was over though?

Yeah and then the ref from center ice who had an obstructed view called it a no goal on the grounds of "I didn't see it go in", and then the call is actually reverted to no goal in the war room because the ref at center ice can apparently see better than the ref with his HEAD ABOVE THE ******* GOAL LINE.
