I think the "rumor" was started by the Wings to help justify that terrible trade.
-
I saw that earlier too, but it's not on the Red Wings website anymore......

Anybody want to take bets that Brunner ends up with either Montreal or Chicago?

At least it's not another Ken Holland re-tread..... -
Just curious to see what everyone thinks about Ken Holland's off season so far. Consider too that he's got about $6 mill in cap-space left. Also note what you think he needs to do next.

I agree with the "bold" part. This year I think was just about maintaining a similar team as last season. Which is still a very good team BTW. With his non-overspending (except for E), he's put himself in a 2-hit position. He can either hit (1) the trade deadline hard this season, and has salary room to do it. Or wait to hit (2) next year's UFA market to really update the look of the Wings. (if rumors are true, they will be in a new division and will need to bulk up in size) This year's class of forwards for very light anyway. I'm glad he did what he did with Commodore & White, not so much Ericsson (though I thought it was out of necessity), Conklin is a safe back-up choice. Next season may be the one with the most changes.

Speaking of health issues....Osgood reminds me of Herpes, you just can't get rid of them. An just when you think your safe, it flares up again. WTF, he must have some pics of Holland in a balerina dress or something. I can't figure it out.

Wings sign D Ian White to 2-year, $5.75m contract

Well said. You gotta love a guy that's 5'10" and fights....that's heart and character. -
I'm sure he's busy rubbing Cindy Crosby's temples and easing his head out of the concussion he suffered. Bettman needs his field-man to take care of Crosby instead of useless banter. Once Crosby come's back, we'll see Pierre "LeDouche" on screen and monitoring the situation from close "between the benches" again.

Let's not get into a pee-ing match with BlackHawks fans. They've proven that they're a bunch of classless punks on multiple occasions. Hawks fans remind me alot of Av's fans when they won their 1st Cup. None of them really knew what was happening on the ice, they knew the players that the media told them to know and only cheered when that player scored. B/C that's all they knew, other than that it was all marketing buzz-words. "going Cup Crazy" "Win that Stanley Thing" "Where's Jordan" "do we have a Capone on the team" you know all the typical Chicago Stuff. Besides it's just a fun Original-6 rivalry we get to have again. Some old-time hate-on-hate hockey. I'm tired of having "rivalries" Columbus, Nashville, Colorado (aka Quebec), + all the other expansion teams.

Let's not forget the greatest all-time flub.... Uwe Krupp - Red Wings, Jamaican Sled-Dog team, etc....

Excellent point (highlighted), I'm sure if Salei creams a guy for a hit on Modano, it would ease any rifts at this point. I'm sure both came here to win a Cup, if that happens then that will not be an issue. Good call.

Hopefully he doesn't play like a #2!

From reading the scouting report & watching the Finland v. Russia highlights on youtube. Teemu looks to have a game similar to Brett Hull. He finds the right space to got to, has a wicked fast slapshot and can pick corners on net at speed. Definitely an opportunistic goalscorer. Also like Hull, he's not too good on defence and probably won't be known for it. But like the saying goes, "the best defence is a strong offence". Hopefully he doesn't wilt in the d-minded system the Wings play. "The Golden Teemu" has a sloppy but appealing ring to it. (<== refernce to "The Golden Brett")

Asham would be my choice too. We do have a glut of those type of guys now though, and Modano would be a good 3rd Line center between Cleary & Bertuzzi. The team is set-up for that now. Unless of course Asham can throw the dukes around then he could easily bump what we have now. Morrisonn sounds like he'd be an OK pairing with Ericsson at this point. It seems to me, never seen him play, that he's a bigger version of Lilja. Not sure how he'd do on the PK or other down-n-dirty play. At #6D we need somebody to cover for Ericsson's badly timed offensive rushes. But let's face facts, Holland doesn't sign guys that are bigger than him anyways.

That would be the only reason for Lidstrom to say anything about "done". It's not like him to everstate the obvious, considering he'd be 43 next olympics.

Mike Milbury uses 'Eurotrash game' to describe Russian hockey
9-HoweFan replied to Ruys92's topic in General
Let's not get too surprised here folks..... Canadians are some of the best people you'll ever want to meet. Very fair and kind in all aspects of life except for hockey. Canada's prejudice shows it's ugly head when it comes to hockey. We've heard that from the NHL's "senior" circuit. But let's not forget that Mike Milbury had a chance to draft Ovechkin when he was with the Islanders and passed on him. Probably didn't like his Eurotrash game even then..... I wonder how that's worked out for the Islanders.....(dang Eurotrash) -

WTF = whatever it takes for a Canadian Team to Win. The Wings have the most Swede's hence the crap-ar$e calls we've been getting forever. 1st with the Russian 5 then the Swedish 7. -

No. 1 ~ question to ask.... Would this have happened if the "goal" was against Pittsburgh? No. 2 ~ an average do 50-50 calls like this going against the Wings? No. 3 ~ why did it take so long to make a decision when the rule is written clearly? (kind of like the rule about starting a fight in the last minute of a game. which happened during the stanley cup fiinals. ruling defeated league rule that went against the wings.) not bitternes, just building a case Two undeniable things have happened to the NHL, that have never happened before. Like the NBA, outcomes are controlled more. (and) There are two sets of rules, ones for star players on preferred teams and the people that foul them. Nobody can deny that fact. So knowing that, you can easily pick the finalists and contenders for the future. Get ready for a steady diet of Southern US teams wining and doing well in the playoffs. A steady diet of US market BIG cities getting breaks. (If you don't think that's true, ask canadian hockey fans what they think of NHL teams moving out of CANADA to go Phoenix and the like.) Look forward to Chicago v. Pittsburgh Finals for next 10 years or so, Unless Dallas, Los Angeles, Anaheim, San Jose break through. "You can't without a superstar" is the saying in the NBA. NHL will soon follow, not because their good, but calls will come your way. - Enjoy the Bettman era. -
Puckdaddy?!?!? What kind of lame thing is that. With his article he's probably forced to call Bettman, daddy. LAME A$$ NHL PARTY-LINE SLAPPY, P.O.S. .........
-
According to that POS Bettman it can. That guy's fascist arrogance needs to be removed from the NHL, and let hockey fans and their cities get hockey teams.

You want to see obsessing over talk to NBC, McGuire, Bettman, TV announcers and every employee of the NHL that is Lorded over by Bettman. We're just forced to listen the this when it's clear to everyone outside of Pittsburgh's brainless majority that Malkin is the better player on the Pens. More guts, resolve and will to win. Crosby's just got a prettier mouth (at least according to Bettman)
