Short answer: The difference is that Crysby (a player) shows little respect to the PLAYERS on Detroit. Whether or not we (fans) show any respect to an opposing (player) is apples to oranges. I am certain he couldnt care less what any of us really think about him pro or con. I want him to say nothing....except possibly: Meet you out at the golf course Tuesday morning Micheal. I judge him by a couple of seasons of watching him dive and cry on Center Ice. Is he a victim of his own celebrity? Maybe. I don't see him running from the reporters and the endorsement deals though. Negative attention comes with the package. Are we as fans sometimes over the top? Absolutely. That's what makes watching hockey so much fun.

I would like to see what Hossa could do in a winged wheel sweater also. In fairness, pretty much everyone on the Pens was invisible in the first two games. I don't think trying to sign Hossa is in the cards for Detroit, though. Then again....I never figured we would get Rafalski, either.

Fair enough. You are correct when you say that the calls have been inconsequential to our season. Thus far. Our boys have shown remarkable resilience in not letting this crap get them down and out of their game. If, however, you think that just because I have been signed up for four days that I am not entitled to an opinion, you are mistaken. For the record - while I did sign up four days ago I have been lurking for about three or four seasons. Not that I really care if that makes a difference to you or not. This would be a pretty boring board if difference of opinion was not allowed.

The way he whines I think someone might have swapped estrogen for testosterone.

Nothing is ever Cindy the Jakes' fault. After all, is the greatest player in the three year history of the NHL. His mommy told him so.

Overrated: Stuart (at least so far). The jury is still out on this one for me. He makes some really excellent defensive plays but then throws the puck up ice into the slot and causes bad goals. He is still learning the system though. Underrated: Osgood. 1.45GAA for the playoffs and still can't buy anything but backhanded 'workmanlike effort' comments from the gibbering gobs of sportswriters.

EPIC FAIL. Stevie at his best on offense was a force very few could stop. I've seen Dats go in 1 on 4 more times than I can count and come up with the puck and a good scoring chance. Crysby is a pretty good passer who cherry picks his goals and scores on the PP. Zetterberg, Ovechkin and a whole host of players past and present are better pure offensive talents than Cindy the Jake. Put Dats on this years Pens as the one trick show that Crysby is billed as and he is a 50 to 60 goal scorer every year. Crosby is a puke with a good PR firm.

QFT. I actually think Hossa has been their best player in this series and he is a rent-a-player that is definitely not coming back. With 14 UFA after the season the Pens have major and, possibly, unsolveable problems for next year. The smartest thing they could do is yank the C off of Cindy and find someone that could fill the leadership role until he grows up. Roberts might have been a good choice but he has since proven himself to be a sucker punching ****** and isn't fit to wear the C.

Quoth the pinhead on the Pens board: "Mario developed a heart murmur 4 weeks after Cheli turned him on to the stuff...coincidence?" What a bunch of pedantic assclowns they are over at that board. Drink your juicebox and take your nap now.

They should be able to...IIRC the cup got handed to Vladdi in 1998. I don't think there is anything that prevents it.

From the article: Michel Therrien, appropriately enough for his post-game posturing this week, coaches a team called the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Baby Penguins. Talk about poetic justice. And now he coaches a team known as the Pittsburgh Penguin Babies. How ironic.

Look at their five on five play or even just the number of shots they get even strength. This is a team geared specifically around capitalizing on whatever PP they get and playing not to lose the rest of the time. The very fact that they made it though the east so easily speaks volumes as to how weak the east currently is. Half a dozen of the western teams would have pounded the Pens in the finals. Had we not had two terrible turnovers and decided to take 40 minutes of Game 3 off, we would already be parading around with the cup and Cindy would be on the back nine this morning.

I doubt they are the only ones that complain - hell, I complain everytime we play Minnesota about the trap too. Problem is - it works and it is an effective system on a lot of levels.

I hate to see Cheli go...he lends a great leadership and mentoring role to the team. I think it's undeniable that he hasn't played this series much because he looked like such a pylon against Dallas, though. From a toughness standpoint he could probably play the game to age 60 but he is really struggling against team speed.

When was the last time a goalie that has numbers like these was NOT a shoe in for Conn Smythe? 13W / 3L 1.45GAA 3SO And the guy makes 800k a year? How much do the Dives pay Taydoor to suck? When is this guy ever going to get any respect in the league? I don't think we are even here without Osgood this year. The team simply plays with more confidence in front of him and the guy has been in the zone almost the entire year. He absolutely gets my vote. Maybe then the back handed compliments that he gets from talking head commentators might stop.

Not on his best day could Howard carry Hasek's jockstrap. I don't see a bunch of Vezinas in the kids future. Cujo was the best (only) player in the playoffs that year but Hasek was still a trade up. Kinda s***ty if you're Cujo but part of the game of hockey.

By strict interpretation of the rules I agree. The problem I have is this ticky-tack crap gets let go a hundred times a game when it's any of the other twenty players. Penalties used to be rare in the playoffs; now stringing 5 minutes together without one is the rarity. They'll let someone bust Lidstrom in the mouth with a stick and not call anything but let Cindy the Jake cartwheel across the ice like he is the incarnation of Peter Forsberg and he gets the penalty every time. I don't even think 5 on 3 should ever be called unless the second infraction is a stick foul, intent to injure, etc. Obstruction is nothing but a judgement call and, at least on face, it looked like nothing but a way to get the Pens back into the game.

So what did Sidney Crosby really say to Zetterberg?
Mule Train replied to Coolio Mendez's topic in General
Wrong person for Cindy to ask...everyone knows that Eddie Olyczyk has them and where he keeps them.... -
The only thing Bettman gets sweaty over is the thought of Cindy Crosby.

Maybe we should wait until he is on the ice surface and drop giant Al right on top of his head.

QFT. All Pitt whining aside, the level of game throwing needed to get three Pittsburgh wins now by the officials would enter the realm of pro wrestling buffoonery. Nothing is going to stop Detroit now from hoisting the cup.

NBC's Powerplay Angle From The Blueline Is Horrible
Mule Train replied to Daniel Chosen's topic in General
Wish I had that option....I've got DirecTV and they blackout all the NHL Center Ice channels on national telecasts. I swear if we dont win Monday and I have to hear Pee Air's squeaky voice one more game I am going to projectile vomit on the TV. -
That's what the board is for...so fans can ***** about their frustrations. My personal one is people defending some of the hacks that officiate these games. If you can honestly say that some of O'Hallorans' disallowed goal calls are 'pretty god damn fair' then all I have to ask you is: What color is the sky in your world? You are sounding a lot more like Crosby than a lot of the posters here. Peace of mind is just a mouse click (to another site) away.

Make sure that whoever throws it puts a brick inside it first - just to make it carry farther...
