For those that don't know, this how things are based with Center Ice....pertains to other optional feeds. I'll break it down, since people still get confused (after 5 years). Game is on 4 (technically 5, but ignoring the French one) channels in North America Wed: TSN2 - Canadian national FSD - RSN (all of Michigan) CSN-CA - RSN (all of California north of Bakersfield and the greater Reno/Carson City NV areas) VS (JIP) - US national How blackouts work is, if there is a game on nationally the subscription service (GCL & CI) have to block you from the other channels showing it. GCL does both regional and national, since they want you to watch on TV...how it's contracted. SO for Wed, VS does not have national rights (JIP) for US, TSN2 does for Canada:: If you live in Canada with or without Center Ice (and/or GCL) - options are: TSN2 If you live in Michigan with or without Center Ice (and/or GCL) - options are: FSD VS (when prior game ends) If you live in California north of Bakersfield and the greater Reno/Carson City NV areas with or without Center Ice (and/or GCL) - options are: CSN-CA VS (when prior game ends) If you live anywhere else in the US than areas previously mentioned with Center Ice (and/or GCL) - options are: GCL Stream FSD CSN-CA VS (when prior game ends) If you live anywhere else in the US than areas previously mentioned without Center Ice (and/or GCL) - options are: VS (when prior game ends) Obviously your cable/satellite service has to have the national or regional channel going off the options available. Example...If you live in Michigan but your cable/satellite package doesn't already include FSD and you don't subscribe to Center Ice, you're SOL. Oh and sometimes zipcodes vary between GCL and CI. It's kind of strange, so bordering regions can be hit or miss. Directv has a good system for finding what region you are in when it comes to territories....however this doesn't necessarily translate to GCL.

No it's not Also, with the Tigers game going on...Is the game on FSD or FSD+? Right now it's listed as both. I don't know which to choose (I won't be around).

103 people in it at the moment

Actually I've had games 1-5 listed before the playoffs, since those had been scheduled. Games 6-7 were still a TBD time. I do hide the scores though, so that has to be helpful as well.

Oops, meant 2010-2011 Pittsburgh is #1 again, apparently 4 years in a row. A lot of teams in the south are in the bottom 5....shocking. http://www.sportsbusinessdaily.com/Journal/Issues/2011/04/18/Media/NHL-RSN-ratings.aspx

There is no right or wrong answer to this debate, just hearsay from people's opinions. Going into the deal (thinking on a pre-announcement of terms) this is what we had to go on. Versus/NBC Pros: Dedication to hockey as their primary sport, expanding viewership, increasing hockey programing (kind of a push at the moment) Cons: Still not widely carried, not quite a respectable sports network, broadcast personnel, limited team exposure, not much original hockey programing, NBC ESPN/ABC Pros: Exposure (hockey becomes more relevant on SportsCenter again), carried nearly everywhere, broadcast personnel (assumed), hockey related programing (e.g. The Season) Cons: Not the networks priority sport, games more likely to be on ESPN2, reduction in games aired (probably to start out), ABC These are the main things brought up between the 2 groups. I put these in order from my perceived conception of greatest value/concern to least value/concern. Both groups are dealing with a different style of NHL (prior to the lockout), newer generation of fans/viewers and advancements in technology; all of which shouldn't be a factor. There is good and bad between the 2, hard to say which would be better in the long run. Of course after the deal terms were announced it appeared VS/NBC had the better overall deal.

Putting Gary Thorne in and getting rid of Peee-airhead for NBC would please hockey fans all over the world by tenfold. Losing Milbury and Mr. "Tremendously tremendous" would be icing on the cake. Losing their current line-up would make NBC more respectable, and make up for the networks other shortcomings. At least Versus finally started switching up announcers with other teams' play by play voice (like Kenny ) http://www.sportsbusinessdaily.com/Daily/Issues/2011/04/19/Media/NHL-Turner.aspx

When will the NHL stop bending over backwards for NBC, when NBC itself doesn't really put much effort into hockey. Are there any NHL fans out there that actually like NBC?
-
Didn't want to watch FSD?

I've been meaning to ask Canada folks. How the hell does CBC pull off showing 2 games at once? Is there another CBC (CBC2?) that shows up at playoff time? I know TSN has 2 channels so they shouldn't have a problem with games overlapping there. For Versus the later games are usually JIP when the early one ends, but these 2 games start at the same time. Maybe they'll be unavailing new technology that will involve split screen

Right it's not like they are ran by the same people at NBC who cut away from OT of a playoff game so they can show the pre...pre-coverage of horse racing. Oh wait......

I'm watching (and more ) the NHLN unveiling of the schedule

I might give streaming a whirl when hockey is over. Don't expect every game or much support since summer is my down-time...not to mention I'll be sending some computer equipment for RMA. Plus not sure how strict baseball/MLB is on the streaming service.
