I don't questoin his know how or his grit. I'm just hoping that he is able to keep up with the speed of the game. The last thing we need out there is a pylon that will be a defensive liability out there.

"TCP/IP" by Parker. It's a reference book for networking. I'm still working on my N+ cert.

It's a very nice practice jersey.

Just curious if anyone from LGW is going to head West to check out the Wings/Griffins event at the Van Andel on the 19th.

My season tickets and special Red Wing event tickets came in the mail yesterday... so I am all set for next Wednesday. Woot!!!

Some friends and I are taking the day off work so we can go. I'm really looking forward to it. It should be a pretty cool event. I'm even doing some custom drawings to have signed so that they can be donated to the Griffins Youth Foundation silent auction.

Dandy was a versitile player with speed and could make a good first pass out of the zone. He was a good utility player and would do anything that the coaching staff asked of him. We've done a lot worse on the blue line. No he didn't put up a ton of points, but he wasn't expected to. It wasn't his job. Just like we don't expect any offense from Chelios... whatever guys like that can contribute is a bonus. Dandy was never one of my favorites, but I think that the team misses his speed and versitility.

Well, I'm hoping that he sticks it out in Grand Rapids for a bit so he can get used to the North American style of hockey. Grand Rapids will be a good place for him to develop and get used to a more physical game. I don't know how the pay compares between playing in the AHL vs. the money in Russia, but if there is an injury he could be called up in just over 2 hours and ready to play for a home game. Can't do that in Russia.

Look at some players, like Verbeek and James Black, who quietly scored a ton of goals... but they were never celebrated players. Hockey players, for the most part, deflect attention away from themselves. You don't see the excessive celebration and the whole "LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME" attitude that you do with other sports. That might be one reason that some players don't come to mind when it's time to vote for the HOF. Not all of the stars in the NHL 'shine'. And I think that too much importance is put on the number of rings you won when voting for the HOF. There are a lot of players out there that have a drawer full of championship rings that aren't HOF worthy, but they played on teams that dominated. Look at our own Red Wings. Draper, Maltby, Holmstrom all have multiple championships... but that doesn't make them hall of famers. Lidstrom has three rings, and a Smythe, multiple norris trophies, olympic gold, and has been considered one of the very best to play the game for a long time. Third and fourth line players are important, incredibly important, to winning the cup. You don't win without solid depth... but they generally don't make it to the HOF.

Didn't Neely have 3 consecutive 50 goal seasons? He did do a lot in the time he was in the league. I'm on the fence about him being in the HOF, but he was a pretty dynamic player Edit: Cam had 3 fifty goal seasons, but they weren't back to back to back. He did have 2 fifty goal seasons in a row though, and nearly 400 goals in a fairly short career for a HOF'er.

I've never been a big fan of the logo. I think that the Griffin is rearing back, looking passive and defensive. I'd prefer to see one that is being aggressive, heck, I'd like to see the actual team look more aggressive. That's just me. I'm one guy with one guy's opinions.

Anyone who scores 600 goals should be in the hall of fame. Dino was a hot head and a jerk, but you loved him when he was on your team, not so much when he wasn't. But the hall should judge you on your talent, as long as you didn't cheat, your personality shouldn't factor in one way or the other.

The hockey hall of fame is the easiest HOF to get into. They don't call it the 'hockey hall of pretty good' for nothing. Turgeon will be a lock, but probably not his first time up.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?i...ce=NHLHeadlines I had an opportunity to meet Mr. O'Ree when he was here in Grand Rapids for the AHL all star game a couple of years ago. He's a great guy and had time for everyone. He signed tons of autographs and had a million stories to tell.

I'm reading "Perspectives" right now to help me draw more dynamic pictures. I'm trying to get a more interesting look to my drawings.

What's wrong with standing in line with everyone else for the autograph session? I got my STH package and a couple of tickets for the Wings practice. I think this will be more fun than the red and white games that we had. Those were great, but I think that this will give the fans more. I'm wondering what the Griffins have done with their jerseys.

I know it is just a logo... but I've never liked the skating penguin logo because penguins don't have legs. Their feet attach directly to their torso... they waddle, not skate and the 'legged' penguin freaks me out a bit. I liked the old penguin profile logo, or just the plain black and yellow "PITTSBURGH" college style jersey. THat's just me, I'm one guy with one guy's opinion.

I could see the Canucks giving the Wings some trouble when they play out in VC. Big time zone difference, gritty team, and one of the best goalies in the league could spell fits for the Wings.

I should have known that this thread wouldn't be as popular as the "What are you listening to right now" thread. Right now, I'm reading a N+ certification manual. Yaaaawn!!!
