I really wish Pat Kane was Canadian, if he was, my choice would easily be USA. I'm just going to enjoy the games and hope the Red Wings players stay healthy. A USA vs. Canada gold medal game is my best case senario.
-
For a Red Wings fan standpoint, this is good news but...it's bad news for Sweden. Holmstrom CAN be a gamebreaker, people always underrate Homer's presence. I remember TONS of people on the boards writing him off in the off-season, the guy is STILL a warrior.
-
I've said it before, I'll say it again...Ericsson does not look like an NHL player.
-
taken from norrisnick hfboards this is how many goals against for every 60 minutes of ES TOI. A GAA for skaters. Up to date as of 1 or 2 games ago. Lidstrom - 1.91 Rafalski - 1.94 Kronwall - 2.01 Meech - 2.22 Lebda - 2.35 Stuart - 2.47 Ericsson - 3.60
-
I disagree, and with how much ice time Ericsson is getting, he's hurting the team way more than Lebda with his sub-par defense.
-
What?? I'm sick of hearing it because I don't feel he's shown any potential. The way I see it, he's constantly out of position, pinches when he shouldn't, doesn't use his size and can't win 1-on-1 battles in the corners. The other night against the Ducks he had a great pass to Filppula, but that was the first really impressive thing I've seen him do in weeks. He's on the ice for more goals against than any Detroit player by a long shot. By the way, I think not being able to "read the game" might be his biggest weakness. Your statement make me think you believe I have a personal grudge against him, I just judge his game and I hope he gets it together if he can keep his job here in Detroit. The reason I suggest we trade him is because he's still widely believed to have that potential you speak of, hence a greater return, I personally don't see it and I've watch 99% of his NHL games very closely.
-
Absolutely, Lebda has proved that he's an NHL player and he's better than people give him credit for. Ericsson is almost 26 and has been just plain terrible. I believe the organization just has a hardon for Ericsson because of his size and this team has a deficiency in that area. At least Lebda can get a shot on goal, 99% of Ericsson's shot are way WIDE. Lebda > Ericsson and he makes less, I'm stick of hearing about E's potential at this point.
-
I wish they would just waive May and trade Meech, Ericsson and Leino.
-
I have a feeling that Meech's goal last night had something to do with the lop sidedness of this poll. I hope ken holland has a longer memory than you guys.
-
Why waste time trying to develop a player that is almost 26 and doesn't even have the fundamentals down yet? He's not your standard rookie and I still haven't been convinced of his "potential" other than his obvious size advantage (which he rarely uses). At the moment, I'm totally convinced that he's a bust.
-
Don't let the numbers fool you, Ericsson is the undisputed turnover champion of this team. Since we have to shave some salary I say we dump Lebda, Meech, Ericsson and Lilja and go after a solid bottom pair defenseman. Kindl/Janik can easily replace one of these guys.
-
Regardless of who's wearing the 'C', he's the most vocal leader on this team. You don't have to be in the locker room to know that. As useless as Chelios was on the ice in his last couple years, I think is leadership has been missed this season.
-
as long as the One Guy doesn't score 4 goals, amirite?
-
I hope Zetterberg plays like we know he can tonight, he's looked as old as the number on his back lately.
-
Helm/Filppula/Kronwall (before the injury) appear to be the only Red Wings players that are improving their game. For awhile I thought Filppula was a bit overpaid and wanted to see him delt for a guy with more scoring ability, but I think he's such a solid 2-way player that he's worth his contract.
-
I'm glad someone else sees it that way. I wish we would trade Ericsson while teams still consider him a player with potential, I think he a bust.
-
The veterans are still some of our most "effective" players. Lidstrom, Holmstrom, Draper, Osgood (until he fails in the playoffs, I still give him the benefit of the doubt) all still key role players. When Holland feels that they are no longer needed, he'll just cut ties by not resigning them. Sure, they could trade players like Cleary, Filppula, Stuart, or any of our young guys, but that's not a rebuild. I don't see any of our top players being traded, especially because of their contracts. The team isn't in the position to rebuild. They are having a down year and maybe they won't ever return to being THE dominate force in the NHL any time soon, but until proven otherwise they still have one of the better teams in the league.

He's going to be sitting in on 'The Morning Show with Bill McAllister' for the "next couple days". I'm not usually a fan of this show, but McCarty fans might want to tune in. per gcom007: If you like McCarty on the morning show, e-mail 97.1 The Ticket and let them know. Whatever your comment, we want to know!" Make it happen.

He'll get that long term deal, I'd have full confidence in that. but good luck finding that shirt.
-
The only moves I feel confident in predicting are May being waived and Abdelkader being sent to GR. Other than that, I think a trade is inevitable.
-
A "still getting up to speed" Kronwall/Lilja is MUCH better than Meech. And a getting up to speed Williams/Holmstrom is better than Leino. So I expect an immediate impact. btw, Lilja has been working out/skating and practicing with the team for quite some time, so he will be rusty, but it's not like he's been totally away from hockey for the last year.
-
Maybe people should be more concerned with Holland not keeping tabs on the status of his players than blaming Mickey for being senile or an alchie.

corey perry, got it twice. FML.

He's on right now and has been all morning. His voice is trashed but got some decent radio skills.

How My Love 4 Hockey Affected My Feelings Towards B-Ball
b-random replied to rage's topic in General
My contempt for the behavior and attitudes of the players affected my fellings towards the NBA. It's a great sport, but the NBA sucks, period.
