another example of how out of touch the marketing department for the nhl is. do they have any idea on how to make the nhl a cool sport to get the average joe to watch ad be excited about the game? okay hear me out: i think ice hockey is the most entertaing sport to watch on tv, or live. why does the nhl settle for being looked at as a joke to the average football or baseball or basketball fan? by putting OLD ASS ROCKERS on stage for the opening "festivities" is furthering the opinion of the average retard, inturn causing the average retard to spew mouth diaria when they talk about ice hockey and the nhl. they audience that the nhl aims for is the same audience that listens to def leppard. bad mistake...they need to get younger kids thinking the nhl is cool. how do you get kids to think the sport is cool? put money into marketing all kinds of player types and their personalities. don't put the nhl on the back of sydney crosby. why crosby? he isn't that intresting. yeah, he plays with the pens, with malkin, and fleury...wow. he scores goals. make it fun...encourage fighting. market the sport to different ethnic groups. california has three hockey teams. they all sell tickets. they all are in cities with a broad spectrum of nationalities. the nhl should embrace that. educate kids about the game, and how it is played. make it simple. people are confused by two rules: icing and off-sides. thats it! hockey should be popular on the west coast. i think in the next five years maybe seven years you will see rollerblading take off (popularity wise) again. start preparing, and embrace that...you don't need ice! so it can be played out here on the street. and you don't need expensive equiptment on the street. the music selections the major sports choose is awful. for major events they need to have better selections. what is wrong with hiring a straight up pop group...is it too much money to fork out? would that be a business expense tax write off? the def lappard nhl fan base IS ALWAYS GONNA BE HOCKEY FANS. hate it all you want, but the jonas brothers (as much as i hate them also) would have been a major step in the right direction. argue that all you want, but more viewers would be intrested with that. and the bottom line is viewers. if you think the nhl really cares about entertain the currant fans...your trippin'. they want new money, more money. it is business, but the nhl could do the entire sport justice by cheesing it up for the tv....i know how much some of you will hate this, but i have to say it...this is an ongoing sore spot(nhl marketing) i also think that def leppard had there best days 22-24 years ago...give it up you cheese balls, you have turned into a cover band version of yourself!

you gotta make something super cool for "The NHL to educate the public about how hockey works." i mentioned the popularity of street hockey in the 90's. i didn't understand how the game worked when i watched slapshot when i was six, but that was what my brain wrapped around, furthering my interest in hockey. i also talked about logo recognition in the media, and on the street (rap gear was just one example, yaaass!)....how is that bad for the nhl? even nhl players try to make large revenues on clothing lines. the nhl does a sh*tty job at doing that already. somebody could do a much better job as a whole (not just clothes!) marketing the nhl to a young audience that will grow up to love hockey. so f*** you. its called being ahead of the curve. im real passionate about this, and the nhl should hire me. trust me..your idea of me would change after i started rippin' sh*t. disagree all you want, there is nothing wrong with a hipster kid rocking a wild red wings hat to junior high.

avery is right. the nhl needs a T.O. does the nhl even have a marketing department? i remember all the rappers wearing jerseys in videos in the '90's. i remember the movie about the mighty ducks. i remember street hockey was all over my neighborhood as a kid. you don't see any of that kinda thing in the media or on the street these days. the products the nhl puts out look dated. example- allisa milano's garbage, and the tribal style sj sharks hoodie they were selling ALL LAST SEASON. the designers they use on certain styles of clothing and certain logos really bother me. they are missing the boat. i believe the success of the nhl depends on how they market the sport through corny movies, through rap videos, and hiring some cutting edge design teams to create a look that will appeal to people who just don't want there favorite team on a shirt they wear while working on the camero. why does every kid on the west coast own at least 3 hats that have different color mlb logos on them. the nhl should have mass marketed that kinda thing, but even that might been too late. market your crap to the urban croud. and when i say urban i mean rap crowd, because people in new york and california think its cool, and they are the ones spending hella cash, because they sell weed. word. HERE IS A FREE ONE NHL-start making your stuff modeled after what n.w.a would wear in 1992. make all third jersey be old school 90's and 80's logos. even if that mean using the jets jerseys.

new staduim? the city of detroit HAS potential to be a great city. it is empty now. buildings are abandoned all over the place. there are spots that you can see redone, but around the corner....yikes. the economy is only part of the problem. they put that ford field downtown because the LIONS sell out every game...THE LIONS! the wings should be selling out every seat as well...what will they do with the joe after the wings leave...wonder if it will be like tiger stadium...did they rip that down yet...or is it still growing weeds. the problem is not the stadium, but the city...it is abandoned and depressed. Sorry detroit, i understand some people feel proud of the city (my mother especially). watch them build a new stadium in ann arbor.
