Chicago's ESPN 1000 reported the Hawks are in talks to possibly deal Patrick Kane and Marty Turco to Buffalo for Ryan Miller... take it for what it's worth. But there has been a lot of behind the scenes drama with Kane in the organization that I would be surprised by the trade but not shocked.

the red wings have been going through cycles for the past 20 years, only detroit's "ruts" are making it to the second round. despite the competetiveness of the league with the institution of the salary cap, you still just have to be better than 50% of the teams in the league to make it into the playoffs... not to mention if the wings move to the east. you don't have to be the best in your division or the wild card race. because the red wings have kept the same ownership, managment, and more recently committed to babock's coaching style, they will never have to undergo a serious rebuilding period that many teams including the powerhouses of the 90s have gone through.

My vote goes to Helm but unsung hero is hands down Drapes. I was at Games 3 and 4, and I don't think how well Draper played tranistioned over onto TV... he was blocking shots, causing turnovers and played with more intensity than a player half his age. Lidstrom worried me a little bit, he got rocked in Game 3 in the corners and struggled the remainder of the game.It was especially evident when he was managing the puck on the power play. In last night's game in the second period there was a pretty bad turnover. My standards for Mr. Norris could be a little high, and I could just being too hard on him, but hoping all the rest will do him good.

of course the wings only have one player... the guys picking the teams are from the penguins and blackhawks

Anyone else sad the Wings are away the night before Thanksgiving. When was the last time the Wings didn't play at home on the Wednesday before... and of all places Atlanta? Sorry if there is a thread already on this, but this is really screwing up a favorite Thanksgiving tradition.

i was at the finals game 5 in 08 and game 7 in 09, trust me i hate crosby as much as the next red wings fan, but i have to give the guy credit because with the exception of a few questionable comments during the finals, he is a great representation of the nhl. look at the other young talent, you are not going to see crosby at a strip club like ovie, getting in a fight with a cab drive over 10 cents like kane.... or half naked boozing in a limo on game night.

i cant say where i work, but i can tell you that i know for a fact that there are problems in the front office. mcdonough has turned around this orginization and rocky has alot of faith in him... he has alot more pull than most other presidents, considering he is a baseball guy. tension started with the abrupt firing of savard four games into the season. many posters are questioning why the hawks would sign hossa when toews and kane are ufas next season. to my knowledge, kane will not be resigned next year. tallon is not a fan and thinks he is too small. but any chicago fan knows that he is a crowd favorite and has alot of allies with the marketing team (who catapulted the hockey renaissance in chicaogo) and with mcdonough. this is also causing tension. do i think that tallon will be out as gm.... yes? do i think that yzerman will be his successor... NO! you have to remember who the assistant gm is and who his father is.

yes, the blackhawks are going to be in cap trouble next year... but if tallon wants to dump 5m its NOT going to be via hossa. there are plenty of other players who are way overpaid and dispensable. hawks fans just better hope they dont run into the problem they did this year and no one wanting them. tallon embarrassed himself last season by wrapping up 12m in goaltending, which ultimately prevented him from making a move at the trade deadline. with next year's ufa tidal wave it could go either way, but hossa isnt going anywhere.

i am so sick of everyone not respecting one of the greatest traditions in hockey. i know that you mainly throw an octopus on the ice during playoff time. but during the fall i was interning in chicago in a well known sports department. when the hockey season began and they found out chicago was playing the wings in the classic, you wouldve thought that chicago stole the name hockeytown. people jumped on the hawks bandwagon so fast and many of the SPORT WRITERS could not name more than five blackhawks on the team. i took so much crap at work that for the first detroit chicago game, i bought an octopus and threw one on the ice after the national anthem... though i bought two tickets expecting to get kicked out i didn't. here is a picture of me practicing throwing the octopus in the streets of chicago.

First time poster but long time reader of this site... I was wondering if anyone is going to the Winter Classic or if they are going to be in Chicago over New Years. Are any of you planning on going to a bar before/ after the game. I'm planning on going to Wrigleyville early before the game and will be in the area after and want to find a bar where Red Wings fans are....
