Man Homer is a badass. Takes the puck to the face gets up and skates to the bench with a look of a little discomfort. Hope he's all right and that was one hell of a second period.

If both teams keep this up the Winter Classic is looking really awesome.

Yea I just got that text from ESPN and was like WTF? I can't wait until we play them again, I hope Dmac will be in the lineup and give him that trademark smile... -
Now I hope we just don't sit back after we play well like we seem to do.. GO WINGS GO!

I thought that players were not allowed to cover the puck intentionally, am I wrong? The Avs player dove on top of the puck and covered it...

It's true. We have yet to see the Wings at their finest. I am still waiting to see a full 60min Red Wings hockey game. That being said, I still have faith in our team and believe that we will break this cycle soon. Tonight's loss was a hard one, not only for the fans but for the players themselves. They know they had that game won and they know why they lost. I doubt that there are any players in that locker room that thought "it wasn't my fault". They could all see things that they could have done better and helped change the outcome of the game. We need to get back to the little things in hockey. We can't just lose battles on the boards because we are up a goal or two. We have to finish the our checks too. I think that this might be the game to break us out of the funk we are in right now. Here's to looking forward to seeing the Wings play a FULL 60mins of Red Wings Hockey.

No regrets here at all. I mean yea he had a bad night, he's human. Even Lids has problems sometimes. I still think people are over reacting to the losses and are trying to find solace in bashing players. The Wings do have a tendancy to relax too much when we get the lead, it's not just the D it's also the O. But I for one, am happy to see him here long term.

It is a sad thing to see day in a day out, the endless bashing of players, coaches, and the GMs, that is unless its the Ducks GM(jk hehe). Truth be told this is a all some people have to look forward to. They come to this site not to talk hockey w/ fellow fans but to complain about everything and make up conspiracy theories about the Refs out to screw the wings (even if it does look like it time to time). We cannot say when it is going to end all we can do is hope it does. Welcome to LGWs Red Crazy, I hope the bashers don't make you think we are all like that...

What Gretzky said about building a "Modern Dynasty" is that teams tie up young talent for years so they can build a team around them. He did mention the Pens because they Have Crosby for life. He continued to say that they made it to the SCF and he can see them doing it consistently and a possible Cup title in the future. SO he said yes I can see it being possible for a team to build a "Modern Dynasty".

Cheli is still a great D-man. Yea, he doesn't see a lot of ice time but when he is out there he makes smart plays. I think he brings more to the team then he is giving credit for.. But to be honest I really can't see it bringing down the other two D lines.

I don't think Ozzie played bad at all. If you look at the goals scored most were due to failure to clear the puck and bad bounces which no goaltender could stop. Defensive breakdowns in front of Ozzie lead to this. And I'm not sure why some people seem to be so shocked about this game, did you guys watch the Stanley Cup Finals?? The Pens are not a team to be taken lightly, they have such a strong offense that seems to thrive under pressure. The Wings did play a great game but too many mistakes towards the end of the game lead to this loss. We will get them on February 8th for sure. Could be worse guys, they could have been the Panthers...

I don't really think the calls were that bad, yea a lot came our way but i do believe we got away w/ a lot of stuff ourselves. Like how about Drapper holding the stick, you know the one where he had his arms and leg wrapped around it As far as the Selanne interference call I thought that was a little much. Taking the goal back was a good call but come on we all know Shammy dove. Speaking of Shammy, he got away w/ a lot as well. All and all, niether team played up to par w/ what they are able to. The OT goal is questionable though. We just have to take these things one game at a time. Im not trying to point fingers just giving examples. We blew it over all just plain and simple.

Ozzie will be fine, yea he has made a few mistakes here and there but that IS Ozzie. I am inclined to agree that it is more of a D issue as a whole. Way too many times this year players are crashing the net w/out being picked up. I have seen players standing in front of Ozzie w/out a Wings player even looking at him. With that being said I don't really think it's something we will have to worry about as this season progresses. The Wings will fix everything, when everyone starts working together its like we have 5 D-men and 5 O-men out there. To be honest, I was more worried about how Hossa was going to fit in w/ the Wings but he seems to be fitting in to the works fine now.

It's all around the NHL right now. I have been watching every game I can and it's plain to see that the calls are very inconsistent. But as the post above stated, every fan is going to think that their team is getting the short end of the stick more times then not. The Ducks, I would say have it the worst from what I have seen so far this season. But that might be due to their play style as well... Watch any Ducks home game and you will always hear them chanting "Reffs you suck" over and over. Doesn't matter if the call was good or not. But I think it's in all sports the fans, players, and the owner want consistent calls but as they are called by humans it wont happen. If it looks like a penalty from the reffs perspective the arm is always going to go up...

That's a good point. As for the puck off the goal that one is alright by me. The icing one seems like it is going to become an issue but I can see how they are trying to protect the players.
