11/11 GDT: Penguins 7, Red Wings 6 (OT)

I am sorry but why are the Wings getting hit with all these 5-3 it seems to me the NHL does not want the wings to either win or blow a team out with the offense they have. This does not sit right with me to many 5-3's to let the other team back in to the game which is exactly what happened last night. Then give the other team a penalty when they are down by one so we can send this game to OT. Yet on the winning goal Dat's gets tripped with a kick to his skate and goes down with no call and leads to a goal the winning goal. And the NHL's golden boy wins in Detroit the team that beat him in the finals, the team that stole his winger and back up goalie. The night he has waited for since the schedule was released. Betman needs to Go away and stop prompting a Whinny ass kid and stop these mandates to the refs to keep the effing games close. I swear if I am ever in NY and see this peice of **** walking down the street I am going to clock him one. Sorry did not mean to rant just oh the hell with it the guy is a ******.

    Defense of "Hockeytown"

The Blog was indeed a great read and had a few errors, but I do not think most of the people that argue about Detroit having the title of Hockeytown USA would even notice. Wings lost to the Devils in 95 and to the Av's in 96.

    Bob Probert

If you have never seen him check these out on you tube. http://www.youtube.com/results?search_quer..._type=&aq=f Probie was a great guy sure he had a lot of off the ice issues and fought alot but he was great in the community and great with kids. He never backed down and stood up for his team mates. example He had a great year in the 80's leading to him getting on the All Star team and the wings making it to the conference finals losing to those f***ing Gretzky lead Oilers. I was glad to see him in a winged wheel again at Yzerman's number retirement night.

Best and worst Team names in the NHL

Best Team Names 1.) Red Wings (sounds like a violent red bull commercial though) 2.) Sharks (strike up the music and stay away from the water) 3.) Capitals (They bore you to death with their legislation) 4.) Avalanche (at least they came up with a new name hey Calgary) Worst 1.) Ducks (Quack Quack Quack Mr. Ducksworth) 2.) Blue Jackets (Ok so I hate anything Columbus plus try to find a matching tie) 3.) Islanders (play the music and they go in the water see Sharks)

    Why is Bettmen hated?

Why he is hated? For hockey purest he has done everything to get rid of the history of the game. Campbell Conference = Western Conference Wales Conference = Eastern Conference Divisions Smyth Norris Adams Patrick These names meant something to the game not a compass or direction heading. He wants to get rid of fighting. I agree with the obstruction rules to a degree, you need to be able to stick check a guy coming down the ice. He wants to expand to Europe yet does not want to aknowledge the superior Europe players in the league. He would rather focus on a whine kid from North of the boarder instead of building on the influx of Euro talent in the league. He is so hell bent on finding the next GRETZKY he is destroying everything we hold dear to NHL.

Top 10 Red Wings of the Last 15 years?

I agree some are bitter on the way he left or that he left. I loved watching him play I still have his Jersey hanging above the bar in its frame. He was a great player with Detroit it just sometimes happens that when you go to another town or city you can not find the same magic. (Thats what makes sports interesting)

Top 10 Red Wings of the Last 15 years?

Fedorov could not take the puck away like Dats, and give Pavel enough time in Detroit and he will pass Sergei in fan Favorites. I still like Fedorov he was a great Wing no matter what. But I still get amazed at watching Pavel skate.

Top 10 Red Wings of the Last 15 years?

Top 10 of the past 15 years 1a. Yzerman (No explanation needed) 1b. Lidstrom (No explanation needed) 3. Bowman (does not say anothing about just players) 4. Fedorov (He may have left unceremoniously but he was a hell of a player here) 5. Konstinov (I think Lidstrom would not have 6 Norris's had he never got hurt) yes seriously 6. Zetterburg (No explanation needed the next Captain after Nick) 7. Holmstrom (whatever watch slogan it was takes a licking and keeps on ticking) (I fear that his body is starting to brake down from the punishment from over the years, God I hope I am wrong) 8. Datsyuk (Gotta love those hands and moves) 9. Osgood (There's no place like home, There's no place like home, There's no place like home) 10. Vernon ( '95, '96, '97) (I may push Vernon here over Hasek as he won with a all star team in front of him.) I know Shanny deserves to be in here as well but I never did like the jig.

    islanders fire ted nolan

I agree it is a dumb move to let him go but it is an organization that has lost a lot of class over the years with the way they deal with players and media. Nolan did an outstanding job in Buffalo and was run out of town in my opinion he did not deserve it. I hope he lands a new job soon and does not have to wait between coaching gigs again. I would not mind him as a Assistant here. No matter where he lands I am sure he will do an impressive job just hope it is a good org with some class.

    You're the GM

I am the GM of Chicago We had a great rebuilding year with our young guns. We were in the playoff hunt till the last week and finished 3 points out of 8th in the west. This year we are looking for depth we would like to add a vetrean defesemen and a young goalie. 1.) Sign Brian Campbell to a long term deal 2.) Try to sign Dan Ellis if he makes it to UFA. He did not so I would not sign Huet (Bad deal sign a 33 yr old goalie when I have a 35 yr old currently) nope wait till next year and go for Aubin, Jean-Sebastien or 2 yrs for Luongo or Cam Ward 3.) sign Reasoner, Marty or Mike York to a 4 yr deal

    You're the GM

I am the GM of Washington; We finished strong but last year but I believe we are a team on the move up, with so many signings leaving the east for the west I believe with what we have done this offseason, we have made ourselves a power house for the next couple of years plus are recent draft picks coming up in the next few yrs should solidify our group here. 1.) sign huet to 4-5 yr deal 2.) sign a back up Goalie if Kolzig wanted to leave I would not stop him but, I would have sat down with him asking to hang on for another year or 2, and then make him a office position as he has been the face of the org for awhile. 3.) gone after Hossa to the best of my ability but would lose out to the almighty himself. 4.) signed Mirslav Satan and Brendan Shanahan for deepth. 2 yr deal each 5.) sign a vetran defensemen aka Rob Blake. 3-4 yr deal

Which teams could you live without

1.) I think we all agree is the Jets are back in Winnipeg no more white out in Az. except for Leinart dude your in Az get some sun. 2.) Atlanta to Hartford (because Carolina has a good fan base and brings revenue to the league) and the Whalers are back 3.) Florida to Cinncy makes sense but lets move it to a college hockey state like Wisconsin maybe call them hmmmm Milwaukee Beers suck it Betman. 4.) Yes too many teams in CA. so lets move the Ducks to Vegas 5.) I would love to Have the Av's move home too but the again bring in revenue so lets move Blue Jackets the Hamilton maybe call them the Thunder Cats I mean Cats yeah just Cats. Then we can restructure the league with teams in East and West and conferences and so on and so further. Good work is slow today Happy 4th
