I don't see how the loss of Bowman is a big deal. He had a very limited role in his last few years on the team, and the entire style of the Wings changed once Babs became coach. Bowman was a great coach and much much better than Babcock, but Detroit hasn't really done so bad since he left. Jimmy D and Kenny H are another story.

My only gripe is the amount of hatred some people here have for the team when an enforcer is not part of the roster. Calling the team patheticly soft and a bore to watch. I have no problem with an enforcer in the lineup and have stated this many times. I just DO NOT believe that an enforcer is going to be the determining factor in if the Wings get run, if the Wings have success in the regular season, and if the Wings have success in the playoffs. It is an entertaining want. Not a necessity in my opinion. My sarcastic remarks were in jest towards the "enforcer or this team is weak and wont be able to handle the post-season grind" comments, and my Mayweather comment was only satire. See, I have never even said anything remotely close to that, and you have no evidence that I have. Too bad.

This. Franzen is not coming back in four months, and even if he does the Wings will probably try to use that LTIR as long as possible until Franzen is 100%. They aren't going to bring him in if he can't provide his entire salary's worth of a roster spot. Also there is no way Detroit is getting Kovalchuck. Holland isn't stupid.
