They broke his AC joint.

I think you forget the Leafs/Wings home opener. How did the Leaves end up doing?
-
Philly is this year's Vancouver/Boston.
-
I think Blake could provide leadership, but I just don't think that having him as the go-to guy for one year is a successful solution long-term. And I'm not saying Blake wouldn't be a good captain.
-
40 goals. 50 assists. 90 points. Leads the team. Datsyuk gets injured in the first game of the season and is out for the year, allowing Filpulla to take his role as first line center.
-
I wouldn't be so proud to have the same mind as a management that repeatedly sends its team packing in late April. Just sayin. I mean the guy is turning 40 in December. How long do you expect this guy to be captain? One, two years?

Tired of Reading How Great Pittsburgh will be this Season

Two words: Hal Gill. -
Honestly I don't think the Sharks are looking for someone by themselves to lead the team. Just someone to wear the C as a formality and have the veteran guys carry the leadership role. That means you Joe.

I hear a lot of whining from my fellow Wings fans in here. Sorry guys, but with a locked up core that is only getting better, a goaltender that is unbeatable when he is on, and finally some at least competent wingers, the Penguins have every right to get praise this year. They have the grail. Detroit does not. It's up to them to earn their praise. -
Man I swear I thought Boyle would get it. How many years does Blake even have left?
-
Is anyone else really really pumped to start the season? Hearing quotes like these knows that the team wants to steamroll everyone they play.
-
He did not look very good in his first game. He had a fight and bowled over a Leaf. That's pretty much it.
-
The Lions suck. The Wings do not. The Wings had lost five games in a row and looked complacent during those games. Improving and looking like a determined team definitely helps with momentum in the coming season. I have been a fan since 94. You don't know what you are talking about, as per usual.
-
Like I said before, the Wings had a lot going for them after this game. Sure they didn't beat anyone up, but they ended the preseason with a great effort and should take that momentum to the games in Sweden.
-
Well I think convincingly beating a team in depth after losing five straight games is a win in my books. Wait, there wasn't a fight was there? Nevermind. Scrap the season. What a failure.
-
Okay, Eklund.
-
Then go watch another team. Seriously, if you don't like watching the team then don't watch and go be a Leafs fan. And ESAD, you realize you are crying for an enforcer in a PRESEASON game? The idiocy of you people is astonishing.
-
Who was in the lineup that game? And did it help Lidstrom?
-
Because it happened so often last year. Because enforcers have magical healing powers? WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL KENNY THIS!?!?
-
Yeah, would have prevented that injury. And May wouldn't have even been on the ice to prevent that injury. Shows once again you don't know what the f*** you are talking about.

Franzen got third-manned by Guerin.
-
It's funny, I don't remember anyone advertising the Wings championship DVD when they won the cup last year.

I think I heard the same thing last year when the Leafs dominated Detroit in their home opener. -

The fans on HFboards have been going nuts about how well their rookies are doing. In preseason games. It's incredibly annoying, honestly.
