Not whenever people think it is acceptable. Right now. And if the kid has played hockey, he would know what it is to pay attention. I'm sick of this "its only pre-season, so it's like a throwaway game for the regulars". f*** that. It is a way to get in the groove before the games actually count against you. Phaneuf is getting into his regular form so he can try to compete for the Norris again and show the Flames and the NHL why he was nominated in the first place.

Or maybe the other guy should have been paying attention. I don't care when you are playing. You don't let up for one second on any play, during any game. I would think those who were fans back in 2002 would understand why you don't let off the gas during any part of the season.

He may have given him too much space to go in but you can't just give the player the path to the net on a 1v1. You have to be between him and the goaltender unless you are trying to push him to the outside.
