He was the victim and was "avenged" by Probert, and they are teammates. The captain isn't going to say "Well I think he shouldn't have fought him" if he had believed that. Take a hit. Get even if you don't like it, but with your own physical play or by imposing yourself on the opposition. And yes, that includes a fight later on to send a message. Both are legal plays, yet one is apparently okay to fight about. He made a body check. Get over it and hit him harder. Don't fight him because you can't stand your own guy getting hit.

I agree with this. Also, I'd prefer it that you show me a video, because I like to view things on a case-by-case basis, and not made a blanket statement to judge a player. I don't think Sidney Crosby is a diving butt puncher because of the few incidents he has had in the past.

I'm talking about the "fighting" for the good of the game comment. The game is hockey. Fighting is not the game, and though it is entertaining it should not be the determining factor in if the sport is enjoyable. The whole "NHL has gotten soft and we need to change it" mantra has gotten old.

It is called looking on the bright side. It is better to have injuries now than in the post-season. It isn't saying they will be immune, just that having injuries now it preferable.

Micah with another rant. And I thought that this thread was missing something.... Honestly, if you can't be entertained enough by the game itself, then perhaps hockey isn't the sport for you.

I think they should at least start the game with five Swedes. If they split it up, that would be fine, but that would be amazing to have an all Swede line taking the opening faceoff.
