In all seriousness. Perhaps his two finest moments during his career. Thanks for the memories, Mac.

The new MICKEY REDMOND EVERYBODY!!!
-
He tapped him in the back of the helmet? Can someone put up the Downey video, because from my last recollection it was actual hard contact.
-
No, that is Sean Avery being a douchebag like he always is.
-
7.4 million dollars of what? What did Detroit get from Hossa in the playoffs? I hope THAT is a joke.
-
I'll be a fan of the Wings no matter what road they take. That is irrelevant (and even if I did complain, its no different as the people who call the Wings soft in the majority of threads here) No matter what, I'll give a player s*** for cowardly running a goaltender. That isn't tough, that isn't good, and that isn't hockey. Man up and punch someone's teeth out if you want to enforce. Throw an elbow at a forward like Gordie did back in the day. But don't ******* cheap shot a goaltender out of nowhere.
-
Based on what? Your strawmen? The fact that I don't think Downey would have helped Detroit's scoring? Or made Datsyuk and Hossa play better? I think you guys seem to misunderstand and assume I'm some "I HATE ENFORCERS THEY ARE RUINING THE LEAGUE" fan. I like fighters, and I like tough hockey.
-
I've seen nasty hockey, and honestly I'm not really a fan of it when it gets to the point of running the opposing team's goaltender because you are down 5-0. Man up and fight someone who can fight you back instead of running at someone who isn't even supposed to be hit. You know I like enforcers, and I would have loved to have Downey signed again, but THAT play was Busch League. It's a ***** play and if I was a fan of the other team I'd want Downey to get his head ripped off. What did Downey do that was wrong? Elbowed an unsuspecting player after the play. Made malicious contact with a GOALTENDER. Is that supposed to be "good" hockey? I thought good hockey was hard-hitting, tough action with great goals and battles for the puck. Not "Hey its a goalie, lets knock him over after the whistle" bulls***. I was a tenacious little bastard when I played but I'd never do that, and I'd beat the s*** out of any little snot that would do that. That was not Aaron Downey.

Pretty sure Complacency and Hossa lost us the championship this year. But hey, I guess having Downey on the fourth line would have inspired Hossa to not suck, right?
-
I didn't *****. You are continuing to make up strawman arguments. Come on now. You are in such a defensive mode you didn't even notice that mj was quoting "Miracle" as a joke. GMR: If you want to get on a soapbox about the horrible Euro ***** hockey infecting the NHL, go to Bettman. Or perhaps the person who invented the "elbowing" rule. Honestly, the "tough hockey" people are the ones acting more like girls than the "***** euro hockey" people are. Calm down guys. You don't like people like Hudler. Others don't like people like Bertuzzi, and don't like it when guys like Aaron Downey cheapshot goalies. It is called a difference of opinion, and you don't have to go about it calling the other people "*******", "goons", or using the "rolleyes" smiley to act like you are speaking with children.
-
Didn't say that. Take your strawmen elsewhere please.
-
I guess as long as you fight you can do no wrong according to newfy, and others are just "soft" for thinking that play was cheap. People can think of that play as a cheap shot, because last time I checked goalies (arguably playing the most important position on the team) are not supposed to have elbows flying at their heads after the whistle. THAT isn't hockey. You can be a rough and tough player without doing something like that. Someone a little defensive that one of Downey's plays is being criticized and not considered a "great way to defend the team"? I never called Downey dirty. I am just saying that I think the elbow was pretty cheap, and people can have their own opinions. Please don't get upset and defensive because others' differ from yours.
-
No one said that.
-
Aaron Downey pulled a cheapshot. Regardless of what the score of the game was, he pulled a cheap shot. After the whistle if I'm not mistaken. People can be glad he is gone for that reason. That isn't disrespecting him, that is saying they don't want him on the team because of the reason. Do I believe it is a good reason to want to be rid of a player? No. But that isn't disrespect. That is a difference of opinion. Just because Aaron was a classy guy for the Wings, defended players to the death, and was an honest hard worker doesn't mean people should be attacked for stating their opinion (whether you agree with it or not) on the guy. They didn't call him a ****** or say he sucked. They said they wanted him out after what he did in GR. That's it.
-
Manning up on a one-on-one fight and running another team's goalie. That's the same. Don't try to gloss over the fact that Aaron Downey did something stupid when he played for the Griffins.
-
Not if the soft players are much more talented than the tougher players.
-
That is horrible.
-
I'll like any team in the East that can beat on the Penguins as much as possible. AKA: Leafs/Flyers.
-
I still can't believe that caught on.
-
Just from the way he has been acting in Ottawa makes me feel like his motivation is only if the cards are laid out perfectly. Not a guy I would pick to handle adversity well at all.
-
I think I just found my title in that jibberish. "Good for the table saw, especially champagne" Hahaha what?
-
I didn't say that to disprove your point, I was saying it to point out that is a stupid idea of Wilsons. But considering it is the Sharks, making a move for him wouldn't surprise me.
-
Cause that's what a team needs with motivational issues. A locker room cancer.

You guys think Hudler tried his clucking technique on them?
