NHL Investigating Hossa & Pronger's contracts
Doc Holiday replied to Drake_Marcus's topic in General
Wait, there isn't a difference between 40 and 42? Two years is a BIG DEAL when it comes to sports. It is like saying that Filpulla will not change very much in two years from now, or that Lidstrom will not get much worse in two years. -
I thought Bertuzzi showed Detroit in 07 that he isn't what Detroit needs. But I'm pretty sure Williams did the same thing last time I remember... Oh well, at least we have a shootout specialist.
-
If Homer can do what he did in 08 then he is essentially useless anywhere else. If Franzen is bumped up Cleary should take second line. I also don't think Cleary would play terribly well with Franzen. Just an instinct.
-
I don't see why people want to have Franzen and Cleary on the same line. Franzen is a cleary with better hands. Why would we want two players of that similar skillset on the second line?
-
Basically. With Kane, Toews, and others, there is no will be no problem on Chicago's part bringing offense.
-
Samuelsson, Hossa. End of story.
-
Is Zada in the mafia or something?
-
Considering Kovy IS the Thrashers this doesn't surprise me. They need more salary, they need Kovalchuck probably more than any other team needs a player, and they have the money to keep him. I don't see this as a huge problem.
-
So, what? Without that injury he would have scored fifty goals in the regular season? What the hell?
-
So what will the 2nd power play unit look like?
Doc Holiday replied to Drake_Marcus's topic in General
Kronwall-Stuart Franzen-Filpulla-Leino Maybe? I don't put Cleary in this bunch because Franzen would be the muck it out in front of the net player, and it would be an absolute waste to have two players of that style on the PP when you only want one. Filpulla and Leino, both being Finns would be able to pave the way for puck possession in the O-zone, and Kronwall and Stuart are both excellent offensive defensemen (for a second pairing at least) and that would provide a very similar power-play (albeit less productive) to the first. -
Heatly rejected that possibility.
-
Because: 1. Hossa wasn't playing against some of the best defensive players in the game. 2. Hossa didn't do well in THE ENTIRE PLAYOFFS
-
What I'm saying is comparing Crosby to Talbot simply based on points in the FINALS is completely baseless, considering what Crosby did in the previous rounds, what Malkin did in the previous rounds, and who Crosby had to face in the finals. That was my entire point.
-
Hudler was on the ice for Talbot's second goal. Stuart is not a great defensive player, and Kronwall isn't detroit's "best". No matter what you try to do to spin it Talbot DIDN'T play against Detroit's top players.
-
Talbot was not shadowed by Detroit's best players. And on Talbot's goals he had to face players like Stuart and Hudler. That is a great defensive line in your opinion?
-
Crosby was shadowed by the Wings best players. Talbot was not. You can say whatever you want about those two games (game seven in the SCF and game six of the quarterfinals), but at the end of the day it was Crosby who led his team as a captain and Malkin who led his team as a forward. Talbot was a great role player, but you are kidding yourself to think he was the sole reason the Penguins won the cup, or even the biggest reason. But please, don't let me stop you.
-
Your analysis makes sense, which is a good possibility to why this injury wasn't noticed by the Chicago doctor till after. He could have even been injured in game seven of the SCF. We don't know for sure, and unless he was injured the entire playoffs, we can't just let him hide behind the injury and say "It's alright Marian, nothing you could do." A question I have, however, is did Marian suddenly tell the doctor shortly after signing the papers, or is he making up some kind of excuse as to why he told them well after becoming a Hawk? Perhaps better insurance policy in Chicago? Also, breakdancing should be replaced with this:

Exploiting? There is doubt. You are acting like there is none and insulting others in the process. Had you not called a select few posters morons in your opening post, I would not have called you out. I also have no qualms with Hossa leaving, he was never a scapegoat for anything (I firmly believe the TEAM failed in bringing home the cup this year, not just Hossa), and you are trying to lump me in a category I was never a part of to help justify your insulting tirades. Like I said, you are on your high horse, and I'm just saying you shouldn't jump the gun. You are getting overly defensive based on this. See image above.
-
Most probable, yes. 100% fact, no. If that is truely the case then Chicago should fire their team doctor for missing this before the signing. How the hell do you miss that? Flip: You are the one acting like a child. Accusing me of things I never did, screaming and carrying on in all caps, insulting other posters, and refusing to address the fact you do not have proof, but speculation. We are aware he is injured, and we have a good idea of what the injury is. I never said he wasn't. You however do not know for a fact when the injury took place.
-
Calm down sparky. I did not edit my post in any way after posting. I have no idea where you even got that from. Regardless: 1. You don't have definitive proof. 2. You are still acting like an ass even if you did.
-
Who knows what happened? Brandon Inge of the tigers was out for a few weeks for putting a pillow under his son's head. My point is don't act like a know-it-all when the evidence hasn't even been presented yet.
-
"Wow look at that, Hossa really WAS injured in the playoffs" is not speculation. That is an assertion. But for arguments sake if you were just speculating, why are you calling other posters morons? You are only speculating he may have an injury. You haven't proved that he was injured in the playoffs, so why are you poking at others for your "speculation"? Take your own advice, and read your own quote. Take a look at the part I bolded for you in BIG LETTERS, and see why that isn't evidence of anything.
-
What is this now?
-
Yes. Talbot didn't lead the Penguins.
