Hasek '08?

Did dominator just say that Talbot LED the Penguins? Rearry? Micah: I pretty much agree with you.
-
I can definitely agree with this, which is why I responded to skacore's post which stated: Assuming Detroit doesn't have many fans in the arena in comparison, that Chicago has actual cheering compared to Detroit, and that Chicago's players can feed off their fans, unlike Detroit. Those assertions, plus the sarcastic coating, were what brought my posting in this thread to begin with.

They are a canadian team. Hockey in Canada is like Football in the US. Look at how the Lions have done ticket wise considering their horrible numbers. When American teams in the NHL suffer, their numbers will not keep up. (Btw I am led to believe the entire lower bowl is filled with corporate junkies who really don't understand the game. I've spoken to a few Toronto natives who are pissed they can't buy tickets because assholes like them feel the need to purchase lower bowl seats) That's a mighty big blanket you are spreading. Do you mean the majority here? Also that wasn't my point. I believe that it is unfair to consider the Joe a "horrible place to play at" considering Detroit's record and that "the fans don't cheer." I thought Sakore (sp?) was wrong in stating that Chicago was a much better place to play (or what seemed in his words, an actual place to play unlike the "library of the joe"). Right now, yeah they have a lot of enthusiastic fans. But Detroit isn't some bottom feeding hockey town here.

Signing Downey won't keep Franzen from turtling, or guys like Samuelsson (yes I know he is on the Nucks) from hiding behind the linesmen. And that won't keep agitators like Drapes and Maltby from being in the lineup either. Besides, I thought the Wings problem in the regular season last year was defense, complacency, and goaltending? And another thing, there isn't much to answer to the poster. The Hawks signed another player. Good for them. He didn't make a point regarding the Wings, or make any kind of statement other than the obvious "Player X was signed to Team Y".

Interesting article about the cost of recent years trades by wings
Doc Holiday replied to a topic in General
I wouldn't count them out yet. They have two of the top 3 most gifted offensive players in the world right now, a competent coach, and a good set of role guys. And those same players are in their twenties. -
That would be incredibly great as a Wings fan to see.
-
Everyone saw this coming. I will definitely be watching this game. Cannot miss a legend get his number retired.

The Devils are the only ones who are comparable. And Detroit has more championships anyway. -
Too soft. What are we going to do guys? We didn't have an answer for Bufuglien(sp?) in the post-season, and now we have to play against even more tough guys. Top pick anyone?
-
Enter Osgood. Point being? This is not a "regular season" team. This is a playoff team you fool. Just like Anaheim was. That is right, because he played BETTER. Against better competition with weaker teammates. WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO HE LOST REGULAR SEASON GAMES!! IF ONLY WE HAD A GOALTENDER THAT HAD A GREAT SAVE PERCENTAGE IN THE REGULAR SEASON BECAUSE WE ALL KNOW THAT IS WHAT WINS THE CUP!! What about the 08 postseason? When was the last time Osgood flunked out in the postseason with Detroit? Hurr with an "elite" goaltender we wont have nearly the same assets up front that we do now. Osgood is dirt cheap, we have a lot of cap space for our players, and he does his ******* job. Wins in the regular season, and lights out play in the post-season. Seriously, just sit down.
-
So could Stuart, Datsyuk, Hossa, Hudler, and just about everyone. Osgood was our third best performer, AT LEAST.
-
I'm calling you out on your sarcasm towards the hockey team, not your opinion. You don't have to sound like an ass about it.
-
What SHOULD he have done? I'm all ears.
-
Who took Detroit too seven games in the finals this post-season? Thank you, and never voice your opinion about Chris Osgood ever again. You obviously don't know what you are talking about.
-
Your opinion. Whatever. What were the Hawks numbers when their teams sucked?
-
I wouldn't consider second best home record in the West weak. Every time I went to the Joe it was loud. Go to Atlanta, Florida, Tampa Bay. You'll see more Red Wings fans there. Those are quiet buildings.
-
I'm also not going to run around touting how bad my fans are when that is a seriously overblown belief. We have better fans than the majority of the NHL, and I find it irritating when people make sarcastic jobs at the fandom there is here in Detroit.
-
"OUR FANS SUCK!!!"
-
We aren't in a crisis, they just choose not to produce much oil. Consider where we were in gas last year and where we are today. Two full dollars cheaper.
-
Not really. Pens with Therrien and Hossa's contract were worse. Detroit WAS his best option. Also, making jokes about Hossa or Kopecky isn't "classless" or "butthurt fans". It's being fans. Just like we do to Robert Lang and Jason Williams.
-
And it only took...two replies.
-
When Hossa came here, the fact Kopecky was his "best bud" was the big deal. When Kopecky sucked, they talked about keeping him simply because "it would keep Marian on the team" I HAVE closed the book on his departure. There are just a few of you who are too quick to pull the "You guys are just mad they left!" card. They have made this joke while they both were on the team, and there is no reason to stop now. Just lighten up guys.
-
Are you kidding? People were calling Hossa "Kopecky's meal ticket" since day one. Where have you been?
-
Wow your response to my typo made me laugh. Haha, I'll have to correct that.
