Surprised to see Shero up so high. He has done well, but when you start out with guys like Malkin and Crosby and only have to pick and choose a depth guy or two to work with, how much have you been tested in your career? I would also like to point out how lucky Shero was that Hossa turned down his multi-million dollar offer. Had he accepted that deal, they would have been in such cap hell they would have lost guys like Orpik and would not have been able to get Guerin at the trade deadline. So basically, no cup in 09 and a repeat for Detroit had Hossa stayed put.

And you think that four years is a good length of time for that contract? Two years, max. The guy is a legend and all, but even Yzerman knew when to hang em up.
-
Did Bro get a piece of Bert's shot on the shootout attempt? If not it would seem like classic Bertuzzi: Have a great chance and f*** it up in the last second.
-
Why? He is coming back to Detroit guaranteed probably better than he was before he left. You'd rather lose him outright to free agency simply because it is in the same league (where he would be playing against an opposing team)?

Babcock blasts team as Wings help Oilers to victory
Doc Holiday replied to DMAC 25's topic in General
It really didn't, but okay. Babcock shut down Crosby with his matchups, and put Malkin against players who could provide the equal amount of production and they didn't. There is only so much a coach can do to motivate players making millions of dollars (and not terribly younger than him). Players need to be responsible for themselves, and the fact of the matter was the team in itself was not slow or unmotivated. It was specific players. Not a chance in hell that Babs was out-coached by a rookie who had two generational talents on his side. Bylsma is great, don't get my wrong. But he wasn't some coaching god that dominated Babcock. They both let it up to the playes with their matchups (which were great on both sides). Dan's players won out. -
Babcock blasts team as Wings help Oilers to victory

I didn't know Babcock was supposed to score for Datsyuk, Hossa, Hudler, Samuelsson, and stop guys like Malkin, Staal and Talbot. That is a player issue, and if Babcock's players played the way they were supposed to, you wouldn't even be talking about how he was out-coached. What a bunch of garbage. -

This just in: Babcock overrated! Wings fans looking to switch for Therrien! -
Hossa also scored 40 goals in the regular season while injured. In the playoffs he only scored in three games. Also going back 4 years doesn't help Franzen since he wasn't a top line player till the 2008 playoffs. His role was third line defensive forward, not scorer. Ability-wise, no. But Franzen has proven himself when it counts, and that is what this team needs.

Crosby is the ****. I'd take Hudler over him ANY DAY. BOOK IT!

Red Wings Appreciation- Playing Thru Injuries Like Warriors
Doc Holiday replied to Miller Brew's topic in General
That said I still believe they are underacheiving. Babcock himself said that the Edmonton game was not "Red Wings hockey". They need as many wins as they can get now and there is no room for them to have these kinds of games. -
No, you didn't know because you didn't see him in training camp and didn't have an expert opinion on his performance in relation to his peers now did you? Everyone acts like Quincey is the second coming because his offense grew higher with more ice time and powerplay minutes. Get over it already. Quincey did well in other places and Detroit management did what was the best decision for them at the time. Sometimes decisions don't work out the way you plan them, but that's how any business works. Suck it up and move on for f***s sake.
-
He was on the ice for like five minutes. He skated a bit, took a couple shots, then walked off the ice. Have you ever been hit in the knee before at high speeds? It is a *****.

"Don't make me angry. You wouldn't like me when I'm angry."

I slept like a baby after game seven of the Stanley Cup finals. How did you sleep? Oh wait your team didn't make it that far. I find it cute how you take the time out of your day to go to a Wings board and troll fans who honestly don't see how Chicago is going to make these contracts work without moving a lot of salary. Any ideas? At least there were some scenarios regarding KKT that were plausible. Any in this one?

This couldn't have gone in the same thread? Also it was posted already.

100% because I'm a die-hard Red Wings homer.

If the kid didn't see them play, what makes them such a fan? I'm not a snob. I'm just straightforward with what I prefer in a jersey, and also it is considered a jersey foul to certain people despite you disagreeing.
-
If the jersey directly translates to the era it represents then it is fine. Personally I've never been a fan of Howe jerseys because the majority of people who wear the jersey never actually saw the guy play. Also did Howe ever have his name on the back of his jerseys? Yzerman also never wore the RBK edge style Wings jersey, despite the similarities to the CCMs.
-
Also a jersey foul.
-
Probably the same thing. Strange that he wanted his opinion to be known, though.

The great Brad May with his opinion on the hit:
-
My point is his contract will seem smaller if the cap goes up. You are only proving my point when you say salaries for other players will go up. His will stay the same, so a 4.2 million contract may look like 3 million by the end of it, or smaller or bigger depending on the cap.
