No, Drake is spot on. Ovechkin may or may not have the skill, but he doesn't utilize it because WINGERS DON'T TAKE FACEOFFS. Shot blocking can be done by all players. Goaltending is irrelevant because they are even more different in skillset and statistics. Faceoffs are primarily a center's job. Why should Ovechkin be knocked for a job that he isn't even supposed to do? You can give him crap for backchecking wish I wish he did more, but not faceoffs.

I think he is talking about with profit and fanbase. The US has a much larger population than Canada, therefore it makes more money than a primarily Canadian league would. Doesn't mean the US is much more of a hockey country than Canada.

If those same players were good enough they would be able to play when in college and minor league teams. The Olympics would be even more amazing because those same players would only be able to make one olympic year in their lifetime, instead of two or three for the much better players.

Their defensive game was perfected when they started playing the North American game, so I don't see how that helps your case that the KHL is a better league to get ready for the NHL.

North American hockey is different than European and Russian hockey. If they want to adapt to the game, take your lumps and play in an inferior league to prepare yourself for the best league in the world. Perhaps they will do better skillwise, but at the same time skill doesn't always make you a great NHL player.

He took the brunt because Babcock made it so. Malkin was weak in the finals last year and Crosby played much better, so he went with the better odds. He would have wound up winning if some players (Hoss, Dats, Huds, etc) had shown up when it mattered. Anyways, Crosby has a cup, and that is great of him to win it. He was their leader and was a big part of the cup win. Just like Yzerman was for the Wings. Crosby is a superstar, and you could pick either him or Ovechkin. I prefer Ovechkin but for my own reasons that differ from others. Big ******* whoop.
