Seriously, what is with you personalizing this discussion? I have mad respect for Crosby and the only thing I did was nitpick a list. I'm not going to bother discussing something with a person who is arrogant and acts like they know my opinion of someone. Seriously grow up.

In his early years they talked about the problem of him being undisciplined. And I have to agree. The guy never shut his mouth in his rookie year. Forsberg thought he dove one game and Crosby came out of nowhere and starting yammering away at him. He took a few bad penalties against the Wild and, after scoring while Crosby was in the box, Kovalchuk pointed at him, causing Sidney to drop the f bomb three times. After his rookie year once he let up on the attempted trash talk the sportscasters didn't have much to diss him on.

Until I see something that indicates that the coaches gave him the C for leadership instead of his talent and the fact he is the face of hockey today, I have every reason to disagree that his leadership abilities are the cause of it. I think he is a great player and I believe he will become a great captain and a great classy player, btw, so I guess that ruins your whole "vendetta against Crosby" argument.

I think it is hard to compare the two when the Lions play at home 8 times a year, while the wings play 41.

But you had it in there thus giving it significance. His C does not prove him as a great leader but more of his ability and his significance to the NHL. That was my point.

Why must we prove a negative? You are the one who stated his C was important to that list of yours. I disagreed because of the fact he is the most marketed hockey player in sports, and is becoming the best player in the game today. I also mentioned his attitude after game 4 yammering at Zetterberg because he lost the game. That is undisciplined which in my opinion shows me he is not ready yet to wear the C for the leadership role.

Which I am happy for. And I hope the rules bend a little more in the middle of the old and new. I hate clutch and grab but a lot of penalties now are very iffy.

Rules for starters. I think a lot of die hard hockey fans don't like the "dont touch me with your stick or you'll sit for two" aspect of the game now.

I'm sorry, does 7 (?) shutouts mean nothing to you? Without Hasek in game 6 we would not have won the series against Colorado.

If you won't agree with the whole captain issue, at least get rid of the penalty minutes. That isn't a positive stat.

Show me some leadership and I'll retract it. But the way he acted in the finals didn't deem him very fit of a captain spot. Going after another player after losing is unbecoming of a captain and the pressure doesn't change that. If he is pressured then don't give him so much just because he is becoming one of the best players to play and the face of the NHL. I think it is great the NHL has a face to bring to the masses and I am glad for Crosby to be in the position he is. He is a great player and his team deserved it. But after his conduct in the finals that sways me away from thinking he deserves the C. Its my opinion but you cannot lie that his talent plus the fact he is marketed more than any other player is a HUGE factor in the C. And I'm not a Crosby basher. Just because someone critiques the new face of the NHL doesn't make him a hater.

Maybe if he wins a vezina then he will be thought of as a "pretty darn good" goaltender. Personally, I don't care what people think of Ozzie because he has been loyal to the franchise since he's been here, won 3 cups (1 starting, another backing up a "better veteran" then coming in after he choked), in the top 15 in wins, best win percentage in that category, one of the top in playoff wins (best in the franchise), 2 (?) Jennings trophies, was a candidate for the Smythe this year, reworked his entire style of goaltending in a year to adapt to the butterfly, had winning records on two terrible teams, carried the Islanders to the playoffs, and makes great saves when it is asked of him. I think I'll ask those stats if Osgood deserves some mad props.

Not to nitpick but I think the bolded don't really need to be in there. Doesn't Crosby getting more penalty minutes mean he isn't disciplined? And I don't believe that he is a sufficient captain. They gave him that C because of his talent, not his leadership.

Umm the Wings wouldn't have gotten Hasek if Holland wasn't part of the Wings staff. Without Hasek we don't get that cup.

I wasn't, because his play was nonexistent half the time. Hossa was the only one who had me worried.

I only like marketing other players to that degree because it attracts people to the sport. Hockey needs that because I am sick of having to rely on Versus and CBC to give me all of my hockey news. I want ESPN to take notice and have their sportscasters know hockey and discuss it. Btw one thing I really hate is how they are making a documentary of the guy. I don't care who's team he is on he can't even drink yet and they are talking about his wonderful career. Wait until he breaks the point record and becomes a hall of famer and wins a couple cups and becomes a great leader. Honestly Crosby isn't THAT great. And I would feel the same if Henrik received that publicity, because neither are there yet.

I understand, and I would like to have someone to lay the beat down once in awhile, however I don't believe it is paramount to have an enforcer in the line-up to prevent people from taking pot-shots at our guys. I agree we should have an enforcer, but for different reasons.

Hey GMR how many times did the Wings get ran or intentionally slashed when we didn't have an enforcer? Look what happened in the finals when Osgood got ran by Sykora. No enforcers in sight yet guys like Franzen were laying the beat down.
