Well at least Roenick entertained the idea of fighting Probert. Bertuzzi was chasing a fish that didn't want to bite.

I never did think that hit was an elbow. Naslunds face was right where his elbow is supposed to be, no matter what he did he couldn't have stopped his elbow from making contact with his face. He was just very low when he got hit. I never thought it was a dirty hit and I really don't think Bertuzzi's sucker punch (if that is all he did) is justified from that.

I thought the cap was based on AVERAGE salaries...

I never doubted why they get as much as they get. I just believe that to get upset over not being paid 1 mil more than you think is pretty childish when looking at the bigger picture. Of course, some cases are justified.

We can only disagree on that point, because I see Bert drive into him. Watch his left arm. Lemieux fell on his back and McCarty didn't fall on top of him or bring him down. McCarty punched him (Lemieux saw him coming too) and did only that. If Lemieux was unconscious we could compare, but he wasn't, and never risked any serious injury, so what is the similarity here?

McCarty never put his weight on Lemuiex. He grabbed him by the collar and punched him repeatedly. With Bertuzzi the same deal would have happened. Lemuiex would be badly bloodied up but wouldn't have any neck inujuries or lasting effects. Completely different.

I doubt there are that many in each field that get paid millions. Hundreds of NHL stars (not including owners, managers, coaches) vs a handful of CEOs in each field. As an architect I only plan on making $200,000 if I become the best at it. Also I don't know what this "pressure" is all about. They get to play a sport they love, and I can tell you right now I would be happy with $500,000 if I played in the NHL, even with the practices, games, and meetings. I'm sure they don't have to deal with the stress that happens in everyday jobs.

Is this a joke? McCarty punched him. When exactly do you get a career ending injury from that. People fight all the time and no one ever asks "but what if they got injured". Lemuiex had a choice to defend himself, but instead decided to turtle and attepmt to protect himself. McCarty didn't ram his head into the boards, or knock him out then proceed to punch him. There is no way you can compare those two events. McCarty's was retribution. Bertuzzi's was sadistic revenge. Also, Lemuiex was a dirty player. He punched Kozlov in the side of the head through a ref in 96 after a scrum involving neither of them.

As a Wings fan: Crosby. Phaenuf or Kronwall?

The empty seats at the Joe story probably doesn't help the city.

I don't get tattoos. They seem like a good idea but when you get older you will grow out of them but will still need to keep them. Not my favorite idea for a gift though if the tat has meaning that makes a lot more sense.

Osgood was on that "Criticism" quote so at least his are well founded.

So because he didn't play the rest of the season or be allowed to play overseas in the lockout, you mean to tell me there was no suspension or punishment?

Those criticisms were well founded, seeing as how Osgood needed 6 stitches due to a slapshot to the helmet back in 98 (I think).

Really? So Crosby, Malkin and Fluery wouldn't be as good as they are now without Therrien? And where do you get this discipline from? Pittsburgh had no adversity in the playoffs until they played Detroit. Two games shut out, they run Osgood, punch Franzen in the head multiple times, and play terrible hockey. Malkin was nowhere to be seen in the finals, and only a couple players even bothered to show up. When Pittsburgh was down 3-1, the "disciplined" Crosby skated towards Zetterberg and started whining. I suppose Therrien is to compliment for that seeing as how he placed the blame on everyone excect him and his team (see: obstruction) and wasn't able to provide any real fire after game 3. I'm sorry but how exactly can you compliment Therrien for that?

How about you turn off defensive mode and understand the fact that I disagreed with the assertion that Ozzie shouldn't be retired based solely on the fact that we are debating it. I never said anything saying it was dumb to discuss the issue. Geez get a grip.
