NHL Investigating Hossa & Pronger's contracts
under_par_00 replied to Drake_Marcus's topic in General
Geez that team is having a lot of paperwork problems this offseason. -
Hah yes I figured it was, he is nothing special. Id rather we went after Prospal.
-
Please, was this sarcasm or not?

Oh man, it hurts so much that Ive got to admit that is the first picture Ive seen of Crosby holding the cup since that horrible game 7 night (turned off TV right after I saw the Conn Smythe awarded). Why did I click on this thread? Ive been avoiding it for so long. FML.

Edler will definitely be on the team.
-
This deal wont happen, who would the Leafs give up? I dont think they would give up someone like Schenn. Maybe they could ship out people like Grabovski and Kulemin but they Sharks would want more than that.

Who will man the right point on the second PP unit

Haha well he is definitely a lefty, and I believe he was a natural forward converted to defenceman. What you mean is that he is defensively responsible. -
I think Dats and Z have to be together like in 07/08. They are just too dominant together, and it is time for Filppula to get on the 2nd line. A second line of Franzen - Filppula - Leino (Cleary) is also pretty strong. Fil is good at faceoffs, and Helm has shown he is also good, so I suspect he will center the 3rd line.

If Dats and Z are reunited then I can see Z netting 40-50 and Dats breaking the 100 pt mark. Fil is going to have a better year than last year, and mark my words he will net 20+ and have more assists if he stays healthy. With the addition of Helm and Leino, the team next year will be able to put a nice dent into that 88 goal, 118 assist total. Plus they know that they have to play solid defence. Im not worried.

Filppula is going to have a monster year this year. 20 goals and more assists than last year if he stays healthy. Mark my words.

Can he play on it in the next World Juniors?

It all depends how you grow up playing hockey, if you are more comfortable with a right handed shot or left. I am also left handed and shoot right in hockey, but when I was young and first started playing, I had to use a straight stick because I couldn't make up my mind about which way was more comfortable. After a year or two I decided I was a right handed shot. I can also use scissors and a knife with both hands. If you are asking how hard it would be for a left shot to switch to a right shot, then it would be very difficult and take a long time to get used to. It is actually more comfortable for me to use a knife with my right hand, and I can just leave my fork in my left as usual, it makes for more efficient eating when you can cut and maneuver a fork at the same time! -
There's no way he can keep it up for a full season. His speed will be effective but his hitting game will pick up again in the playoffs I bet. It's not like his hitting is a great asset anyway, he is too small to play like that effectively.

Jeremy Williams & Kris Newberry sign with Wings / GR?
under_par_00 replied to titanium2's topic in General
Good point. Player development in Toronto sucks. Look at Wellwood, he was lazy and unmotivated in Toronto and they shipped him out. Im not saying Vancouver did a better job with him, but if any organization can turn an unmotivated player around, it is the Red Wings. This is a good signing. -
He could produce somewhere else. He has great offensive instincts, a great pass, great vision, and a mediocre shot. The only thing holding him back is his size and skating ability, which he is improving. He has a lot of potential.
-
Its not like Hudler is "what you see is what you get" He is still very young and learning how to play better in the league. Im looking forward to us locking him up for a few more years.
-
Hudler hopefully will be resigned and will replace a big name scorer on the 2nd line who we lost as a free agent. He is not a grinder, he is a goal scorer/playmaker. He belongs on the top 2 lines with good players around him.
-
Get 'er done Kenny!!
-
Guys, let them have the guy with the broken face!! On a serious note, I actually think Kopecky was a decent player and he will do well in Chicago if he can stay injury free. Let me just say he is better than someone like Eager or Ladd.
-
We still will have 2 very potent lines with Z - D - Homer (Cleary) Franzen - Filppula - Hudler And now we have cap space to sign a few hungry depth players.
-
Tatar was really impressive at the World Juniors. Im looking forward to seeing him develop. Will he likely be in Grand Rapids next season??

Wings Trade thier first round pick to Tampa
under_par_00 replied to Manny>Ozzie(by a long shot)'s topic in General
Smart move by the Wings. It obviously shows that they know who they want, and know that he will still be available at 32. And now we get a later round pick from Tampa. Its not like these late round picks ever turn into anything though
