McKeon: Geez, not ANOTHER Wings-Penguins Cup final...

Ahh but within the hate for teams lies the love for hockey....don't you see?
  2. I bet Datsyuk's foot has a factured bone somewhere in there. If it wasn't, then he should be able to play. This is not good.

Wings' Osgood to go for Game 5

Good to hear. Now what about Lids and Dats?? Arguably our two best players.

    Congrads to the Windsor Spitfires

Yea go Spits!! I switched over to watch the game today after the Wings were putting a beat down on the Hawks. Spits scored 3 goals on their first 3 shots! Congrats to the hometown boys! Hall is a fantastic player, he really has all the tools to be great. He just needs to learn to use his teammates better, he can be somewhat of a barb.

    Valtteri Filppula Appreciation Thread

I always knew Filppula had it in him. And I do recall me posting a while back that I thought a Franzen - Filppula - Hossa line would be dynamite.

    Datsyuk is a gametime decision

I hope it isnt a broken foot or anything that the Wings are keeping hush hush.

Would you trade a second rounder for?

I'd fight Chara if I had a visor on too. Wait......no.

Hilarious video of "Zetterberg" preparing for the Hawks

I didn't find these very funny at all.

    Hossa

Please noooooooooo!!! Anyway to those of you bitching about Hossa's defensive play, he is very active backchecking through the neutral zone. In the defensive zone, he is a winger, not a center like Dats and Z, and certainly not a defenseman like Stuart. His job is to stay near the boards and watch the opposing Dman, and help the team break out of the zone efficiently. I'd say he is doing that pretty well.

    TSN responds about TSN2

I have Roger's cable at my apartment during the school year. I wonder if I will get TSN2 now. Probably not, they will likely make me pay more for it. If it were totally up to me, I wouldn't be giving Roger's any of my money...their cable is garbage. Damn roomates.

    Your Stanley Cup Final

Canes play a very boring defensive style. Similar to Anaheim, but IMO they are not nearly as good (or goonish). The Pens like the fast paced open action game. We handled them last year, but they have a lot of youngsters. What worries me is the question of how much better did Malkin, Crosby, Staal, etc get???

    On the Chicago Boards

It works both ways though doesn't it? Sometimes I just shake my head at some of the stuff I read on here.

anyone have stuarts hit on salami?

Selanne passed the puck, then Stuart lined him up, and the puck came back. So I guess the hit was too late after Selanne had gotten rid of the puck??? It was very close. Very similar penalty call to Stuarts interference in game 6 I believe when he railed a guy behind the net.

    Darren Helm//Merged

Helm is great....amazing speed, and some skill to go along with it. What an important goal tonight he got for the Wings. However he seems to be getting a little too cute with the puck in the neutral zone and also when just inside the Ducks blue line. Sometimes he just needs to bury that puck deep in the zone. I saw a few times tonight where he turned it over and led to a Ducks rush. He will certainly learn this playing next season with the Wings.

So what did we think of the Game 7 lines?

Brilliant. I never saw this coming.

Good article of Fighting in the Playoffs

I bet he wont make that mistake again. His fighting list is now Rafalski, Hudler, Helm, and Lebda.

Babcock speaks to Datsyuk about lack of production

Dats has been shut down by Pronger, Neidermayer, and Marchant all series long. He has been playing pretty well, but once halfway inside the Ducks zone, he is just suffocated. I, just like everyone else on here, hope he can overcome this tonight.

    The Wings will win....

I'm sick of all the negativity around here. Nobody expected this to be an easy series, so why are a lot of people saying the Wings will lose game 7 before it is even played? Here is why the Wings will win game 7 tomorrow: The Wings are a better team. They have more depth, more skill, and a lot of playoff experience. They know what it takes to win. They have their backs against the wall now, and all of them will come out tomorrow with a fire under their ass. Plus they are at home. There have been a lot of bad breaks in this series. Look at last game alone, the Ducks first goal was pure luck. Their second goal was a nice deflection. How many times did I see the Wings miss the net with a deflection? Also there were a few questionable off-side calls at the end of the game that ruptured the flow of the Wings trying to tie it up. And they still almost did at the very end. Simply put the Ducks are getting better breaks than the Wings. You can argue that the Ducks are working harder, therefore deserving of these breaks. But don't give me that, both teams are working hard. All of the Wings loses in this series have been close games that involved a lot of bad breaks (bad calls/penalties/no goals). The Wings lost last night by 1 goal (lucky goal), lost game 2 by 1 goal (3 OT), and lost game 3 by 0 goals. The Wings have been proven to step it up big in pressure situations. Look what happened in game 4. If they lost that game, the series was nearly over, but they came out and kicked ass. Game 5 is the same story. No one wants to be down 3-2 (80-90% of game 5 winners advance, I forget the actual number), and the Wings kicked ass yet again. Look at the regular season, when the NHL leading Sharkies came to the Joe, the Wings stepped it up big time and kicked their ass. Another time that comes to mind is the Winter Classic/back to back games with Chicago. The Wings were not playing well before those 2 games, and at risk of losing the division lead to the Blackhawks. They stepped it up and kicked their asses twice. Game 7 is a pressure situation, and I fully expect the Wings to come out, guns blazing, and kick some Duck ass.

    The Wings will win....

I forgot to mention the bad ice in Anaheim. I remember 3 fanned passes in the first 10 minutes of the game last night. One in our own zone which lead to a Ducks shot on goal. The bad ice hurts a skilled team like the Wings a hell of a lot more than a team full of goons. What has it been like 90 degrees in Anaheim lately? Tough to keep good ice in that.

    Niedermayer cheap shot and brawl

That is a suspension if I ever saw one. After the final whistle, to throw a vicious elbow like that? If Dats was smart he would have hit the ice, instead of going and taking a few fists to the face.

Game 7 - Discuss it here

You're right, but the odds are Ozzy wont be letting in softies, and the bad breaks will not continue (at least not get worse). We only lost by 1 goal tonight. Lost by 1 goal in game 2 (3OT). And lost by 0 goals in game 3. I'd put my money on the Wings winning game 7. Hands down.
