Which referee called the "penalty" on Stuart last night?
under_par_00 replied to Bump's topic in General
So let me get this straight, it was Watson that called the no goal at the end, and called the penalty on Stuart (from center ice)?? Are you kidding me? -
It seems now for 2 games in a row that the Wings are starting the games flat. Even the same can be said for game 1. So 3 games in a row. Is this a result of the Ducks simply playing hard, giving it their all, and then eventually having their big guns tire out, and the Wings can start to play their game more effectively? Or are the Wings simply starting games not giving a s***? I have a hard time thinking that it is the latter, with all of the experience this team has, they know what it takes to win.

What exactly ended up happening at the end of the game? Did Pronger actually get anything good in on Datsyuk? And I know that Getzlaf had Zetterberg, anything happen there? How am I supposed to sleep now after what just happened. The whistle was blown AFTER the puck was in the net! Also Hiller NEVER had any sort of control of it, he was simply squatted over the moving puck. I am so wired up right now, I dont know what to do with myself.

You can pay for it at hockeystreams.com or there is a link up on atdhe.net for the game tonight for free.

Kopecky has to be the next to sit, he has not played well. Hopefully Babs wont leave Kopecky in because of his "size".

I can't believe this guy was the last pick in his draft year. How the hell could anyone pass over a 6'5" defenceman with skills. Unless he just took a very long time to develop in GR, he is already 25. Ericcson is going to be great on the Wings for many years to come.

I cant believe the Ducks are bitcing about goltender interference. Was that penalty called on Homer a valid penalty? And what the hell do you think happened at the end of the game when we had 6 Ducks rushing Ozzy and slamming him into the back of the net?

Little Hudler didnt know he was bleeding until he put his hand in the pool of blood. Then his reaction was "WTF" I think the hit was clean, just looked like a direct headshot because of how small Hudler is. This is what a clean hit looks like:
-
Look familiar? Was Phaneuf suspended? This was last season so the league might not have been as strict on headshots. Notice Hudler watching his pass! Although I think tonight it doesnt matter if he was watchin his pass or not, he wouldnt have seen it coming.

Has anyone else noticed Lidstrom not passing to Sammy on the PP? He knows that Sammy will likely mess it up. Once tonight Sammy was wide open and Lids was looking to make a play....held on a little longer and dished it off to someone else. It was quite an obvious avoidance. I also noticed this in a regular season game when Lidstrom found himself out there with Sammy. Babs needs to realize that Sammy doesnt work on the PP. He isnt that bad on the 2nd unit, but he has no place being on the 1st PP. With Rafalski out. Lidstrom needs to step up and tell Babs to get Sammy the hell off his PP.

Clearly a hit to the head, yes, but only because Hudler is so small and his head is so low. Maybe it was a butt end, its hard to tell. I dont know how Hudler was cut, but it was below his left eye right? The skin there is so soft that with a hit of that magnitude, it wouldn't take much for a cut.

I was at the Joe tonight, so I had a hard time telling if it was dirty or not. After coming home and looking at replays, this is my opinion: How often do we see Hudler get laid out like this? Once before from Phaneuf I believe, and take a look at the video. Hudler was watching his pass. This hit from Brown was different though, Hudler was completely blindsided by Brown, watching his pass or not, he was done. Hudler might be the smallest player in the NHL. Ive read he is 5'10 180lbs. He is much smaller than this. Brown is much bigger. It looks like a headshot for this reason. I think Brown will be suspended just as a result of the unfortunate circumstances for both parties involved. Now take a look at this screen cap, which CLEARLY shows that Brown's shoulder is making contact, this is not an elbow.

I'm headin to the Joe tonight....$40 playoff tickets are ballin.

Bruins are going to take the series. No doubt.
-
I think the Pens are playing better hockey right now. But Lundqvist is a better goalie than Fleury, so maybe the Caps will get some more offense.

Just got 2 tickets for Friday nights game!

Let this series go as long as possible. Sharks in 7!!!

WCQF GAME 4 GDT: Red Wings 6 at Blue Jackets 5
under_par_00 replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
This is the Ozzy we have known all season!! -
Is there a video of the hit that Vermette put on Datsyuk late in game 2? I missed it, I switched to watch a different game once the Wings had it locked up. How dirty was it?
-
Ya the Sharkies are playing pretty bad, which in turn makes the Ducks look good. I hope the Sharks can step it up now and make a series out of it.
-
This is pure speculation: Maybe Babs only wants Drapers faceoff skills.....afterall other areas of his game have been lacking this season. When the series goes back to Columbus we won't have last change, so Babs wants to be able to roll 4 lines with good faceoff guys.
-
I dont know anything about it. It seems odd to me too. I was watching WXYZ news a few nights ago before the playoffs start, and they showed Draper skating around in practice and then said he wouldnt play for games 1 or 2. They interviewed Draper and he seemed pissed off, and couldnt answer any of their questions. But he said he would be back for game 3. Seems really strange to me....almost like he was benched by Babcock. How can they be so accurate on his return time? They seem sure that he will be back for game 3 ready to go.

I think hypothetically Kopecky could be the next Franzen because he is big and could be strong like Franzen if he puts on muscle, whereas Hudler is shifty and of smaller build like Datsyuk, I dont exactly agree with the Filp/Zetterberg one though.

Fil is a good player, and only getting better....
