I also do not agree with this. Filppula has shown great potential, he has good speed, good skill with the puck, and is pretty solid defensively. He has improved his production this year, despite averaging about a minute less per game, and less PP time. He is also good on faceoffs. I wouldn't want to see him traded.

Anyone else see WXYZ news tonight? They were telling about Draper's injury, saying how the Wings were up to there secretive injury tactics again. They showed a clip of Draper practicing today and said he appeared fine out there. Then they talked to Babcock who said he won't be ready for games 1 or 2. Then they talked to Draper and he said that he can't talk about it, and it would be best if they didnt ask more questions. He seemed kind of ticked off to me. Me thinks that Draper is benched for some reason. How can they be so accurate on the timeline of Draper's return? He was practicing with the team, and he seemed ticked off about the whole deal. But I wouldn't think that a guy like Draper would be benched for the playoffs with everything that he brings to the team, even if he hasnt been on top of his game.

I do not want to see Franzen-Zetterberg-Sammy together. Please no! Franzen is a finisher....Sammy is a fini...err shooter, and Zetterberg is a mix of a finisher and playmaker. I'd much rather see Hudler with Zetterberg and Franzen.

A lot of people are calling for Filppula to be traded as well, which I think is outrageous. He is getting better and better, and has tons of skill!

I dont get why some people on these boards think that Filppula had a great playoff run last year. Dont get me wrong, I think he played well in the playoffs, but it isnt like he produced a hell of a lot more. He had 11 points (5g 6a) in 22 playoff games. He had 36 points (19g 17a) in 78 regular season games. That looks pretty consistent to me.

Ahaha Filppula is very underrated on these boards. He is great defensively, and I for one thinks he has a lot of potential. Learning from the likes of Datsyuk will only make his game better as time goes on. I would be sad to see him go. While Filppula is not a goal scorer, Franzen is and who can forget Hossa? Franzen is not a playmaker AT ALL. Filppula has decent speed, great puck control, and is a good passer. As he gets more experience, and more chances to play with better players, he will produce. I think he will become a great player, and he is already half-way there. I would like to see Filppula centering the second line with Hossa and Hudler on his wing next year.

Hudler is a great passer and has a very good shot. Franzen has great hands and a big body, but sometimes I question his work ethic. Trade Franzen at the deadline for some picks, to compensate for the RFA picks we wouldn't be getting after signing Hudler. Could we sign Hudler and Hossa?

I think you hit the nail on the head with that last paragraph. Filppula seems to me to be the best fit with Hossa. Fil is always passing (a good passer at that), and Hossa is always shooting. It is a perfect combination. Let Dats and Z do their thing on the first line.

Cant they each be much more aggressive on the draws, knowing that the other one is there if they get kicked out? That is a pro to them together. And a con would be that since they are both very good on the draws, playing them on the same line doesnt make the most of that.
