Wisniewski would be the best addition to this team I think. Let Salei walk, Ericsson/Kindl can fight for the 6th spot, and Smith spends one more year in GR. Or, less likely, Bieksa.
-
THIS. However, the Wings are done. I was at the game tonight, and they played a good game, and it still wasn't enough. I thought that Kronner hit on Heatley could be the series turning point, but unfortunately it turned back in a hurry. These Sharks are good/lucky.

WCSF Game 3 GDT: Sharks 4 at Red Wings 3 (OT)
under_par_00 replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
We will see a different Wings team tonight, being down 0-2 and coming home. How that translates into game 4, 5, and more, we will see. Hopefully they beat the Sharks so badly tonight, that they are demoralized, and Wings can rally for the series! -
I think that his ankle is really slowing him down. Those are tough injuries to play through. Hopefully he will step up in game 3, he is our key threat who takes the focus off D and Z. Get well soon Mule.

I look forward to seeing Modano bring his speed to the table in game 3. Babs needs to give him a chance with Datsyuk or Zetterberg, while Franzen plays with the other.
-
Modano brings speed to the lineup, he is noticeably fast out there. He also has a good shot that he often takes from the perimeter. To me, the Wings have lacked speed and puck control. I think it is time that he gets a chance to make an impact. Babcock needs to tell him this is his time. Give him a few shifts with Datsyuk and see what happens. At the very least, it should give the Wings more momentum for the 2nd line to come out.

One of the things that worries me most, is how ineffective Helm has been. Aside from his breakaway today, he has been nearly invisible, his hitting is not effective as he seems much smaller and weaker compared to these Sharks. Oh, and Douglas Murray is a beast. We have no one who can handle him, Franzen, Todd, Cleary are all getting owned.

Filp is an ideal 3rd line centre for this team. At $3 mil, he might be overpaid for that position, but he is good on faceoffs, great defensively, good speed, and somewhat offensively capable. He is not good enough to centre a dominant 2nd line, but he is perfect for a 3rd line. The key to this is having 2 great top 2 centres, and the Wings just happen to have that in Dats and Z. Time to split them up, even Z at 70% is much better centering the 2nd line than Filp. This allows the Wings two really good scoring lines, and a capable 3rd line. Moral of the story, get Filp off the 2nd line for now, and forget about his $3-mil paycheck.

What happened to the Cleary - Datsyuk - Hudler line? Did that work to0 well to try it out in this game? Split Z and D up to at least get 2 scoring lines. Z can centre his own line, while not 100%, he is still one of our most effective players. And why do the Wings SUCK in the 2nd period of game 1 and now game 2?

The guy has a multiyear 7-mil contract and a Ferrari in each continent. What more could he want? He didn't even know what the Stanley Cup was before he came over the pond.
-
Ah penalty was changed now to unsportsmanlike conduct. I thought it was a little early for Torts to lose it.
-
What was that penalty on NYR at 5:59 of the 2nd period? Prospal in the box for coach/manager on ice-bench minor. I'm not watching the game, did Torts blow a fuse?
-
Guys, that one was all on Howard. He cheated way to much on Doan skating towards the middle.
-
I expect the Kings to roll over and die in this series now.

Where is this video?

Any word if Tatar will join the Slovak National Team for the World Championships? I heard he is being considered, but dunno how it works since he is a Black Ace.
-
Good to hear Z is skating and about 2 weeks away. Hopefully the Wings can continue to run over the Coyotes without him.
-
I'd be all over this if I didn't have a final exam tomorrow at noon

Their defense is surprisingly deep with Morris, Yandle, Klesla, Rozsival, Jovinovski, and Aucoin, but Dats can dangle every one of 'em.

Zetterberg says he will not play tomorrow
under_par_00 replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
There's only so many things it can be when his leg bends like that. Then it is reported he is being carted around the Joe, and wearing a brace which is used for support, which means there is ligament damage. The severity of the injury is listed as 'day-to-day' which it remains to be seen how long that means. -
Zetterberg says he will not play tomorrow

Not at this time of the year he doesn't require surgery. Look at Kronner's knee injury from last year, took him the whole rest of the year to get back, and he still wasn't 100%. I think his injury happened sometime January, and he had surgery in the summer. If Z does come back at any time, he won't be 100% and needs to avoid further injury. I know this is a Debbie Downer rant, but I speak the truth! -
Zetterberg says he will not play tomorrow

Agreed. When he does come back, he will be wearing a brace the entire time. I wouldn't be surprised if this is a serious injury needing offseason surgery. He will try to force it for later rounds, but right now the dude can't even walk. -
Yes, but do we need him 100% against the Sharks, Canucks, Preds, etc the list goes on??
-
He should be out the entire first round unless the Wings go down in the series. This is definitely an ACL/MCL tear/sprain the way his knee bent. When he does come back, he will be playing injured for the rest of the playoffs. This is not a good injury to force yourself to play with, you are risking further damage. Example: Milan Michalek and Andrei Markov.

This is the most appropriate thread I could find, as I didnt feel that this needs a new thread. In the Calgary v Vanvouver game tonight, Kesler just took a real awkward fall, looks like his ankle just buckled and he went straight to the room. This could be a huge loss for the Nucks, similar to Zetterberg going down.
