I know a lot of people are bummed out by this... I hope you'll all be pleasantly surprised by Bertuzzi. I'll feel a lot better inking Bert than I do about Williams. At least he's got the same offensive upside, plus grit. Who knows, the guy could end up working out really well. All things considered, the off-season could have been much worse. Pros: Locking up Z and Mule, Eaves and possibly Bert & Losing Hossa so that we can win in the finals. Cons: Locking up Williams and losing Huds for two years. Who Cares: Losing "Shin Guard" Samuelsson.

Man, I just want something to happen either way. I hate the waiting part. The thing I noticed with Bertuzzi when he was here before is that he always seemed to be just shy of doing something productive. He just didn't seem to be getting the bounces. I think if a few went his way, he could muster up some more confidence and put up a good season.

I dunno... I think people could confuse "Zesus" as being the lovechild of Jesus and Zeus. To be fair, if it weren't a Red Wings jersey people could confuse Jesusberg as Forsberg... or even the great Aki Berg.

I love Leino's attitude. I really hope he improves his foot speed and works himself into our Top 6 forwards. The guy earned his spot, spent most of the year in the AHL (when he had the skill to be with the Wings) and is keen on improving his weaknesses. I'm a sucker for nationality pairings (I don't know why) but I really hope that he and Flip can develop some chemistry. As far as Grigorenko goes, I was just as frustrated as anyone else when he came to camp so out of shape, but for what he went through... I just think it's hard to bash a guy who almost died, just because he didn't pan out the way that people wanted him to. I'm upset that we lost a high quality player, but I'm happy the guy lived through it all. Just think of how much bad luck the Red Wings have had with off-ice incidents. Fischer and Konstantinov, Grigs and even to a lesser extent McCarty with his addictions. Imagine if Fischer and Vlad went on to continue playing. I still re-live Vlad's hot on Claude and Fisch's hit on one of the Sedin's Both of those were beauties.

Nooooo, Leino is definitely in the game. I have him on my 2nd line. Check the SM-Liiga on either Jokerit or HFK I believe, but he's on one of the two. My NHL 09 lines are: Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Cleary Leino-Filppula-Franzen Holmstrom-Helm-Williams Maltby-Draper-Eaves Oulahen Lidstrom-Rafalski Kronwall-Stuart Lilja-Ericsson Meech Osoogd Howard I ended up trading Lebda for Byron Bitz from Boston. He's only like 68 overall in the game, but he'll end up being a good checking line player in the game.

To be fair, Lebda doesn't play like a guy worth 1.250 million. Lilja showed last season that's he's a solid defensive presence if he's not making poor turnovers. He's the kind of guy who jars the puck loose so well, and not many people notice that style of play because it's not as flashy. I'd rather see the Twin Towers as the 3rd defensive pairing.

Haha, well those would be my answers as well, but I just don't know if they'll be all that consistent. Flip could have issues with confidence in a bigger role. Homer could fall back into last year's slump. Let's call a spade a spade... he was useless. Leino looked great in his small number of games, but he was also streaky in the AHL and had injury issues. I'm aware how boring it is. Hell, I'm bored too. I just don't think that things should get so nasty. I feel like half of the fans here are Ducks fans or something, haha.

Why does everything have to escalate so quickly? Can't we all just get along? Anywhoooo... I'd like Prospal or Bert for the 2nd line. I could live with just picking up a grinder for the 4th, allowing Eaves to play on the 3rd. I want either of these line-ups: Z-Dats-Cleary Mule-Flip-Prospal/Bertuzzi Leino-Helm-Holmstrom Maltby-Draper-Eaves Oulahen OR Z-Dats-Cleary Mule-Flip-Leino Homer-Helm-Eaves Maltby-Draper-Grier/Betts/Bell Oulahen The more I think of it, I believe that Betts could be a huge help... and Eaves as well. Both could work the PK and are solid defensively. Grier is just a personal pick of my own (on pace for 190ish hits last season) and Bell seems like the kind of project player the Wings would take on. Alternatively, there are several question marks regarding our offense. Can Flip be a legit #2 center? Can Homer play in the top 6? Can Leino? Adding Bertuzzi would be the cheaper option, I think. He could add 20 goals or so and has an edge. Adding Prospal would help Filppula a lot, I think. He's a decent playmaker and could aid in feeding the Mule.

I remember Rafalski slamming someone to the ice, but it wasn't a legit fight because I've looked all over for it. I 100% know it happened, I just can't recall it properly. It's a bummer too, because I thought it was awesome and for two seconds it made me forget about his defensive lapses.

If only we picked up Chris Simon from the KHL. I wouldn't put it past him to pull off a Tombstone Piledriver. PS: I ended up checking out the PK situations and who was on the ice. I got to about December and then realized it was stupid and taking too long. Most of the goals then were given up when Zetterberg was on the ice (a lot were 5-on-3 mind you) and I only saw one that Maltby had been on the ice for. Still... "he's lazy and he sucks"
