    Hudler re-signed?

I think people are missing the positive spin on this. The possible upside is that our cap situation will look better in two years, Hudler will be a better player and we'll have him for under 3 million dollars. Of course it could be the complete opposite, but let's not be negative on LGW... oh... wait...

Sportsnet: Hudler awarded 2 year deal 5m total; Still KHL bound

Man, I wasn't going to gloat at all, but you were wrong. We pretty much butted heads over this back and forth until I said, "screw it until the arbitration hearing happens". It happened, the Wings lost Hudler. You went over and over how if they accepted the award, he could not go to the KHL. Your big argument was that Medvedev was NOT going to register Hudler's contract, so he was going to remain in the NHL. The KHL did register it. You were wrong.

No, they just have to help Hank realize his true potential: scoring 40 goals a season, 90 points and becoming a faith healer. They can change the name on the back of the jersey to Jesusberg. He can already walk... err, skate on water

NHL'S Top 10 most likely breakout players

Hell, I'll be happy if Filppula turns into the next "Mikko Koivu" let alone Tikkanen or Kurri. I'm not expecting the world out of Flip, but I do think those flashes of brilliance are more potential than they are luck. I think he's progressively gotten smarter with what he does with the puck after he's carried it.

As much as I was like, "Hudler's gone, deal with it" I'm going to miss the creepy little guy. He's a damn good player to be sure. The team is going to have to fill that void somehow, and I think more than anything it's going to have to be with defensive play. Flip will need to step up some, Leino will need to step up big time, and we're going to have to have minimal injuries.

Filppula is going to get 50+ points this season... that's realistic. Plus, I'm psychic. -Mind Freak

Pyatt and Malhotra NOT on Wings shopping list

Good, and after he hits me he can get on the ice and do his job. What was the point of saying Probert could knock me out when he could beat the s*** out of 90% of the people who post on here?

    Sykora Possibly Coming To Detroit?

All things considered, getting Prospal for like 1.5 million, picking up Grier for like 700K and moving Lebda/Meech or having Lilja on LTIR would be my ideal situation. I can dream, can't I?

I think we could pay Bob Probert in lines of cocaine, so long as he could do them off Karen Newman. Just saying.

I'm just waiting for the video where someone tries to put a hat on Hudler's head and he flips out, going straight for their ankles.

    Sykora Possibly Coming To Detroit?

Detroit is apparently going after every free agent on the market. As long as we get a grinder (Grier) I could care less who else we pick up.
  13. Kontinental Hockey League Official Statement Considering the facts that: - there is no arrangement or any agreements between Kontinental Hockey League and National Hockey League on restricted free agents transfers; - NHL refuse to cancel the registration of a contract between Florida Panthers and Yevgeny Dadonov (contractual and sporting rights on this player belong to KHL club Traktor Chelyabinsk); - Jiri Hudler has no valid contract with any National Hockey League club; - Detroit Red Wings have no permission from NHL to negotiate with Dynamo Moscow on Jiri Hudler transfer rights; - Vancouver Canucks intend to sign a deal with Sergei Shirokov (contractual and sporting rights on this player belong to KHL club CSKA); KHL has to take the following decisions: - to register Jiri Hudler contract with Dynamo Moscow on July 30, 2009 regardless of the results of arbitration hearing on his case in National Hockey League and to provide player with the right to choose the league he wants to play in. - to affirm the KHL readiness to start at any time and in any form negotiations with the NHL mediated by IIHF on the restricted free agents status and other issues of the General Agreement on players transfers between KHL and NHL. KHL decides to register Hudler's contract.

I completely get where you're coming from. I guess my main point is I'm not beign ignorant about it. Like I said, if there is an agreement between leagues, then it needs to benefit each league equally. Right now the KHL hasn't really taken anyone of status, but they definitely could. The NHL has more to offer than the KHL (talent wise) obviously, but at the same time they could have a gem or two of their own. I've got mixed emotions about it right now, but ultimately I think I'd like to see an agreement regarding RFA's. UFA's are going to do what they want. I also wouldn't mind if there was a loaning program between the leagues, kind of like what almost happened with Khabibulin last season. Detroit is essentially loaning out Hudler anyway. The arbitration is going to ensure they retain his rights, so if/when he comes back, he's a Wing, or his rights have been moved for someone. Who even knows what the cap will look like in 2 years.

KHL decides to register Hudler's contract.

No, actually. I figured that you would pick up on my sarcasm, but I guess not. I'm aware of the NHL's poaching of other leagues, and sure it's a *****, but I like the NHL. I could give a s*** about the KHL, SEL, FNL, etc. They're all valid leagues, and they all have a right to have players, but I'm a fan of the Detroit Red Wings. I'm not a fan of Moscow Dynamo, Frolunda or Jokerit. I want to see the highest quality product I can in the NHL, and if that means getting the best players in the world, then so be it. Am I selfish? Yes. Am I ignorant? Not at all. I'm fully aware of my hypocrisy, and I'm fine with it. Edit: For the record, if there is an agreement in place it should go both ways. I'm not calling for the KHL to stop poaching, while the NHL can. At this point no big name "stars" have been taken from the NHL, so I'm fine with it.

KHL decides to register Hudler's contract.

Sure, but no one here really gives a crap about the KHL. As hypocritcal as it is, people look at them poaching an NHL'er as bad, and the NHL pulling a player out of there as "saving them". Nearest most people here can figure, they play hockey outdoors and are constantly held at gunpoint if they don't pan out as PPG players.

Jason Williams Offered 1 Year Contract

At 2.5 the answer is "Do Not Want" but if it's some real low-ball price, sure. The thing is, the guy doesn't sound like he even wants to go to Detroit. So even at a low price, do we really want a guy who lacks motivation? He's complaining about how the Wings gave up on him, etc. Plus, I hate seeing a right-handed forward man the blue line. We just got rid of Samuelsson. Plus, Mike Babcock, use a defenseman to play defense during the PP. Please.

KHL decides to register Hudler's contract.

Regardless of what Hudler did, there's still only a "gentlemen's agreement" in place. The KHL was calling for the IIHF to actually come to some kind of formal rule or practice for RFA's. I don't care as much right now, because I'm not a huge Hudler fan, but if it were someone I really liked I'd be bummed. I hope they actually figure out some kind of agreement before it happens again.

    Hudler's Arbitration Hearing Today

Just because someone says something doesn't mean it's true. Don't even bother man. I showed him the exact same stuff. The fact that the information was released well after Medvedev's comments, etc. This is why I've been quiet about the issue, waiting for tomorrow when the decision is made. The above comment was more for my own personal amusement than anything else.

Well, I could be wrong, but I believe diversity is an old, old wooden ship that was used during the Civil War era.

    Mats Sundin?

Honestly... I hate Eklund. I don't check his stupid site unless someone posts something on here, usually. How much cap space are we supposed to have if we're apparently pursuing Mats Sundin, Jason Williams and Rob Niedermayer? What a scam artist.
