AHH, I'M SO EXCITED! LOOOOOUD NOISES!
-
I don't often wish bad things upon other people... but I seriously hope MAF folds up like a cheap suit. I want the game to go as smoothly as possible. After the game, I don't want to have to say, "I'm 23 years old... and I had a heart attack".
-
Seriously, the calls weren't as lopsided as people are making them out to be. The two things that kind of ticked me off were the missed too many men (they always call that) and the fact that interference went both ways all game until the Ericsson call. It's good to see that the Wings dominated the 2nd though... it shows that they can just play their game too. I look forward to game 4.

Signing Hossa is pretty much impossible unless he takes a SIGNIFICANT discount. There's also no gurantee that guys like Abdelkader and Leino can fill in for Samuelsson and Hudler. Draper's 1.6 million CANNOT come off the cap because he signed it after turning 35, so people need to stop suggesting it. I'm a little confused about Abdelkader's contract though. Some sites say 850K and others say 660K... Regardless, I don't see a way for this to happen.

I call him NOS... but NOHS works too... Nightmare On Helm Street.

I have no problem giving credit where credit is due. IF the Pens show that they came prepared and play a hard-fought series, I'll admit they beat the Wings no problem. My issue is, not even the captain of your favorite team can admit defeat. Whenever Crosby's asked about losing a game afterward he generally attributes it to, "not getting the bounces" or "the team not having their best game". After Zetterberg killed that 5 on 3 last season I would have expected, "that was an impressive kill" or something... but nothing. It's hard to be modest when your team loses to a guy who can't do it himself.

What does Max Talbot have in common with Brian Campbell?

It's fun when the Pens 4th line gets scored on... good times. -
I've had this feeling for the during of this post-season, actually. Ever since Ozzie showed he could play in the early parts, I've felt like the Wings can't lose four games out of seven. Maybe part of it has been, they won a cup last year, no need to be greedy. I'd be fine if the Wings didn't win. But then the series against Anaheim reminded me why I dislike them, and the fans of the Penguins reminded me why I don't like Pittsburgh. So really, while I'm not a big fan of wanting other teams to lose, I just want Detroit to win to shut everyone up. I guess I want other teams to lose, because they want us to lose so bad... sounds hypocritical, eh?

I think they could stand to throw in a bit more current music at times, but come on now. You can't knock Bon Jovi or Journey (well you can, but you would be wrong to). I like to pay more attention to winning... cause we do that. They could play opera music for all I care, so long as we win.

I think it's pretty hard to be the type of goaltender that Osgood is. The guy isn't the type of goalie who can get shelled and stand on his head, but he IS the type of goalie who can maintain focus when facing a low number of shots. He's an ideal goalie for the style of play the Wings utilize. The shots on goal this season were higher than usual, and I think most fans would agree that the defense was lacking at times. Bringing in a goaltender who needs to face tons of shots to stay "sharp" doesn't work. It hasn't worked in the past (Joseph, as a prime example). Osgood will likely never get respect from other fans because he's not a conventional top end goalie, but I personally believe that the majority of goaltenders in the NHL don't have the mental fortitude that Ozzie does. They'd crack only facing 20 shots everyday, they'd crack for being bashed and labelled as the "weak link" all the time and they'd crack with the pressure to win that the Red Wings brass expects out of their players. There's a reason Wings fans love Ozzie and chant his name when he saves a puck, and it's because he's our type of goalie. He's been accused of being cocky, but he's just a winner and he knows it. Chris Osgood wakes up in the morning and pisses excellence. That is all.

Well, personally... I've had friends tell me they find the Wings boring because they dominate so much. It's fun to watch your own team dominate. In the games where you don't care who wins, trading back and forth chances is much more exciting. Also, glad to see the solid ratings.

Nah, that's just what people sound like when they're born in Windsor, haha. It is nice to not hear about being "gutless" or hearing the word "obstruction" twenty times, though. I think the Hawks will come out with a better effort in the next game.

GDT 2009 WCSF GAME 7: Ducks 3 at Red Wings 4

As much as people have ragged on Datsyuk, he showed up huge tonight. Twice on the PK and then on the Samuelsson goal. I hope he can put up more points against the Hawks. He's been great against Chicago.- 1,913 replies

Detroit fought so hard... I am proud to be a Wings fan. The whole series was an uphill battle. It just shows how good this team is after so many teams winning the cup and fading the next year.- 1,913 replies

The misconception that Datsyuk and Zetterberg are equal
Peleshob replied to JeffBridges's topic in General
All I know if that if Z-D-H start to click... and the newly formed "secondary scoring" continue to click... everyone shall perish. It'll be like opening Pandora's Box. None of us will be able to watch because it will be too great and powerful for our eyes. In terms of who's better, I think it's fair to say that Zetterberg spent a lot of his season playing against other team's top lines. I don't think there difference is as great as some people think. -
Zetterberg told him that he could borrow Emma for a weekend
-
*covers Phil Kessel's eyes* In all seriousness though, the prospect of having a grind line with Helm and Abdelkader on it in the future is pretty exciting.
-
I don't think Crosby is as bad as the other two, but I've noticed Malkin, Ovechkin and that other Russian guy Joe Thorntonov float a lot.
-
I noticed that too... ouch, but it's true.
-
For all the complaining the Pens fans do about refs being bias, that was ridiculous. A possible goalie interference, tripping and interence call missed by refs, and a tripping call against the Caps that results in the OT winning goal... What is it with these playoffs and retarded reffing? Jesus. Edit: I do know the Caps were crap defensively there, but the non-calls were brutal.
-
All I can say is... please... please... destroy. For all their complaints... the mindless whining. Be the skilled team you can be. And. Destroy.
-
I would agree with this... except that the playoff beard also willed Sergei Fedorov to channel the 1990's version of himself. Therefore, the only logical conclusion is that "the beard is back".
-
I'm fully convinced that my terrible looking playoff beard has willed this. I wanted a Detroit sweep, it happened. I wanted Washington to win... it happened. I saw the Canes down 3-2, and I wanted Crosby vs. Ovechkin... and my beard willed Tim Gleason to keep that puck in the zone. It's true.

I don't like it to be honest. I think it's clever and all, but maybe just share it with Red Wings fans. San Jose just lost after having an amazing season. When the Oilers beat the Wings nothing ticked me off more than the fans of OTHER teams chirping me. Just my two cents.
