Who's Ready For Tons of Outdoor Hockey? (Winter Festival and Class

So they are doing 2 alumni games? How is that being broken down? -
I kind of thought it had to happen in the off-season - no source to quote on it though.

CBC partners with Rogers in landmark NHL rights deal.

I blame Jay and Dan for leaving TSN... seems to be the go to point for most Canadiens when it comes to decreased ratings. A decision like this could cripple TSN as a viable network. What is their fallback? KHL coverage, more Junior coverage? More fricken Curling? They still have the World Championships and Juniors (and Olympics of course being part of Bell) but their coverage and investment in Hockey panel shows becomes much less appealing without and hockey to compliment it. -
Of 3 years ago? how about last season! I'm happy to have him here, he hasn't stood out as screwing up so must mean he is doing a good job

Perhaps this is a problem with American Sports then and something I can't wrap my head around. In Australian Professional sports (and other leagues around the world i'm sure) if someone goes out drinking and is seen to be misbehaving they are promptly suspended or fired for doing so because it makes the league look bad. Domestic Violence is an absolute no-go, whether it proves to be factual or not. They counsel the player they make sure they are doing OK they look after the family who is also impacted and they suspend them till they get their life in order. Often time sits the player themselves that is embarassed and volunteers to step down. Guilty or not, it's a distraction for the team which is where my opinion on suspension comes form. You can suspend someone and still pay them. To insult me for having an opinion on this is equally disgusting though I do apologize to any of you who have dealt with this in there own personal life's as that is horrendous. Though I imagine you are not professional athletes that kids look up to... this is my issue with the situation and the league/club is seemingly turning a blind eye to it which bothers me.

Conviction or not, it's being dragged through the media and gives the NHL a bad reputation - The Avs should suspend him base don that alone, shouldn't require the NHL to step in. If he does wind up convicted (even if only a misdemeanour) and they did nothing then as an organisation the Avs inadvertently condoning his actions. Quite simply, suspend him for bringing the game into disrepute.

Smith on the PP is an interesting idea, he is more inclined to pinch in and keep the play going. Kindl seems to give up more SH chances due to poor shot choices that simply hit bodies and lead to breakaways. Dekeyser being missing is a tough pill to swallow, but Smith has been doing well since he came back, deserves a shot at least.

Beating them would be sufficient seeing as they are on top of our division - they are not a useless team.
-
Which is obviously why Mackinnon and Drouin were drafted in the top 3 last year right?
-
I'd probably call it a spinebuster myself. I think Prison would be an overreaction, fine or community service if anything or at absolute worse a suspended 9 month sentence. It is Canada we are talking about where punishments are generally not over reactions.

Oh don't worry they will be, when they are in their 40's and we pay the 4 mill a piece each to play on the 4th line.

in the end it was probably for a shirt or a footlong subway sub or something - not worth it. The prizes for those contests are not worth an assault charge.

Disclosure, I'm a Mooseheads fan living in Halifax. That being said I saw this kid play against the moose after hearing the hype a couple of weeks back. To be honest he didn't stand out on the ice unlike someone like Drouin who just tears it up with speed and skill. He is getting points but I'm not sure what sort of a player he is from what I saw, He got a couple of penalties and one assist in that game in a 4-2 loss for Val-D'or. If anything he is helping that really bad team move into a decent playoff position in the early going. (almost every team in the league qualifies for playoffs in the Q btw only 2 teams fail to make playoffs of the 18, so even if you suck you generally play playoffs) Drouin and Mackinnon also played for Team Canada in the Juniors last season, so be interesting to see if Mantha makes that team. He did score 89 points last year though which was impressive and 12 in 9 playoff games.

meaning make him actually do something in the playoffs and win a cup?
-
Are they not allowed to include money in trades anymore? I didn't think that was true - I just thought it was because the salary cap meant teams didn't need the money.

http://www.tsn.ca/blogs/darren_dreger/?id=434695 Dreger is saying that TooToo is likely to be moved for cap space for what it's worth.

http://redwings.nhl.com/club/blog.htm?id=404&navid=DL|DET|home Looks like Samuelsson might be a scratch tonight - interesting. EDIT: I guess this was mentioned earlier, but i thought more people would be happy that Sammy is scratched

Yeah I got a bit of a chuckle out of that. I'm sure if we let in as many goals as we did against phoenix (and yes the D is not at full strength tonight) Gustavsson might get another shot. Or maybe the strategy should be for Jimmy to get "injured" 2 minutes before game time, worked last time.

Mantha is crushing the Q, 4 goals and an assist tonight

I went to the mooseheads game friday night not just to see Drouin back and enjoy him while he is here, but to check out this kid given all the wraps. I think he wound up with 1 assist and 2 penalties on the night. But yes his plus/minus is simply because he plays for a crap team, Val-D'or are garbage, and while the moose are still playing reasonably well they aren't the same team without Mackinnon, Frk, Abeltshauser and MacAuley. He certainly wasn't setting the world on fire when he was on the ice, he didn't stand out. -
Not to mention that Columbus also plays Dallas so definately not a way in for Phoenix. That game I will be watching with a lot of interest, I think we probably need Dallas to win that but for the love of god no 3 point game! I still think we have to win the 3 remaining games to make the playoffs which is a tough ask the way we have been playing (this game aside) but I still hold out hope!

Yeah, the Mooseheads are my local team - loving the fact that he is finding some form. He was pretty ordinary at the start of the season. They ar eplaying again now still 0-0 at this early stage but hopefully they rack up another Cricket Score on them again tonight!

EDIT: Closer game tonight only a 2-1 win - no points for Frk.

-
Good win - shame it wasn't Jimmy's 3rd Shut out in a row.
-
Alright, people pissing on the wings again here. They won the bloody game. That's all that matters. 1 minute from a shutout just stop whining already.
-
Give me a break! they pulled their goalie, it was effectively a PP situation and Howard gave up a rebound. Let it go!

Franzen screwed up but i blame Smith more for being lazy in getting it into the zone about 20 seconds earlier.
