http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=427859 Carcillo (as noted above) for a CONDITIONAL DRAFT PICK. Basically they got him for a bag of pucks. Surprising, considering how much he brings to a team.
-
Maybe send the glut of "spare forwards" to Buffalo in exchange? I'm down.
-
If the Lions were to ever win anything, you would see how huge football is here. Even with them sucking, they are still very very popular.
-
Please no on Cleary....I get all happy when I read that quote from Kenny, but I just know something is going to happen and they trade 3 forwards to allow him to come back....i just know it. Someone sign him already!!
-
I have to laugh at how bad everyone wanted this guy re-signed, and when he held out, everyone got on Holland to get it done, and now that he is a Devil, everyone is like, yeah, so, big deal, he's not that good anyway. If he's really not that good, then why did we want to re-sign him anyway?
-
Someone mentioned the Kozlov / Hasek trade today, and I got to wondering about Wings players who were traded who went on to have continued or more success. I can't think of many outside of Adam Graves. People are very cautious about trading our young talent for fear they will blow up somewhere else, but who's done it?
-
I think Dan Cleary should sign there for 4 million a year and become team captain, having so much "veteran leadship" and all.
-
It's not on YouTube, that was in the days of VHS. I would have to find the box that contains all the old VHS and upload it. Which may happen.
-
On a side note, I don't think I've ever seen Filppula do that.
-
I actually made a compilation video of Primeau falling down over and over and over and over, it was pretty long.
-
I heard a rumor Forsberg was going to try and return for a return to the NHL and the Olympics.
-
I'm not a huge Niedermeyer fan but I acknowledge he was a really good player and won Cups. Cheli and Shanny were no brainers in my opinion. Lindros and Roenick would have gotten in if there weren;t so many other stronger candidates, and I don't think either deserves it, even though I like JR.
-
One of my thoughts on this topic are that we value these young players so much that to trade them for established talent...NOOOO! But if you look back in the storied history of the Red Wings, it's usually worked out in our favor.
-
How can there still be talk of re--signing Cleary when we have a multi player logjam as it is? Just call it quits.
-
I want a guy who can play a regular shift every night, skate, pass, score AND will get rough occasionally. Not a guy who sits in the press box in the playoffs because he can't play hockey and is a liability on the ice.
-
Besides the really old time legends...not really any of the players turned into all stars or fundamental building blocks for other franchises, though. Knuble or Sillenger or Drake were pieces, not really franchise guys.
-
Yeah, I should have remembered that one...anyone in the last 30 years? Knuble and Ward are really the only of this group I would say who got BETTER, but they really had nowhere to go but up...Primeau was on the decline anyway.
-
Let's stay on topic here, not re-signing Cleary and hoping some other team devilishly swoops in and steals him away from us! How DARE you steal our great player!! (shaking fist, and then when they leave, high fiving everyone in sight...)
-
I'm glad he's gone from Penguins...I will never have to see him again, as I don't watch the Minnesota games much since I am asleep by the middle of the first period.

Dreger: Filppula looking for $5.5m/season over at least 7 years
AtomicPunk replied to a topic in General
I think Hudler 2.0 is more appropriate...Lapointe had size and toughness. -
Some of those games he SHOULD have been scratched. Esp. this year's playoffs after getting smashed into the boards behind the net. Tell me he was the best option skating around out there with THAT. But no, he is durable. Effective? That's another argument. Good puck handler? Strong Skater? Sniper? Good defensively? Not really....but he IS durable. Dammit.

Wild sign Keith Ballard, buyout from Vancouver, 2 years, 1.5 per.
-
For anyone wondering if he would be a good fit, and why they bought him out, this might shed a little light... http://www.tsn.ca/toronto/blogs/jonas_siegel/?id=426967

(it was a joke about him shooting the puck at another player, nothing more...)
-
I like the way you think, sir.
