Hey after sucking completely for 40 odd years, I guess the right combo of lots of really high draft picks and former Red Wing management would point toward a Stanley Cup. It's too bad the Conn Smythe trophy winner looks like he is currently undergoing chemo treatments. Have a good summer.

Bob McKenzie on Twitter is reporting Philly has traded for Mark Streit - NYI. Gave up a 4th round pick in 2014. Likely to sign 2 year deal for 5 mil/per. Over 35 so it all counts. He suggests compliance buyouts in the works for Bryzgalov and Briere. I would post a link but I dont have the capability at this moment. I know I might be in the minority, but I'd love to see our hometown team get in on some early UFA action. Before the prices go sky high.

Being good or great on the Griffins does not mean these players will be great NHL'ers. Let's see how many, IF any, of these guys can make the jump to keep up with the best players in the world.

I'm done with Filppula. He's 29, no longer a "prospect" and on the downside of his most productive years. His playoff was horrible, he was a shadow. Time for an upgrade. Don't throw stats at me because I've just lost all faith or interest in him as a Red Wing. See ya.

Sad thing is, we had this team down 3-1 and couldn't finish the job. As gutsy and gritty of a performance as we put on, they were ripe for the taking and we didn't take them. I could call out Franzen, Filppula, Cleary (even though he has points, NOT a great playoff) Smith, etc. but what's the point. I hope the team shifts gears and gets some younger players to replace them with grit and heart and willingness to do what you have to do to win those little battles especially in playoff games. I know the Red Wings all too well and they will more than likely re-sign players they shouldn't re-sign out of loyalty or "they know the Red Wing system", which is almost as bad as the Canadiens signing players because they are French Canadian. No kudos to the Hawks. We shoulda beat em. One bounce or deflection our way and we wouldn't be hearing that damn song. They got lucky.

This game was just maddening. Wings get a break and get up 2-1 and then just fall apart. Wingers on both top lines just floating. Make something happen. Filppula and Cleary are stones around the neck of Zetterberg. Franzen the "playoff performer" is absent while Cleary just turns it over time after time and it's going the other way. Smith deserves a post of his own with how bad he sucked. For everyone who crowed after the game where he scored the winner, THIS is why people rip him so much. Babcock has got to pull something out of his hat to make them play like they should in Game 7. There is no way he can keep the status quo and still win, in my mind. The Toews / Kane / Sharp line is just too powerful and he has made NO adjustment, not to mention the Hossa line, which is causing damage.

I don't know what to say but I have to start to believe in this team. Working hard, defense strong, as much as I wanna shake Filppula like a rag doll this team is getting it done. LGW!

Great game by Howard, by the way. He was the Man today and needs to play more like this. The team played MUCH better in front of him, blocked a lot more shots, and of course, shot and scored more. Much better game by the Winged Wheelers. I'm looking forward to Monday!

I heard one Lets Go Hawks. The rest were all Detroit Sucks, and i dont remember ANY in the third period. Nice fans. I guess empty seats can't cheer, though.
