Admission - last year was the first year I did not go to Joe Louis to see a game since 1983. (Steve Yzerman's first game) Reason - I did not feel the Wings organization was doing their best to put a the best possible team on the ice. Early indications are that I may not be going to the Joe this year either.

I'm watching NHL Network and just now catching the scroll and just shaking my head...Canadiens sign Manny Malhotra? Sabres sign Brian Gionta? Buffalo got Josh Georges for a draft pick? Avs get Brad Stuart for 2 picks? Matt Moulson signed 5 years with the Sabres for 25 mill? Camillari is in NJ?

It just frustrates me how willing the Wings are to stay with the status quo and re-sign the same players when we aren't winning. I know it's a joke but I really am feeling like Kenny is phoning it in. I know, I know, he is kicking tires, but when nothing creative happens, and they just re-sign players that didn't work the first time, it makes me shake my head.

I don't see why Ehrhoff is getting so much term and so much money. I've never really seen him as a #1 or #2 d-man, maybe a #4.

I actually think the Canucks have been the most "jersey-challenged" team in the league. Aside from the black / gold (1994) "skate" logo, every one they have has been ill-conceived and awful looking. (IMO)

So you'd rather have a kid that's played ONE NHL game to someone who has 6 seasons with 10+ goals and 50 points (Boyle)? Sure, he's older. But he would be a spry 37 year old on a team looking to re-sign a 42 year old forward. I like Sproul's POTENTIAL upside, but until he's done it at the highest level, it's all just a maybe. Hundreds of thousands of the "next big thing" have flamed out on the road to the show.

We've got a potential backup goalie in our system already and we re-sign Gustavsson? Let's see what the kid is made of at the NHL level before we anoint him as the successor. It would be good to know if he is the real deal or another Stefan Liv. Seriously, I think sometimes Kenny just wants to get things done so he can play golf. One year deal, same old same old, sure, why not? It worked so well last year! -
Rumors are that teams are throwing names at the Penguins to get James Neal out of Pittsburgh. Sure would love it if Detroit was one of those teams. Sure, he's a jerk, but if he scores 40 goals for YOUR team, he becomes less of a jerk.
