Reminder FSD repeating Yzerman's retirement night
AtomicPunk replied to CenterIce's topic in General
I moved to Detroit the same year he was drafted. We were both the same age. I saw hundreds of his games and met him twice. Always considered him in the highest regard, and it's nice to say when you meet your hero, they don't let you down. He didn't. EVER. -
He played well. And the penalty shooter was Alfredsson. So there's that. Give him time...
-
He's SERIOUS.
-
Mods are the enforcers of this board. LGW is pro-enforcer, right?
-
Man, am I going to be pissed when some coach tells him to be a better two-way player and not worry about scoring so much and it's a TEAM game. I love watching this guy and he lays it all out there every time. He is my fave to watch right now.
-
I'm not interested in him at all as a coach.
-
That sounds about right.

I think this list has a definite Detroit bias. There is no way, as much as I love him, that Zetterberg is the 6th best player in the NHL. That being said...I will vote for...Big Joe Thornton.
-
I watched that game (vs. Columbus, BTW) just to see Sammy in a Vancouver uniform, and to see how he looked playing with other players. Ryan Kesler? He left here to play on a 3rd line with Ryan Kesler? Took almost the whole first period until I even noticed him, and then he ran a guy at the blue line and I went....hmm....there he is. Did not look like anything special. Then again, I had that opinion of him here.

I was imagining Steve and Gretzky on the same team. Although Stevie still would have been captain. I imagine the Cup would have come here a lot sooner than 1997. Not to mention McSorley would have been on that team as well or traded for another asset like goaltending....that was the weak link there.

Nick Lidstrom was drafted in the 3rd round in 1989. Sergei was a 4th round pick also in 1989. I don't see how those would have changed if the trade was made, but it's possible they would not have picked Sergei if Gretzky was a Wing. Don't get me started on the Jagr / Primeau thing. Still pisses me off that Petr Klima being a prima donna kept them from drafting Jagr in 1990. Martin Brodeur was also taken at #20 in that first round. The first round picks the Kings gave up were '89, '91, and '93. That would have been Mike Sillinger, Martin LaPointe, and Anders Eriksson. I'd be OK with that.

Dude, you are really trying to have "Your" term HHO catch on, aren't you? This team has much bigger issues. Stop the myopia. (it's ok if you look that up).
-
Wow. For someone who has pretty much sucked this year and is in danger of losing his job, his Twitter is very smug and makes it sound like he is a bored out of shape playboy. That can't be his real account.
-
Challenge: assemble an all-goon, all-enforcer, all-grit team (of today's players). Discuss.
-
No. Everyone stop over-reacting to two bad games. There, I said it.
-
Maybe we should try and lure Sam Gagner away from Edmonton, he dropped the gloves last night...
-
That's all folks.....revenge tomorrow.
-
Malts is going to get a letter from the FCC for that one... "It's a F*ckin' DIVE!"
-
Power play! Delay of game! lets go NICK!
-
OK, good to know. I was a little worried when I saw Rafalski and Kronwall getting a lot of points and him zero. Upset the balance of my universe a little bit.
-
I'd like to know why Lidstrom has a big donut. Did anyone watch the preseason games and notice he wasnt playing much or anything?
-
Nice of the NHL to have their premiere overseas and send 4 teams over there, but, well, we'll schedule a bunch of games the night before. Don't they do ANYTHING right?
-
Can we send a link to this retirement ceremony to Peter Forsberg?
-
Ahh Patrice Breeze-by..... no teams want to overpay for this guy this year?
