It looked like McCarty was GETTING hugged, rather than hugging. Clarkson wouldn't give him any room to unload. Was not a great fight but it served its purpose.

The guy looks like he has some skills, though. A standout on a mediocre Leafs team. The hit was totally bush, and he deserves a longer suspension. Van Ryn was a pleasant surprise on the Leafs, picking up some of the slack from when McCabe left. I watched the game and Cherry did show and comment on the butt end to Price, but this was after Price punched him in the back of the head. Still, butt-ending a goalie in the chest is not going to hurt that much, is it? I don't remember hearing him say he had a bad work ethic, though....

Other countries have a degree of isolationism that we could afford to adopt a little of. Canada has a Canadian Content Law, things like that. We could also tell the countries we import from that the trade imbalance needs to be made a little more in our favor. True that the American cars are coming around in terms of quality. NOW, we have to work on the SERVICE issues. I own a Toyota and have NEVER gotten such attention and care when I have to have it serviced. They fixed things FOR FREE because they wore out early. I didn't have to file a lawsuit or go to another dealership and get another estimate, none of that crap. The customer service aspect is what drove me away from American cars and into a Toyota. Not a problem with it ever. (Knocking on a hockey stick, the wood kind).

Has anyone considered Colorado? They are falling apart up there and need to pull the trigger on something. Although, I think they should pull the trigger on a goalie. Budaj SUCKS. Plus. he could (sort of) end his career where he started, as a Nord.

Uwe Krupp was a great acquisition.

If you saw the game, it did not look like an elbow to me, it looked more like a groin. He went down awkwardly and tried to do the splits again to make a save, and came up holding his elbow. If he is hurt, I don't know how it can be the elbow that didn't touch anything.

Didn't they try a camera that went along the top of the glass at one point?

I think we need to let Ozzie get in a groove. Give him a few games in a row instead of jerking him out every other game. He needs to feel like he is the man. It worked in the playoffs!

I always liked Mike Richter's "Statue of Liberty" mask. Some of those in the gallery just have too much going on.

And I noticed Lilja for all the wrong reasons. Bad passes, turnovers, like they were pushing the puck to each other instead of making passes. Why was he on the penalty kill? He was out of position so much, thankfully he had other players covering the back door or they would have gotten burned.

Nothing wrong with that hit other than the guy got hurt. If he would have gotten right up, it's part of the game and nice hit by Weight.

Just more proof that the game and the politics should be kept apart. So she is a hockey mom. Wave from the stands like the other hockey moms. Stay off the ice unless you want to put a pair of skates on.

This has always pissed me off about the Wings / Babcock. He is going to start Conklin against the Blues, where Ozzie once played and would be in net against Legace, when the next 2 games are back to back. Play Conklin in one of those games!

I always felt that he left because he wanted to go somewhere and be "the man" and could never do that with Stevie as the Top Dog here.

The mix on TV was HORRIBLE. Vivian Campbell was all the way up on guitar, and the other guy (Phil Collen) was OFF. Solo...one would think the engineer would say, hey, there is supposed to be guitar here....turn that one up. Who should we have gotten? KID ROCK? (He's a hack and I am so tired of him being the default Detroit choice for any music) Def Leppard, horrible choice, they had a new album to flog. Maybe Nickleback? Why not? Not that I like them, but they are Canadian and big hockey fans. They do a lot of things for CBC.

It's not just games on ESPN. They don't even show NHL highlights on SportsCenter. The more eyes on the game, the better. If Bill Clement does the games and calls them "tilts", I might throw up all over my plasma.

There are plenty of teams who retire players that are not in the Hall of Fame, yet had a part in the team's history. St. Louis (Plager, Gassoff), Buffalo (Gare, Robert, Martin), Pittsburgh (Michel Briere), etc. Are the Red Wings so mighty that every retired number needs to be a Hall of Famer? To be specific, Stevie Y is NOT a Hall of Famer.....YET.

Agreed. But he is better than a player who piled up wins just because he played in a good system. I would put him in the Top 10, but toward the bottom of that 10.

I always think it is funny how Osgood is undervalued as a goalie. If someone said to you, "Hey, we just signed a goalie with 364 wins, 2 Jennings Trophies, and 3 Stanley Cup rings!!" Oh really, who? "Chris Osgood!!" Oh. Granted he is not in the top 3 in the league, but certainly Top 10.

#16 needs to go up next. Let's retire his number while the fans still remember how great he was, not 30 years later like some of the numbers of the past.
