ME too....Huds & Helm had sort of a chemistry in the 08 finals....Helm & Cleary play the same style of game....they could constantly dig it out of the corners & behind the net to Hudler who is supposed to be one of our snipers

I downloaded a concert he did in the summer of 2008 in Liverpool I believe & when he sang Yesterday at the end he used an acoustic guitar with a Red Wings emblem on it (shortly after we won the Cup)......I always wondered what that was about & if he actually knows anything about hockey.

My wife never gave a rat's ass about hockey (I would be weeping openly watching a gold metal hockey victory & she wouldn't give a second look). However,that all changed in 2008 when a local kid whose parents we know well was called up to the Wings. She immediatley became interested & as the kid won a regular shift & the Wings went to win the Cup, she never missed a moment. It got so good that she approved me buying the NHL center ice package so we could watch every game last season. She wants to buy NHL CI again this year & was just commenting how she can hardly wait for the season to begin.She says she misses Ken Daniels & Micky Redmond & even Doc Emry. The kid is Darren Helm & I can never thank him enough!!

I'm from Helm's hometown.....it should be in his genes.....his uncles could really throw em.....lol

Modano's +/- last three seasons were -6, -13, -11...is that what the Wings want to add? Holland says they have done well with veterans in the past, but our team is full of experienced guys who have all been to the big dance once or twice. All I see Mike adding might be increased ticket sales with the Michigan native thing.

The thing is if Modanno does sign than I think Abby (more likely) & Helm will only sign one year contracts. These guys are kinda the roots of our future teams & I would prefer to see them sign on for 3 or 4 years.....if Modanno doesn't sign I think this would be the case. I don't understand a 40 year old guy bringing everything to a grinding halt well he takes his sweet time scratching his ass & deciding what to do. This definately isn't like the Favre soap opera....Brett Favre is at least an elite athelete!

Its the middle of the month & Helmer still isn't signed. Whats the deal....is he holding out for more money than the offer he got.....is Kenny using him as trade bait......or all they all just waiting for things to unfold with salary cap? They seem more interested in signing the likes of Meech & Maltby....I don't get it!

I agree,Clark was the toughest pound for pound ever.....beating guys always much bigger than him....he even handed Proby his ass as few times!! He had countless fights with Grimson, McSorley,Kordik, & never faired too badly. He was not a heavyweight & was also a top three player. However,it was from constantly tangling with these gorillas he screwed up his back & had to tone it down towards the end of his career.

Isn't Laperriere the guy who took a dirty head shot on Helm & broke his nose on the first shift on Easter Sunday? Helmer came back & got a goal.....but after that it was he like his energy slowed & he wasn't the same guy thru most of the playoffs.

I'm wondering how many goals were scored against the PK when Helm was on the ice....I'm thinking not very many. Eaves wasn't around much for the playoffs (he seems to get injured a lot or is it just me). I think the PK is Helm's calling on this team....he still gets confused when the puck is close to the net ,but he can really put the heat on the pointmen & create turnovers to get it down the ice.

Lids takes a shot from the point ,it ramps up Thorton's stick, & hits Helm in the bandaid & goes in!!!

I think Helm should be given a B+ for effort....he is -3 but that is because no matter how many times he sets up his linemates they can't seem to score....both being pointless in the series.....most nights he led the team in hits & was above 50% on faceoffs. He is now the go to guy on the PK booking more time than anyone else.

I'm bad luck so I never wear any Wings apparel on actual game day. Here's a prime & factual example. I purchased the red Helm t-shirt with the #43 on the back this winter. Last Sunday seeing it was Easter & the house was full of company so I thought I would wear it while watching the Wings-Flyers game for the first time. Sure enough, on Helmer's first shift he gets nailed & gets his nose broken with blood everywhere. Everyone thought I was nuts, but I immediatley got up & changed shirts. Not long after Helm is on the ice for Cleary's goal & then scores himself right after that.You see,this really works!!

Be careful.....I had that patch put on my Helm jersey which he autographed on the back numbers & now I'm scared to wear it anywheres in fear of wrecking it......it's become more of a shrine!!! LOL

O.K. .....it's after 12:oo noon so Apr. Fools is officially over. However,there are some people seriously sucked in who DO want a change. When I look at a picture of Gordie Howe in the 50s & a present day one of Zett, the uniforms are basically the same & to me that says pride. I don't want the Wings to be look like the Thrashers or Penguins & come into town dressed like a semi-pro roller derby team!Let the original 6 stay the original 6.

I just think that simply the Wings are a better team with Huds....he always seemed to chip in an important goal when it looked like nothing was happening....maybe he should go to the Canucks & play with Sammy if he's not worthy of the Wings!!
