Don't want to beat a dead horse but over on the HF boards they have near end of season grade reports....the lowest mark Helmer got was a B along with several "A"s...best on the team....but guess what ....he's stuck on the 4th line & Miller is centering the 3rd line ????

I was wondering when people would start questioning why Helm hasn't been given a chance to move up. As someone pointed out his whole NHL career he's been playing with pylons for linemates....sure these other guys have the odd good game,but they are far & few between. I don't understand why he gets zero minutes on the PP....not the greatest hands around the net but being fearless in the corners & behind the net he could set up our snipers time after time.Why guys like Miller,Cleary & even Bert get more icetime than Helmer is beyond me...but soon as Wings penalty is called , he's the 1st guy out there killing himself to get the puck out,blocking shots & making great plays even on his knees if he has to! I think he needs to be rewarded with a shot at top 6...I don't think the team will be any worse off.

I agree.....in fact I think that he is worth more than 1 million considering what some of the other doggers get. He can lift the team & change the course of a game in a second with his speed & work ethic.He is not a natural goal scorer, but I would like to see him get just a little time on the PP to play with the big boys (other than Hudler he hasn't played with any real quality players). He is only going to improve & already seems to be the go to guy on the PK.

Right on! Going to the vets cost us came 7 against Pitts. last spring . Babcock was badly outcoached in that one & went to the well one time too many .....constantly putting out the old boys who due to injury & fatigue could hardly walk...never mind skate.

I agree 100%.....Canada has too many garbage goal type stars & not enough energy guys who can wear down the other team's D. Helm was a long shot to make the 2007 Canada jr. team but with his unbelievable work ethic he soon worked his way up to the second line & as the tournament went on he became their go to guy on PK. I think a team comprised of these type of players would do a lot better than what they chose....especially in a short every game is a big game type of situation.

According to Helmer's Facebook page, his girlfriend at todays game was harassed by some Pittsburgh fans who were evicted....security came to speak to Helm after the second period. Darren sounds pretty upset by the whole thing & has expressed his dislike for the Pitt. scene. Sounds like a classless place to me.

I don't think 1st line would be good....but I sure would like to see him be given a chance on the PP. His faceoff skills are improving & I',m sure with a little more open ice he could constantly set up our big guns & snipers (if we have any left?).He is best at digging it out of the corners where the pretty boys won't go to often & setting people up. You gotta face it ....our PP is our biggest weakness & is costing us games. I think a change would be good....at least give it a try1

I feel their greatest players are being great (Cros & Malky) while our great guys are only being good. Z & Datz have only shown brief flashes of their old selves....we have no offense & the PP makes me swallow more Gravol! I think we need some major line shakeups...you can only go to the well so long!

I got the t-shirt from detroitathletic.com.....it isn't a Bok(no emblems) but is good quality & size. I have an 08 cup winner Rbk t with all the players names on the back....they are very similar shirts except the detoit athletic one is a shade more "beet" red & has no Rbk insignias. It will do for me.

It seems a shame to me that Helm's line will become the 4th line when everyone returns.....they have been the most consistent line & have given a honest effort almost every game.

I'm no fan of Price but didn't Janssen's feet leave the ice....at one point his skates are pointing at the roof & to me this is charging. With Janssen's goon image it was pretty predictable that a penalty was coming...he saw a chance for a good shot & made the best of it.

I saw it in 08 when Helm returned to his home rec center in St.Andrews where he played all his childhood hockey.....it was quite a day with an estimated 3000- 5000 people coming out with a lotta love for the hometown hero. He came into the arena with the cup on a Zamboni driven by his brother....got to even kiss the holy grail......it was a special day!

I am really old school but in the sixties Stan Makita of the Hawks was ahead of his time. I used to love when he would say something in French to the Montreal Canadians(who were at that time 90% French speaking) & drive the whole team insane......I think not only he invented the curved stick but also invented using agitating to get power plays!
