BMO field is a gorgeous place, but it wouldn't hold nearly as many as Wrigley, Fenway, etc. do. With that said, I don't think that should impede its chances. The ratings for a Winter Classic involving the Leafs would be off the charts.

Here is a quote pulled from a recent blog entry Andy Strickland posted at Hockeybuzz.com: "I’m told by some pretty reliable hockey people that the Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks are the two leading candidates to sign free agent forward Peter Forsberg. The future Hall of Famer is getting closer to making his return to the NHL which I’m told should happen around Christmas time. Forsberg has told a few people that Chicago and Detroit are his top two choices." For the record, I don't believe this for a second, but I thought some here might be interested in reading this garbage. Discuss.

Terrible thread is terrible.

Robert Lang, Mikael Samuelsson, Tomas Kopecky, and Danny Markov.

That makes two of us.

Too bad. Outside of injuries to our own, the last thing I wanted to see this season was the most exciting, dynamic player in the league go down, and unfortunately, my worst fears have been brought to life. Damn you, hockey gods!

Does anyone else remember reading an article on the Wings' website 2 or 3 years ago about Lebda being groomed for success? In hindsight, it's actually kind of funny how very, very wrong that article turned out to be.

Unlimited amount of respect for May, but when healthy, Eaves needs to be in this lineup before he touches the ice.

Embarrassing effort, and we lost Willy to boot. Not exactly a happy camper right now.

Goaltending should not be Holland's biggest concern.

Kenny needs to pull the trigger, and he needs to pull it now. Without Franzen, Filppula, and Williams, this squad isn't even a lock for the playoffs, let alone a legitimate Cup contender. Don't get me wrong, in no way, shape, or form am I pushing the panic button, but this teams a boost, and we need a body with some NHL experience to plug the hole. On top of all that, Brett Lebda needs to go. The vast majority of LGW, including myself, have been calling for his head for what feels like forever now, but it's more apparent now than ever that he is a consistent liability in both the offensive and defensive zone. Doug Janik was solid in limited action. What exactly have we got to lose by giving him an opportunity? Lebda? Meech? If I'm Kenny, those are risks I am more than willing to take.

Not a bad player by any stretch of the imagination, but at this point, the price tag on his head is just too bloated for any team to even consider adding him. The old Michael Nylander might have been justify the cost, but he's not the same player that he used to be.

If Maltby, May, or someone along those lines goes down to injury later in the season, I would love to see a guy like Tardif up here for a little while. He's shown us so far this year that he can at least put the puck in the net at the AHL level, and he has the toughness and leadership to round out his game, so I see no real reason not to give him an opportunity.

Janik impressed me against the Bruins. Despite the limited ice-time he was given, I noticed he was very positionally sound, and he was making short, crisp passes to get the puck out of the zone. If Holland and company weren't so high on Meech and Lebda, I would have liked to have sees Dougie in a couple more games.

If Weekes really thinks that, then he is an idiot.

Beauty hit. Nothing else needs to be said.

Hahahaha. Good riddance.

1) The roller coaster in your avatar is so much fun. 2) Helm and Ericsson do not qualify as rookies. Leino, Abdelkader, and Howard do.

Good news. Lilja > Lebda

Bert has been playing well. In time, the goals will come.

Notes: + The Red Wings notched their first shootout victory of the season in a 2-1 win. + Detroit remained perfect on the penalty kill thwarting all four opportunities. + Chris Osgood continued his strong play stopping 33 of the 34 shots he faced. + Todd Bertuzzi led all Red Wings with a team-high 5 shots on goal.
