When somebody wants to injure somebdy he does it and fight does not prevent anything. Fight has pure enterntainment value and zero influence on final score, because of game clock is not ticking. What OP totally ignores, is the fact that some teams are hurting even more and nobody says "they have so many injuries because of they are even softer than Red Wings." No, no , no. many teams have far more important injuries but they still play with fire. First two weeks Red Wings played like their season had not started; it seems that 2 weeks ago star players finally were caught with harsh reality. I expected this team to start with intensity because they lost in finals in pretty shameful way: they were outplayed in 7th game at home. ( please, whatever excuses somebody wants to bring up, the fact remains that they lost 7th game at home)

Ericsson, Leino and Abdelkader are still learning that 82game schedule with full plate of responsibilities is totally different stuff compared to "jump in for some games and back to AHL" Bertuzzi? - He does not play on his natural position: do in 3rd line what Holmström does in 1st( annoy goalie), now he has to play due to injuries skating and playmaking winger and those qualities have never been Bertuzzi's strengt.

there is absolutely no need to overanalyze every allowed goal and make them as shining examples of players incapability. Stuff happens.errors happen. Sometimes saves are lucky( as was Howards save from breakaway, it deflected from him to post), sometimes you're making right decision put puck still stumbles in from weird bounce, etc... I dislike winning as they did it at last night. solving Lebda is easy thing to do-waivers. But it does not help others much... what is the difference between losing 1-5 and 1-3?

I don't think people are expecting Lebda to bail out the Wings. We just want him to not screw up in so many major ways. We're not talking about a few bad decisions. It's consistently awful play. This is his 5th season in the NHL, and he plays like a callup from Grand Rapids, at best. As I've said before, now that Lebda is paired with a rookie, he's being exposed for the mess that he is. OK. I try to make my stance more clearly. If Lebda plays his best season of his career and top 2 lines in both O and D continiue to play like "Lebda now", that is exactly what they are doing ( with some exceptions), this team competes for lottery no 1 pick. If Lebda plays his worst season but top line play their best, they can win the Cup. Lebda is exposed,I fully agree, but this team has far bigger problems than Lebda Solve THE REAL issues first and then let's talk about Lebda.

whatever positive or negative Lebda brings, its impact can't be noticable in the big picture. It should't be. MY point is that when 3rd liner has devastating impact on the ice it says that nobody is producting positively. And it is not Lebda's fault that first two lines in O and D fail... good teams are able to absorb bad plays, or can win games when playing...not well, even badly. 3rd liners shouldn't determine final score either positively or negatively. When it happens constantly it says that first two lines suck.

1. check Lebda's minutes 2. ask from yourself how much he is paid and where he plays 3. ask from yourself is it 3rd liner Dmen job to bail out struggling team 4. check out Zeterberg's , Datsyuk's, Lidström's and Rafalski's minutes 5. figure out their salaries 6. ask from yourself do they get so much money to carry this team on their backs 7. if answer to 6th question is "yes" then it means that they have to "cover up" mistakes of 3rd liners also. 8. if answer to 6th question is "no" then pleas infiorm us why those before mentioned stars get so many minutes and so much money.

correct. First line gets paid to bail out 3rd line( one of their many duties), not vice versa. What Lebda/Maltby bashers basically demand is : 3rd line, bail out first line! you do not? You suck!. What is curious that bashers do not "throw away" Datsjuk and Babcock but they go at assistant coaches and 3rd liners, although HEAD coach and FIRST line have failed so far....
