Difference is Fisher is signed for two more years and Kaberle is a rental. People have been shouting for two years now that the Leafs couldn't get a 1st rounder for Kaberle, and they did.
-
McKenzie: Leafs also getting a conditional pick.
-
Looks like Boston has to make a move to clear the necessary cap space, likely going to be Mark Stuart.
-
Considering the mish-mash of underwhelming prospects Burke gave up for Versteeg, getting a 1st rounder back is pretty good.
-
Chicago trades Jack Skille, David Pacan and Hugh Jessiman to Florida for Michael Frolik and Alexander Salak.
-
Leafs get Joffery Lupul, Jake Gardiner and a 4th in 2013.
-
Pulled as a precautionary move due to an elevated heart beat.
-
They probably had no idea who Jake Gardiner is.
-
Nothing. I've given up trying to figure out what will happen with Kaberle.
-
Too much money tied up in an underachieving defense, and a kid with the Marlies in Keith Aulie who deserves to be in the NHL but wasn't room. Lupul is just a salary thing. Gardiner is the piece they were after.

Does St. Louis hold the record when they used 7 goalies in 2002-03?
-
Emery already cleared waivers. Anaheim didn't have to waive him, but they chose to in order to get Emery an extended stint in the AHL. Anyways, the Islanders are so bad, Lebda was a +2. The first time this season he's finished a game with a plus-rating.
-
His numbers say otherwise.
-
The other issue is that a player on a conditioning stint also takes up a roster space.
-
So any unrestricted free agent who doesn't sign prior to the season should have to clear waivers? The 'PA would hate that.

Without Malkin and Crosby.

Leafs parking lot at the ACC is underground. What the parking situation is like at the practice rink, I have no idea. He would if he were sent down full-time, which he won't be. He's down on a conditioning stint. I suspect he'll work through it. Bit of a sophomore jinx, I guess. Has lots of talent, that's for sure.

If there's a positive in this for the Pens is that it opens up an arse-load of cap space for them at the deadline.

Maltby to have jersey retired by Owen Sound Attack
MacK_Attack replied to MacK_Attack's topic in General
Maltby is it. Andrew Brunette will be one next week when he plays his 1,000th NHL game. Owen Sound is perhaps the least prestigious team in the OHL, and they've only been there since 1989/90 season. Some of their more notable players would be Sean Avery, Wayne Primeau, Kevin Weekes, Bobby Ryan, Adam Mair. Oh, and the year Maltby scored 50 goals for Owen Sound....Brunette had 51. -
It doesn't matter how the Islanders acquired his contract. The fact is, they hold his contract and Nabokov is refusing to fulfill the obligations of that contract. Based on past precedent, the Islanders have the ability to request that Nabokov's contract be held over into 2011/12.
-
I don't think when it comes right down to it, that it is any different. It's a player with a contract who is not honouring it. I'm not so sure an arbitrator/judge would be able to look at extenuating circumstances.
-
The NHL would argue that the player has an NHL contract and he's required to play for whatever NHL team owns his contract. I would think how he got there is irrelevant. Though I don't doubt the 'PA would argue what you're saying.

Filing retirement papers forces the player to sit out for at least one season.
