It's an exhibition game, nothing more.

Atlanta Thrashers place Karel Pilar on waivers. Minnesota Wild place Steve Kelly, Serge Payer, Joel Ward and Aaron Voros on waivers. Vancouver Canucks place Jozef Balej, Greg Classen and Brad Moran on waivers
-
Kaspo's $3 mill price tag pretty much prices him out of the NHL.
-
He's signed in Russia for 5 years, so I'd say he's not coming back across the pond.
-
New York Rangers place Dairius Kasparaitis on waivers. Toronto Maple Leafs place David Ling on waivers.
-
Kyle Wellwood had similar surgery to that of Jamie Langenbrunner today and is out at least 2 months.
-
He's huge and largely immobile. He's 27 now.
-
St. Louis Blues place Jeff Woywitka and Jason Bacashihua on waivers
-
Kubina, ideally. McCabe can't be traded due to his NTC.
-
Montreal Canadiens place the following players on waivers: - Yann Danis - Corey Locke - Jamie Rivers - Mathieu Biron - Cory Urquhart - Duncan Milroy - Andrew Archer
-
Good start for my fantasy team.

Who's out there that's even worth looking at? I think Fergie said that the only free agent he'd be interested in is Forsberg, and obviously, he won't be alone in that regard. I'm not sure who they'd look at. Maybe San Jose moves a guy like Pavelski to upgrade a bit on D, who knows. I think teams are always willing to give something up to add to their bluelines, so I'm sure there will be some options available.

If it looks like Wellwood is going to be out for an extended period, then the Leafs will probably look to move Ian White in a package to get a decent scoring forward. Anton Stralman is definitely NHL-ready and this kid has lived up to every bit of hype so far in the little bit that he has played. He handles the puck like Kaberle, is better positionally than any other Leaf defenceman and has fantastic hockey smarts to know exactly where to be. He's a keeper. Stralman's emergence has made White awfully expendable.

2 months max. appears to be the worst-case scenario. Fergie said they hope to have him back inside of six weeks.
-
He'll stay in the AHL and collect his $3.1 million this year and next year. A team may take a chance on him on re-entry waivers if they feel they could use a half-decent backup.
-
And sacrifice $6.2 milliion? He'd be wise to just go to Manchester and collect his money.

I'm pretty sure that the Kings didn't qualify Fukufuji, so I don't think he's with them anymore. (By the way, those noises you hear are the Toronto media starting up the Raycroft-to-L.A. rumours)

Here are some players heading to camps without contracts around the NHL.... - Bryan Berard (NY Islanders) - Peter Vandermeer (Phoenix) - Krys Kolanos (Calgary) - David McKee (Phoenix) - Chris McAllister (Washington) - Grant Potulny (Washington) - Grant McNeil (Washington) - Scott Barney (Washington) - Phillipe Sauve (Dallas) - Tyler Bouck (Anaheim) - Bryan Muir (Toronto) - Brent Sopel (Detroit) - Aaron Downey (Detroit) - Jassen Cullimore (Detroit) - Jesse Boulerice (Philadelphia) - Rory Fitzpatrick (Philadelphia) - Jim Dowd (Philadelphia) Updated with more as I find them

Larry Murphy was hated in Toronto because he was brought in to be a top-pairing defenceman, which he most clearly was not at that stage of his career. He was one of Cliff Fletcher's last-gasp attempts to keep his job. I think the booing he received in Toronto was more directed at management than Larry himself.

- Dan McGillis (Vancouver)

Free for the pre-season, you have to pay for it during the regular season.

Tough to do without the hippies crying foul because the NHL is condoning fighting. I think the thing to do is to have a *hush hush* meeting where they tell the BoG that they just aren't going to call it anymore. Yeah, it'll never happen, I know.
